I Took a Carnival Cruise to Amber Cove (this excursion SURPRISED me)

In this video we bring you along on our family's excursion experience with Iguanamama. This was such an amazing excursion! First, we have a short hike through the jungle. Then we arrive at various waterfalls for some jumping, splashing and floating through gorgeous canyons. Next, we arrive back at camp for an authentic Dominican meal. It was a great day! If you are up for some adventure with mild physical challenges, this is hands down, one of the best excursions to experience!

My family and I went on this waterfall tour 2 days ago while cruising with the Carnival Horizon! It was so much fun!!
In Belize, we went through a third party vendor for an excursion to see the Mayan ruins and then zip line in the jungle. Since we were the only ones doing this combo, we got our own private guide for the three of us. It was a great experience and my favorite excursion I've ever done.
We had Carlos as our guide last September. He was fantastic, and Iguana Mama is a great company.
Kellie, I'm so with you!!!! I am now afraid of heights after a certain age🤪 I tried walking on the rope course on an NCL cruise, convincing my kids that it was awesome -got up there, panicked and had to be "taken" off😂 while my kids watched in disgust😏

My wife and I went on the waterfall excursion 2 years ago. We are in our mid 60's and we passed up the 20 yos who were sucking air. At least we had the advantage of being from West Virginia and this was a normal walk for us. LOL. The waterfall excursion is WONDERUL one.

My wife and I did this excursion in 2018 while we sailed on Carnival Horizon. It was an awesome excursion as we did all the waterfalls. On the hike up, one of our guides disappeared into the woods and came back out with fresh mango's for everyone to enjoy. We had a great time from start to finish. On the way back to the pier, we stopped at a roadside fruit stand and got some on the best tasting bananas I have ever had along with limoncillo's. A 5 star excursion for us.

Best Excursion EVER!!!! Just did this back in December 2022 with Holland Cruise Line.
Very informative video. Thanks. Yes we typically book with the cruise line because of insurance reasons. However, you guys opened our eyes up to a 3rd party vendor as long as we do the research and make certain they are reputable. We were in Amber Cove last year but we stayed at the pool area and didn’t venture out. I did do the zip line around the pool area but they weren’t very nice or helpful. It was my first time ever to consider zip lining so I was a bit nervous to say the least so I needed to feel at ease. They did not make it better 😂. I definitely would like to get back to Amber cove and do your excursion. Again thanks and be safe 🙏

Great video Jason and Kellie! Loved that you were able to over come the fear and do the jump. Sometimes all it takes is an extra few minutes to strengthen yourself up! Once went repelling and was terrified at that first step. Took a bit but then I had to climb back up and do it again and again. Became a life long love.
That's awesome! I haven't been repelling in a long time and would probably be just as scared at first!

My family and I went to the waterfalls in 2019 and it has been one of our favorite excursions. Maybe even THE favorite. And like Kelly, I got up to that first jump and had a moment of hesitation. 😂
Good stuff my Friend! Our family had a SUPER time with this excursion too. I think we have decided that is it currently in our top two favorites of all time for sure. 😊
Yes Kelly all 3 points are spot on. And very important to book with a reputable company. Planning my next cruise for November and just booked through LocalTours. A 9 hour customized private tour for the 3 of us. Cant beat the price either

I just looked at this video and 30 seconds in can tell you this is the RIGHT choice. My family and I did this excursion with Iguana Mama this last week off of the NCL Escape! All six of us had a great time. We ended up doing the 7 waterfalls and 5 zip lines. The hike up was 4 kilometers (2.5 miles). It was surprising to see the number of people that were struggling on the hike up as we passed a few groups someone stated "there goes Seal Team 6". Just be prepared and stay hydrated!
How long was the excursion. I don't want to miss the boat. We dock at 830 leave at 4
We did this excursion while in Amber Cove also. This was one of the best excursions ever.
We were thinking of booking a similar excursion with NCL however, this seems so much better! And only $45 and they take the pictures? An amazing deal! Ty for posting this.

I was also scared to do the jump, but was told I had to. The guide said on the count of 3…One, push. I’m glad we did this. It is one of our favorite excursions.
Oh my! Lol. We had a ladder that people could climb down if they didn't want to jump. But I am like you, super glad we did this one! (Kellie)
I just did that a month ago on my NCL Escape cruise. I don't know ehy people are afraid to jump. To me rhat was nothing. I would have jumped from twenty feet higher or more. However, i didn't date do the ropes course on the ship or the zip line at Stirrup. Too afraid ill get dizzy or the line will break. That ain't nothing.

What excursion would you recommend in Amber Cove for a family of 5 with two teenagers and 6 year old?

Do you know if they offer any sort of return to ship guarantee? I just looked on their website and didn’t see anything. Also, how long did the whole thing take and did you have time afterwards to explore the port before getting back on the ship?
So what country is Amber cove in? It seemed to be avoided by all in the video .
We are doing the falls excursion through shore excursioneer and it say meet at 7:30 am. Is their local time the same as carnival ship time? I can’t find this information anywhere. I did double check and make sure their time was local
Hello Kelly, what an amazing video. I would like to try that also, but like you, i would be scared to jump that far down. I hope you show more videos of excursion that you take. I feel if you booked with them, i will too. I still plan to book with Honduras 5 star for the sloth adventure in Rotan in November this year on wonder of the seas. Did you get your photographer through Iguana Mama? We've seen some really crappy pics and videos from reviews (Carnival's excursions reviews). Were your pics of just your family or from everybody in the group?
How much time in total ? Are u sore next day, do u have to jump in the water, have anxiety with water. Only 13 yr and 11 yr can go alone
To be honest, I am terribly scared of heights. But if I can see someone else jump, I can talk myself into it. But put me on a ladder, I just can’t let go with my second hand to do a job above my head. Can Not Will Not let go with second hand.

Yes. There is a ladder at the 2 jumping spots. Our son ended up going down the ladder :)

We booked through Carnival. Got to the falls and Carnival doesn't allow their passengers to jump!! Only allowed to do the slides!! Would not have booked this excursion knowing this!!!
