I do love a top ten video, and yours are always great Kieron! Some beauties here, particularly that red enamel San Martin. Stunning dial and the matching red date wheel is a nice touch. Thanks for your hard work and fantastic content. Hope all's well mate 👍
That San Martin really is a pretty watch.... I too love a red dial - I was considering the San Martin dune textured one but I think that pottery glaze inspired one blows it out of the park. sooo tempted.
It is nice, but not all that dissimilar from their previous red dial with the red fume and desert wave texture (SN0129.) For me this new one would replicate (mostly) the look of what I already have. Now if they made this new one in a banging shade of blue...LOL
That San Martin SN0114 was interesting. It comes in a very interesting blue version….. I really like when the Asian manufacturers feature their own artistry which they do so well - like a lacquer dial! And the stamp on the back is also cool. Great video!
I got into scuba diving in the mid 90s, before I really got into watches, and this is what I was taught about water resistance ratings back then. If it says water resist but doesn't state a depth it's just splash resistant, but if it states a depth you can take it swimming. A lot of 50m watches will survive recreational diving, but 100m was considered the minimum rating you should use. Bear in mind though that this was back in the 90s when basically all the budget watches were made in Japan, and they had pretty high standards for quality, so if a big Japanese brand said their watch is good for 30m you could reliably assume it was okay to take it in the pool. For a Chinese watch in current year, water resistance claims don't mean much, but if it has a screw down crown and caseback, there's a solid chance it will survive whatever water you throw at it, assuming it doesn't have any QC issues.
Diving is a serious activity and watch is a safety measure. I wonder why people just swim or even more funny, take shower without taking watch off like they are competing or what. Watch is a precious mechanism, mechanical or quartz, so why abuse it underwater without a real need just because it has WP rating. Kinda another megapixel race or my car has more horsepower.
@@event4216 Personally I baby my watches, mainly because I don't want a collection of beat up watches. I have a beater watch I use for physical work, and as a rule I take my watch off when I shower. Still, I try to wear a watch that's appropriate for what I'm doing, so if I go for a swim, odds are the watch is going too.
I loved the video. Some of the watches left me speechless and stunned. As a watch collector, I have Breitling, Tudor, Rolex, Hobblet and other high-end watches, and next to them watches for less than 50 dollars. When I go for a walk and see a watch, if it winks at me, talks to me, something I don't have like it doesn't matter to me Where did it come from? That I am purchasing a watch, the end of the story is a bit different and requires budget thinking and research beforehand. Thanks for a great video, keep up the good work
I'm warming towards these proper affordable high spec watches. Great work TTT, I'm loving the San Martin red dial but love the desert sand red dial, even with the NH53
You've knocked it put of the park with these selections Kieron, great job. My appetites well wetted (yeah hommages get you in the end😉, they're fun and you don't have to worry too much about them).
I salute Chinese watchmakers for brave and fresh designs like Avocado watch even if myself I'd not be wearing it because I'm not a diver. But really nice design!
The San Martin SN0144 is $500 bucks Canadian. Beautiful watch just not in my budget. The Addiesdive AD2055 caught my eye and almost bought it for $97 sadly cannot ship to Canada.
I have that new green addiesdive, would really recomend it, the amount of watch you get for the price is insane and it beats so many others for the price like casio, lorus, seiko and so on. The green dial is stunning, logo is a lot better dan before and it fits perfectly. Because not many people know the Longines conquest it feels way less like wearing a homage to a rolex or something. I asked people how much they thought the watch was and most people said around 500 buks.
Id like to throw in Jaragar as a Chinese brand that design and produce elegant and quite reliable watches. My current on is an Automatic that I have for 4years and looks good and is very accurate over a week or so. I usually let it run down when wearing my others a quick wind and off she goes.
San Martin is awesome. Beautiful steel finishes. Do you know they have a premium sub brand? Addiesdive is also great, I love their Willard white texture dial homage. Baltany makes great homages, probably the best in Ali.....Not Aliexpress but, Have you looked at the Armitron Tank, Santos, and ellipse watches?
Great video. Really good choices IMHO. There are other great looking Merkur vintage style dress watches. What do you think of them? Are they original design?
No idea what Pierre Paulin were thinking by not aligning the loop of the hand with the hour and by doing so, the hour is obscured at the point that the hour changes 🙄
I like the homage MUCH MORE than the original Alpinist, but not enough to buy it. Just sayin'; it's not my personal taste but I am IMPRESSED bc I like it better than the original. Seriously. 🤷♂️
My AliExpress account is locked right now, and I can’t figure out why. I’ve never ordered from them before even though I do have an account and a password. Guess I’ll have to spend the extra money and shop elsewhere.
100m is dive capable, the ISO 6425 standard only calls for a minimum of 100m water resistance. Although I wouldn't trust most Chinese watch's water resistance claim to be honest.
This guy should not have used the word "stealing" on homage designs. If he is so clinical, he should have just refused to take these watches for free like it is an evil object or simply fold his channel dealing with reviewing these watches, making money off of this business. Don't sh*t at where you eat. I'm simply saying don't be a hipocrite.
But its litterally stealing the Design, I personaly don't have a problem with it, and really like San Martin, but I don't see the problem with naming it what it is. Their Quality is incredible none the less.
As long as the name or logo on the dial is different then everything is fair game, a good design by the original brand isn't always financially accessible to the masses....I personally have no issue with it....🏴⌚🏴⌚
Nah!! I just can't get past these AliExpress chinese unknown brands with wierd names and logos even though they offer great value and specs for the money! I stay under the 400$ mark when I buy watches and I prefer to walk around with a Seiko or a Citizen with less specs than looking down on my wrist and see a stupid snorkeling logo that reminds me that I'm kidding myself. That Pierre Paulin Jump Hour is unbelievable for the price.

I agree. Best watch I've seen from San Martin 100%. I delve a bit more into the meaning behind it in my full review 👌
The honeycomb pattern lume on that Boderry isnt very good. I reviewed one a while back.
Yeah, a fun novelty more than anything. The lume on the Voyager I reviewed was also a bit meh
I have found the lume on the steeldive watches is amazing

Great stuff there. Well presented.

Me too. A slice of fun 😉
Boderry has upgraded their Sea Turtles to 200 meters (oddly, not reflected on their website yet). I have 2 and love them.
Amazing! You'd think they'd shout that from the rooftops!
@TopTierTicker They also upgraded their movement from a Miyota 8215 to the NH35, but no one seems to have noticed. It's just bizarre.
I noticed the NH35, as I mentioned it in the video. But not the water resistance.
Does the green dial Pierre Paulin come with that green croco style strap?
I have the same mint green addiesdive it's crazy how good it is for the price.

SN144 - sorry, for price asked I'd go for Citizen Tsuyosa with a dial darkening towards bezel or for titanium Forza with Eco Drive.
When are they making a GREEN fumé!? I need one!
yes, we want video on new Sanda
Nice picks! Although I believe the first San Martin looks a lot like the Bulova Jet Star, so I do not know that design is THAT original.
It has no resemblance only in the color red.

That red dial on the first San Martin is definitely "inspired" by a Phoibos watch you actually reviewed Kieren. They just didn't make it a diver's.
Couple of left-fielders in there. Nice

how well do those watches on a time grapher ?
Mixed mate. The San Martin I talked about first is coming in at just +2 seconds per day... But, it's a lucky dip!
the sanda 1116 give 30m water resistance on their product specs, where did you get the 100m?
Just an editing error. It's hard to get everything perfect!
