There is no doubt that having to play the great golden retriever in Angelique Kerber must be slightly exhausting if you don't know how to play dogs. Kerber is no doubt a better retriever than Caroline Wozniacki.

Definitely! Lerner is better than Woz because she has those incredible angles and can flatten out shots to hurt you better as well. I actually think Kerber looked tired after 3-2 in the 3rd though. I love Angie!

We saw a preview of what she could do in Auckland at the start of the year, when she beat Woz and Venus back to back and got all the way to the final, and was a set away from winning there before her fitness failed her. We saw there that she wasn't afraid of the moment. And she showed it wasn't a fluke with her run this week at an even bigger tournament. And for Canadian tennis, with all the accomplishments of Raonic or Bouchard, and the rise of Shapovalov and Felix, this is the biggest title, by far, that a Canadian player has won. Raonic and Bouchard had nice runs and got to GS and Tier 1/Masters finals, but they never won them. Good on Bianca, and may she continue to keep improving. It would so be nice if announcers stopped mispronouncing her name.

I'm so happy Andreescu won. I find her game very entertaining to watch, but I was definitely worried about this matchup against Kerber, especially after that tough three-setter against Svitolina. I think what has impressed me most about Andreescu has been her mental toughness. In both of her matches against Svitolina and Kerber, she was running on empty by the third set and missed a few match point opportunities. So many less-experienced players would have crumbled, but Andreescu pushed through her pain, stayed calm, and closed out the matches. I hope she gets some well-earned rest. Bravo!

Yes, another coming back to see Bianca's first title, after winning her 3rd at US Open. I have to say, her first title here at Indian Wells, looked much harder to win than the so called Grand Slam event, especially starting at the back of the field as she did being a wild card. Compared to her exhaustion here, she almost cruised through the US Open.

As someone who does not watch a huge amount of tennis: is there another player (other than maybe Federer...) who routinely changes the rhythm of the game, mixes shots constantly, the way Andreescu is doing? Seems to me she would be a nightmare to play against, you never know what shot she will make, at what speed... with most players, especially female, it seems it is these days a hammering match.

A star is born. Even though she´s only 18 she´s already much more intelligent than all the others and thus seems to be the only one who REALLY has figured out the main weakness or achilles heel of womens Tennis: Versatility. A clever mix of power tennis and sudden rhythm changes/destroyers with stops, moonballs, slices, short angles, slower high topspin balls to the opponents backhand etc. is absolute kryptonite for probably every woman on tour. It´s about time for a female player to finally realize and exploit this. I think she´s gonna be number one soon and if she also improves her physical fitness, loses a few pounds and continues to exploit more and more of this "achilles heel" she´s even gonna be dominating the sport. She also seems to have enough power in her arm (and enough brains in her head to realize the benefit that would come from it) to develop a really sick kick serve over the next years. Which, in my humble opinion, would be the final nail in the coffin. You heard it here first and you´re welcome.

@@tennisfan523 She's extremely fit compared to people like me who are not professional athletes, but her fitness was noticeably weaker than Svitolina's and Kerber's in these last two matches. Improving her endurance is an obvious area for her to work on at this point, and it's not shameful for Andreescu to be less fit than some of the veterans. Besides coming off injuries last year, Andreescu is so young that she hasn't really had time to build the same amount of endurance as the best women players.

Top to Bianca, however personally i feel that in court coaching shouldn’t be allowed at any event Men’s or Women’s as these players are professionals and shouldn’t need it. This is an individual sport and if they cannot get themselves together and hit better shots without thier coach telling them what to do then this isn’t the sport for them. This may sound ver one sided in favour of Kerber but the result would have been much different in Andreescu didn’t have her pep-talk after Kerber broke her for 2-3 in the final set.

Great performance from Andreescu. She must have watched a lot of Radwanska's game....Aga lacked physique and the power Andreescu has at her disposal, though. So put together it presents a lethal combination. She is a potential no. 1 if she continues developing.

Mark Bielak precisely. She reminds me of Radwanska but with power. Let’s hope she doesn’t sacrifice power for getting lean.

This kid is dangerous. Both Bianca and Bencic I think are the two to watch this year. One of them will win a grand slam this year. Bencic was always a great player and was top ten as a teenager then the injuries, which are now finally behind her. She ran out of steam in this one, but she'll be back.

It's not simply the British... it's basically every native English speaker. They are also those who per capita speak the least number of foreign languages.

I know!! She did it 3 times. There’s no excuse for that though. I’d give a player one accident, but after that I’d have enough respect to at least direct the ball far away from her. By the 3rd time, I’d have been pissed, accident or not. It’s kinda like you could say it was t an accident by the 3rd time.
