No way. I was in the background in the video, and I knew something was up when I saw your camera and so I decided to look, and there I am with my family.
I like the old gravity-feed gas pumps with the sight glass. They didn't have mechanical pumps like modern gas pumps because they used the force of gravity to let the fuel pour out from the sight glass. This is why the pumps are so tall, too. The reason why they had a sight glass on top of the pump was because this was the way the gas attendant could see how much fuel they put into your car. Also, due to the fact that gasoline didn't always have good quality back then. Back in the early 1900s and early twenties it was common to have water contamination in your gasoline. The sight glass would show if there was any water sitting at the bottom of the gasoline inside the sight glass. You could see the water and gas separation inside the sight glass.
Your video reminded me of a time when gas station attendants would pump your gas for you and check your oil, wash the windshield, and air up the tires. Never had to get out of your car. I remember it well.
I've been an artist all my life, so I notice a lot of odd things. Composition is one such thing, and I have to say, Adam, that your photography has gotten to be quite good over the years. The way you frame your camera shots, etc has improved dramatically since I first found your channel years ago. It's amazing how you seem to have developed a natural sense of cinematography and composition. I salute you, amigo!
my father was drove trucks in the state of Colorado bolder Colorado he worked in the the Moffet tunnel before moving to San Francisco California way back when my father was raised during the great depression my drove bottom dumps trucks doubles between Santa Cruz California to San Francisco California autocar trucks sorry for getting off topic.
I have a fun fact for you, I had a ghostly experience at the Iowa 80 truck stop. As a truck driver back in the mid 90's, I took a shower in a shower room there. After I was done taking my shower, I was at the sink brushing my teeth and then putting things away into my shower bag, when I suddenly felt the glass shower door firmly hit me in my back, I was quite surprised as I turned around to push the shower door away from me. I then looked into the shower seeing on the floor that I had almost forgot my shampoo bottle that was on the floor with my razor sitting on top of it, where I had left it. I went into the shower and picked up my razor and my shampoo bottle and put them into my shower bag. I then looked around to see if there was a vent or something that could have blown the door into me, there wasn't a vent there and this was a heavy glass shower door. I picked up my shower bag from the sink and headed for the door saying "Thanks Rick" to my best friend who had passed away a couple years earlier, while I was trying not to freak out, as I opened the door and walked out. I have never taken a shower there since then and unfortunately I don't remember the room number. I didn't hear anything or see anything, so I never fully knew what happened, all that I do know is if that shower door hadn't hit me, I would have left my razor and shampoo bottle there.
My late Brother drove Semi's ..for some of the Best Companies; .I took some trips with him...and the Truck Stop Food, was the Best!! He knew all the Good Ones..We stopped at a very big one in Tn. Such Good Memories!!! Nice Road Trip!! Iowa a Nice Peaceful State....🚛🚛 So Nice to see the States....
Good morning Adam, its amazing what you find on your travels. That truck stop museum is mind blowing.Iam glad you have better weather today.Safe travels, from Universal Jamie.
Thank you for visiting the museum. I was a truck driver for 30 years in the northeast US, and I remember seeing that Henry Good truck around A LOT in the 80s and mid-90s. My most recent job before retiring was working for Hood/Crowley in Massachusetts, so I saw the Crowley model tractor trailer in the display case and I hauled trailers with that series of logo. I also worked for Dominos Pizza, and I would wonder if the truck stop had a scale model of a Dominos truck... my boss had one on his desk and a lot of us drivers had the tiny Matchbox scale trucks given to us for safe driving, customer service, etc. Thanks again Adam, for being who you are and shedding joy on the world.
My wife was the directer of the museum for about 6 months. They have a full restoration facility on location. When she was there that coca-cola truck was in the process of restoration.
I live a few miles away from that truck stop and never been in the truck muesem so glad you showed it. Ive been following you for about 7 years now ever since i had a several stroke that caused me not to walk anymore and i used to take my kids to disney so your channel would have me reminnaisse of going to the orlando area and as a kid my dad would take us to clemont, florida and stay in an a A frame cabin on a lake that was in the 60s. Welcome to our area, side note i was a truck driver for awhile
Adam I love these types of videos. Thank you for showcasing true America. The midwest is the real United States. Its almost lost in time . Safe Travels Amigo 👊
