95k on my '15XT snd noticed some seepage on driveway, brought it into my dealer, it was the cvt oil chain pump cover, factory warrantied thankfully
Trend: 1. dealer leak test. 2. Reseal cvt chain pump cover. 3. Reseal cvt fluid pan. 4. Replace cvt.... Got my 42k mile '16 FXT back today, i am on my way to trend #4... :( my first subaru, not going well. calling SOA on monday morn.

Mine replace the whole transmission at 35thousand miles 2015 xt. No charge its under warranty
in the future if you ever decide to put an AOS on the FXT, you'll delete that thing as part of the install. Keeping that thing clean is key. Great video as always.
Congrats on no leak btw. My dealer cleaned and had me drive for a month to see if there was any oil... I had some on return.... however, any seepage is bad... the seal should be rock solid... but it sounds like that oil may not have been from a leak but from somewhere else maybe?
i have a AOS in the WRX, i know the PCV gets deleted. i think its the CVT leak, but its a 3 yr leak. you wont see anything for a few months.

Hey Man! Jason here ! So i have A 2015 Wrx Cvt and i Bought it March 31st 2015! Around 15,000 plus miles the Front Diff had a Fluid on the Torx Drain bolt! It makes it Seem like it the Diff But Really It's the Pump for the Cvt! So I pushed the Issue Hard! And So That's what they Figured out! So they had to Replace it under Warranty! So Now that's the Second Transmission! Problem is When the Dealer i didn't Buy it From Long story! Replaced it they didn't Bleed the the Air out Right since It's a Pressurized System! So Guess What it leaked again! Since Soa Extended my warranty til 100,000 I Got it in Again before My Warranty Ended! Now 4 years Later ! I have 152,000 on it and It's leaking again! So Pissed! Trying to Trade in For A Manual or Never Buy a Subaru Again! Now The Third Transmission has been the Best out of the Other two! No Leaks! Now before three weeks ago no Leaks at All ! What changed is I've Had Three sets of Tires I've Bought there! They have Cross Threaded my Lugs Countless times and i they gave me Vouchers to get Fixed! Well My Car was Running like a Champ Until I went to a Shop that Discount works with ! I've heard the same shop and other shops change Them Before! This Last Time i was In The Enclosed Waiting room and The Guy Pounded on one Them So Hard i heard it so Clearly it didn't sound Good at all! So a few days go by and I'm hearing a constant humming Noise On Highway speeds around 60 to 75! And has Been Getting louder and Now is the Same Increased Sound! So I'm thinking wheel Bearing! Well my Car seems Sluggish and Gas Mileage dropped a Bit and My Oil Temp Was Spiking faster than Normal! Like the Engine has more Load than Before without the A/C on ! So i know Something is Up and Different ever Since! See i replaced the Original Rotors that i had Turned once! So At 140,000 Miles They were A little wavy but Not Warped what so Ever! So when i changed them My Car was So Quick! No Resistance at all! Felt brand New again! Put The New Warner Oex Pads! I really Like them! So Can A Diff be Damaged but Hitting the Wheel stud Out? I mean i wouldn't think so Since the Bearing Hub is Mounted with 4 bolts! Ever since my car is Messing up and Now it's leaking again! Third Transmission! !!!!!!!!!!!! PISSED OFF! THREE Transmissions! Three A/c Compressors, acu for the Electric power steering and The Rack ! The heated seat Buttons were both Replaced and Now One them is bad again! All i know is I Test drove a 6 speed And Wish i Never Bought the cvt!....................I'm Going To Work on Trading it! Luckily The shop that Did this Is Looking at my Car tomorrow! Discount Authorized it since i was pretty sure it was the bearing ! Checked it for play ! Notta. So they Say doesn't mean it's not bad ! And it's the Original one ! The Driver's side i replaced! So I've be Stressed for Two Weeks and All i know is If you Cvt Get Rid Of It Trust me Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've Had Three in My WRX Including the One That Came with it! You Do Math ! Trade in while You Have low miles unlike me! I'm Really thinking of Lexus! ...7,000 for the Cvt That the Subaru tells The Dealer to replace since no One Works on them! See Now Why you Trade it! I'm 41 and I know Enough over the Years! This Is A mistake i Made! Probably Cause Auto Is Really Convenient ! Love stick and I love having no Problems! 😊 The Mechanics at my Dealer told me Not Any Issues with the Manual! Besides people who Kill the Clutch! So it's Proof now after you having that leak and I know you did Pcv but Watch closely! The Strange thing! The First told me the Same Thing oil leak! They said drive it and Come back! I didn't like that idea! But i did! And it came back! So if the Cvt has a Leak it has a 11 quarts of High Torque cvt fluid ! So maybe it's just a Bit lower so now its showing Fuild! All i Now is I'm Not happy Since i Bought it! Love to Tell More! 4804860005 ! I'm In Arizona! We all need to Stick Together on this! Anyone with our types of Motor and Transmission! Cvt I Do Like it! Just not Reliable yet! Keep in mind i add only a quarter or less of A quart of oil penz 5w30 ultra! After 5 to 6000 miles! My car has no mods Ever! I always change the Stock air filter! Pulator one Someone talked about it and said you can hear the Turbo spool and they are 11.99 they Did a update for the ecu and it lowered my boost pressure from 24. Something to 21 or less! Just ! My Car had to made on a Monday! I hope The Best For Cvt Issues and the Owners who have them! I've had three in my Wrx! Warranty paid for them all! So now no more Warranty! 7,000 New tranny diff together plus labor ! Yeah i can't See That Happening! That is Ridiculously Insane!. Rich or Not ! I was In A almost 5 year Relationship and the 4th Year When i bought this Car it started A Bad Thing in my Life ever Since Just A Headache mostly ! I mean I Been So Easy on my Car Letting warm up Etc ! Hope to Know About what Happens ! I just Hope Something Gets worked out with all these Leaks! Honestly You will know when it leaks!One way i knew something was Leaking i do a lot of highway driving and the Wind allows it to drip on the Exhaust and it almost smells like gas But It's the Cvt fluid!You Don't have to Crawl under neath or jack it up ! You just know if it happens ! Almost like a unburned fuel type of smell! I Smell when Something Off! And i Can Stands Leaks!😁

sorry to hear that dude, hard to have an honest shop with good mechanic. Mine is 14 forester with CVT. I got lucky no leaks. I actually came across a few threads that they had oil burn engine on the manual one though.
I got a quote from Subaru dealership my town they wanted $450 to replace his part. That’s the labor tax and part unbelievable.

I just had a leak like this fixed on my 2015 Levorg turns out it was CVT fluid coming from the pump chain cover.
I had a 16 FXT and had the same issue. Trans replaced at 17k mi.
no way! ha.. ours prob has over 36k miles now, no idea really. we just drive it. still no more leaks. ill check it sometime soon, now that you mentioned it.
What socket size did you used to remove it? I'm thinking of doing it on my 17 Forester XT. I'm having some engine shaking when the engine is cold and the RPM would drop to almost zero.

Did you clean your pcv valve prior to this video and this is a check up? And that stopped your oil seepage?

Actually carburetor cleaner would’ve been the best carburetor cleaner used to have a film that would resist gunk and build up.
yes, or brake cleaner even. but electrical spray was all i had..
I just replaced my PCV valve on my flat six Subie, I was thinking the same thing and on all our Subaru engines how much Oil is A concern
205”lb? Can I divide that by 12 for my lb/Ft torque wrench? 😄. But really..
as long as you have a good ft. lb. torque wrench that can do those low numbers accurately. (17 ft. lbs)
