Thanks Des for the videos and the tips at setting up rigs for pike fishing. Just getting back into pike fishing after years of not fishing and the videos have shown me where I was going wrong. Cheers
Hi Des. I once saw one of your pike videos, and your tip was that you can tell the age of a lake by how big the trees are growing round the side...Talk about light bulb moment!!! I've quoted it no end of times over the years...😎😎
Where have you been all my life? 💖. I had one here in hadley michigan smash my spinner bait last week and ripped 20 lb braided and my spinner off like nothing. Pretty sure i heard him laughing after. Im stepping it up a notch.
Hi Ian, yep good idea. The float locks can be used with this type of rig effectively, because there is enough tension on the line (because you are using a fairly big lead) to lock the float in place. Both ways work well with this rig. Best wishes, BB.
Oily smelly things like canned mackerel... But for example in Poland U can only use deadbait fished in same water, so... everything with meat. You can use chiken's heart, liver...
Hi there, yes we fish rivers quite a bit. A simple float or leger set-up is generally best. It depends on the flow really. Where this is not too strong then a float leger works really well. We will hopefully be covering some river pike rigs soon.
Hey , what type of bait can i put on that? If the dead or alive fish is not availiable? Are there alternatives? I very like fishing this but i never have fish bait.
Just any small fish you can catch. Here in michigan people use perch a lot. Michigan pike love perch. Or bluegill species. Thats what im going to use today, the bluegill. I may go to a creek and try and get a few small suckers. Small hook and a worm.

Good vid but im getting frustrated as you keep changing your floot fishing rigd which makes me think its all about selling pike pro products which is a shame.
Hi MrColt050, it's all about different options really. Whether you want the bait on the bottom, midwater, or able to be twitched and moved around. No one float rig can do everything, so we are trying to cover some different variations.
Far too complicated. You don’t need the bite-alarms or bobbins as the float gives bite indication. You don’t need rod rests - lay the rods on the ground. Also, the float stops should have been raised another 8 inches so the pencil floats lay flat on the surface; an incredibly sensitive set up. Keep it simple and you will enjoy fishing a lot more.

Hi Des, Great video. What do you think of using a lock slide float type of setup. Saves you fiddling about with depth finding.

@@PIKEPRO341 cannot wait to see the video not had really any Experience pike fishing the river
That's a lot of stuff for catching a pike on deadbaits... Even fishing with a pencil can be done much more simple (and delicate).

Only need half that tackle. Float stops mean you cant fish more than the rod length, uses a stopknot and bead.
Why is that?

2 sets of treble hooks and you let the fish run that long before you strike? Hate to think how many swallowed hooks you have to deal with........