Thank you for featuring the trucking museum for so long in this video. It's an amazing place and I can't believe that they don't charge an admission. I'd love to go to the Field of Dreams at some point, so this place is a little extra motivation to make that trip.
Love when you go through Iowa! My family all lives in Des Moines. And I have a thing for cool gas stations and truck stops. So as you can guess, I’m thrilled!! Awesome video as always!! Thanks, Woo! ❤
Adding another spot to visit from your backroad travels. Having been from the midwest(Missouri), I never knew of the truckstop or museum. Now I want to visit both.
I go to every car show in the North Idaho area and the old trucks are my favorite! There are so many classic cars out there, but few commercial trucks were restored, so that museum is a real treat! Will definitely see it if I ever get on that cross country road trip I have been planning for more years than I remember now!
I had no idea that museum was there. Thanks, Adam, for touring through that building of magnificent history and vehicles. I am determined to not miss that the next time I pass through the area. Heck, I've been to Iowa 80 a half dozen times and missed the museum.
There are a few other "Iowa 80" brand truck stops Petro Truck stop in Joplin MO, Petro truck stop in Kenly NC. They also have a truck in a corner window and a tractor trailer mural in the chrome shop.
I been to that place multiple times in the early mid 90's when I'd drive out to Iowa and work 10 days then get 4 days off and come home for it. Bought gallons of piping hot coffee from there, lol.
One thing I noticed when I worked in quite a few different cities, towns and blink and you miss them towns out there, is they almost always had community swimming pools. Never see that here in Michigan.
Hello Adam great road trip video into Iowa..The I 80 truck museum and other stuff are very impressive..Nice freight train passing..Beautiful farm land..
Thank u for letting us see the museum. I've been to the truck stop many times.i never had the time for the museum. The small Ryder truck is for yard jockeys. They dock the trailers where the big trucks can't. Those cab overs have the most uncomfortable rides. Yes the motor is under the seat. You can't keep anything in the cab that could go through the windshield, when it's being repaired. Cab will be tipped.
I got ten forward gears and a Georgia overdrive. Just passed a Jimmy and a White, I’ve been passing everything in sight. Six days on the road and I’m gonna make it home tonight.
When you were looking at the old trucks and came up on the 1918 walker electric, I thought the same thing, Jeepers Creepers, then you said it, so cool. Have fun stay safe.
In the gift shop, there's a machine that does 3 different pressed pennies. The museum doesn't have an admission, but does accept donations. There's also a dog wash. And the buffet restaurant is pretty decent. Thanks for showing one of my favorite places
Thanx Adam!!! for sharing a delight museum that lots of folks would never know about! or, get to experience. You do find and display some really awesome things on your channel . . . :>)
Thank you so much Adam. That trucking museum was indeed awesome and a place I would otherwise never got to see if not for you, so thank you again for bringing us along. I really enjoy these road trips.
Great video! I live 40 minutes west of the truck stop and always enjoy stopping by to see "new" trucks that have been added to the museum. It is definitely worth checking out!
Um yes hello….as a life-long New Jerseyan of 47 years, I’d like to say that I-80 starts in NJ, kind Adam sir, not NY, as you stated. 😂😊 I’ve travelled 80 5 years of my life heading back and forth to college in South Dakota from my home here in NJ. Love that truck stop. Thanks for another awesome video, Adam! 😊😊
28:14 - its a time traveller! Or a ghost! Great video - i've added it to the long list of places i want to visit in 'the states between'. Big Rig Steve (a youtube trucker) streamed live from here earlier this year i think - looks amazing

P.S. I have a vintage (metal) Coca-Cola bottle opener attached to my kitchen wall.
I love how you “take time to smell the roses” in life. Good for you!
Driving across 80 last week in July can’t wait to see that place truck stop
I could spend hours in that museum. I love looking at old vehicles. Very impressive place with no admissions charge which is very shocking. 😳
At 25:37 I thought Mr. Sandman song would be playing with 4 Texico servicemen running out, ready to work on your car Adam
Truckers keep America moving! Thank you for delivering what we need rain or shine and in the dead of night💯👑☝️🥂

I loved every minute of this visit to Iowa. That truck museum was amazing. Thanks for taking me along! 👍🏼
I like the magnet you bought.
Something about the Iowa vibe that is just peaceful and relaxing. Love these back road adventures!
Lots of Truckers in my family from now going well back. This was the way to support their family independently and they did! 🚚

Most impressive
They don't have admission, just donation. That's how they can afford to renovate the trucks.

The last two videos, for me, just cut off at the end almost mid sentence 🤔
Wow, that museum is amazing. I love the old gas pumps, vehicles, and signs!!
I love that Adamn has random surprise train catches in many of his travel vlogs! He's a rail fan!
