The song was first collected in Appalachia in the 1930s, but probably has its roots in traditional English folk song. It is listed as number 6393 in the Roud Folk Song Index.
Grace Potter & the Nocturnals are an amazing live band. Grace can steal the show with her amazing voice and with her on the Hammond B-3. The Nocturnals are superb musicians.
Truly awesome. Love this band. I have seen them live 4 times now and agree with the others - they are fantastic live. Every performance they do a cover of a classic rock song from the 60's or 70's. Paying tribute to the past. Love it!
This brought back memories of our blues band supporting the Animals once at a local venue. Needless to say, we did NOT play our version of the number!! However, the fabulous Grace could have done so. (She's too young obviously!)
one f my faves......followed them since the beginning when we lived in Vermont. So original and true to themselves. Hope the industry I does not try to take that from them.
Fantastic, really haunting. Really captures the spirit of the original

I love this but her band looks heavily sedated or something......lol
I feel sorry for the Drummer doing the same beat over & over. Seems boring & painful.
That's what drummers basically do. Not an instrument I ever wanted to play.
Its Primal - a drums function, it isn't the notes you play, its the thrust of the notes you play, ; Hat off to Him!
Norman Kraft don’t feel too sorry. That is her husband.

To make simple and dramatically effect...
Sorry.
Boring.
But thats just my opinion.
Yep and it's wrong.
Can you say: very good looking, a good singer, but over rated. Somehow, she’s less than the sum of her parts. Impressive parts though they may be.
