So I’ve ordered the kit for both isopods and springtails, however unsure what type I should buy for a leopard boa. And based on what isopods and spring tails what should I do for the ventilation? Thank you
Since they are from the outdoors, it is not recommended to use isopods that you catch, since they can harbor disease and parasites. You can definitely purchase Armadillidium species from breeders, since they are safe and free from illness/parasites (if you order from a good breeder)
Hii, i have ordered a few things to start an oreo crumble population. I have a few things already like a tub, substrate mix, oak leaves and bark, and sphagnum moss. What else would i need in order to set them up? I know you said springtails but do those need extra/different things?
Hey I’m about to set up a chameleon cage with springtails and hopefully live plants and I was wondering what you think about if I were to try to implement dung beetles
Hi there, springtails and isopods are a better option because dung beetles need a lot more poop to sustain their population than a chameleon could produce.
I wouldn't trust any you find in public places just because you don't know if they've been exposed to chemicals or parasites that could harm your reptile.
Hi, this species requires a higher humidity environment, so I'd recommend fewer, smaller holes of about a centimeter diameter on one side of your bin, and a few on one end of the lid. All isopods require SOME level of ventilation or they will die.
Can't go wrong with Dairy Cows. There are many different species within the cubaris genus, but most of them require a relatively high level of moisture with a lower level of ventilation. Aquariumax Pets has good videos breaking down what different species need.
For powder oranges in a standard indoor room, you want to have adequate ventilation because this species doesn't prefer moisture. At least 9 holes of a centimeter's diameter on the lid of the bin is what I'd recommend. As for armadillidium species, there's high variation between humidity requirements for each species. The best advice I can give is to look up the requirements for each individual species you keep. Aquariumax Pets has good videos breaking down what different species need. For example, zebra and clown species usually need a side with less ventilation to retain more moisture but they don't molt well in stagnant environments, so having a well-ventilated side of your bin with multiple holes is a good idea.
@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter okay thanks i have my reptile room so ill drill some holes in the top for my powder orange and keep a small moist side on one end just in case they need it ! thanks i appreciate the comment ill be getting a mist king and more from you guys soon
Would weed matting make a good vent cover or would it not allow enough air to pass through? It has even finer holes than window screen which I'm hoping will prevent isopod mancae of even the smallest type of isopod from escaping.

I had these bugs in my old house basement never knew they were so important.
They're super important for breaking down organic waste and improving soil fertility!
theyre not bugs theyre crustaceans!!!
Just left your store in Webster, great place. Will be back.
So glad you enjoyed!
You... you use a fancy airtight container to keep fruitflies out, but then melt large holes in the lid... And you don't cover the holes...
Lots of great info and tips.
Fantastic video! thumbs up...

Am I able to use your common "roly poly" in a bioactive bearded dragon cage?

Can't wait to watch this
Just had to drop a comment to say very nice thumbnail work 😂
Why thank you!
Can i use the ones i find at the park or can they kill my gecko?

Im going to be setting up a. Espanyoli “marbelized” and Little Sea C. murina, how much ventilation do these guys need?
great video getting ready to buy some stuff for my bioactive 67 gal tank that’s for my cuban false chameleon and want to culture some isopods
Awesome!
Do rubber duckies need a lot of ventilation?

@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter thank you 😊
Which substrate would you recommend for panda kings? I want to upgrade my group.
My Terra Isopoda substrate is handcrafted for isopods and other detritivores. If you use it on your panda kings, let me know what you think!
Care guide for Amazon milk frog?? Or even Forrest armadillo lizard both I feel like doesn’t have a lot of info on

Do you sprinkle Repashy dry or do you make it gel first? Im getting Dairy cows on Friday need to know how to feed them. Thank you
Hi, we recommend sprinkling it on dry then lightly misting it to keep it in place a bit!
@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Thank you. I will try that.
I'm good with my dairy cows, but unsure of how humid etc for cubaris soil.

Why no coco?
Coco fiber substrate can mold and collect bacteria easily so we don't use it in Terra Isopoda substrate mix.
@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter dang too late. I used some and got bits of mold. Working to get springtails at the moment
what should the ventilation be for powder orange and armidilldium species ?

Hi there, weed matting would restrict air flow too much!
@@TheBioDudeJoshHalter Thanks for the warning.
Omw to buy a kit!!!

Putting half a human into your isopod culture tube is not the way to go.
There are other options.
