    Nice demo and review as always Bo! I finally made plunge this year into Eurorack and hard to believe that I already have two 6U cases full. One thing about this module that I wish it had was more CV control over pitch and so forth. Still, for a drum synth it is quite good for small setup with FX as well. I do prefer individual percussion modules for the flexible modulation choices.

    Had a ton of eurorack drums and some drum machines and, even if these don't sound perfect (I think they sound great), the workflow is pretty great. Can use modular to trigger in interesting ways, and there is no way to come even close to 30HP (try 100HP) to get 7 sounds + FX and a mixer going on. Been loving the Blck_Noir, going to take a leap on the QoP and install some sounds ripped off the Roland TR-6S (and elsewhere!)! I love the TR-6S also, but, pretty menu-divey and a bit obtuse to use; after doing modular I was kind of dumbstruck that Roland wouldn't have a euclidean mode on it. A 4ms Pod + QoP + DOT and we're jamming. JMHO @BoBeats love the sequencer choice!

    I personally like the black noir more since it's an all analogue drum manchine.. I love the individuals outputs but the trade off is not having them on the signal processor once routing them to the record it as individual voices. I can work around it but originally I thought I could still record the voices individually and still have under the effect processor and the filter ...

  • @hefeng5338
    @hefeng5338 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    hello, great review, like it. could you please explain from 0:58, how you did the nasty sound, I see you hold the track 4 button and let it through its own effect, so what does hold down track 4 button do? in the review you said hold down a track button will let the sample repeat, but the 0:58 nasty sound doesn't sounds like a repeat sample.

    It looks like there is a left and right output, or out 1, 2 but I can't see how you might assign the drum voices to one, the other, or both outs, or whether there is panning per voice. I sure hope so, this thing sounds quite nice, but I just can live with mono drums for my style.

    Question for the gallery: Being as something like this is cost prohibitive for me, could a Volca Drum create sounds akin to this? Thank you!

    • @vprice509
      @vprice509 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I have a Volca Drum. In my experience, no, you won’t get sound like this. The. QOP module is part analog, part sample based. The Volca Drum is a digital percussion synth. I don’t hate the Drum, but I don’t love it. I think your best bet is the PO-32 Tonic Pocket Operator. I’ve heard it described as the best drum machine under $500. My plan is to sell my Volca and get a PO-32. It’s digital, of course, so there’s that. I also have a DFAM that I want to throw in the trash. It’s cool, but not $700 cool. This module that Bo showed us IS cool. I’m just not ready to sell my soul to Eurorack just yet. :) Watch some more Volca and TE videos and sound demos I’d say.

    • @ozzy3ml
      @ozzy3ml 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vprice509 Microtonic (the software which the PO-32 is based on) is fantastic. Well worth checking out especially if you get the PO-32 as then you can export new sounds from the software to the PO. (Edit: meant to address this to the person you were responding to)

      I love the Volca drum a lot! It hits hard and you can do varied sounds with it. I highly recommend it for the price. It sounds way better than it has any right to. It does FM type sounds too and it even has a bit crusher. It’s one of my favorite drum machines ever and I’ve owned a lot of them
