NEW TECHNIQUE! Dry Botanical Dutch Pour On Stunning Ombré Background Fluid Art/Acrylic Pour Painting

- Hello everyone welcome to my TH-cam Channel, Amber's Awfully Awesome Art! I am a fluid artist from Dallas, Texas and I am excited to share my journey with you all.
Today I will be showing you a NEW TECHNIQUE!!!! WOHOOOO!!! I decided to elevate the dry Dutch Pour done a canvas with no base paint. I was inspired by @RinskeDouna's video where she used Amsterdam Acrylic Spray paint to create an Ombre back ground and then she did a Dutch Pour on this background. I didn't like my Dutch Pour so I decided to "tweak" it and make it look more like @TinasInspiredArt's Botanical Dutch Pour signature style... I used @thislittlepiggy3349 neon pigment Techno to create some beautiful color contrast!

Materials:
18x18 inch gallery wrapped canvas purchased at Jerry's Artarama
Paints used:
Montana Gold- Lime Green Spray Paint- Matte
Krylon- Peacock Blue- Satin
Amsterdam Prussian Blue
Amsterdam Titanium White
Amsterdam Greenish Blue
Amsterdam Turquoise Blue
Amsterdam Olive Green Light
TLP Techno- pigment
Amsterdam Gold
Pouring Medium- courtesy @piecesoftaraartistry
50% American Floetrol 50% GAC 800
Mix this PM at a 5:1 ratio.
5 parts PM to 1 part paint- mix well!
**NO WATER WAS ADDED**
How to Mix Pigments for this technique
Squirt GAC 100 to wet pigments
Add a scoop of regular gel gloss (any brand)
Mix well and add whatever pouring medium you like.

Thank you so much!!! Can’t wait for you to try it! I would spray Krylon is resistant acrylic pour spray in gloss after the spray paint part. That way the Dutch pour moves better on the canvas… 🥰💕❤️🙏

Gorgeous Amber! Got an idea for you-make another one and resin the leaves. Then outline with a Posca pen and resin again. Super 3D! ❤❤

Thanks August!!! Kanella and Rinske have done this but they didn’t make it look botanical… when I blew it out it looked like big ole blob so I thought why not tweak and came up with this technique! Glad you liked it!!!

Love your half circle. Any tips. Do you use a plate or something to get such a perfect circle ….then spray?

Thank you SO much! I used a wooden round from the hardware store but anything round will work even a round baking pan… I just lifted it quickly with the edges of my fingers…

Thank you so much dear! 🙏💕🥰 Posca pens are acrylic markers. The Posca brand is pretty good. You can get them from Amazon or any art store. I have found Posca pens to be the best! Hope this helps!!!

What is a post a pen?
It’s called a Posca Pen and they are acrylic pens/markers…
It’s better not to have lines
The client wanted lines and a 3D effect.
Using that pen at the end, ruined it for me

So I'm building the courage to try your wonderful techniques. To confirm...on the Amsterdam paints you used your 5:1 ratio of pouring medium of American floetrol and gac 800, correct?
Hi Calli! I can’t wait to see what you make!!! And you are correct! 5:1 ratio so I add 5 ounces of the floetrol/GAC 800 pouring medium to 1 ounce paint. I prefer Amsterdam, Winsor & Newton and Liquitex. I love golden acrylics but for this particular technique they are too pigmented and will take over the painting. I also mix a big batch of the pouring medium so I have 64 ounces. It consists of 32 ounces floetrol and 32 ounces GAC 800. If GAC 800 isn’t available then I have used the Golden Gloss Pouring Medium it the Liquitex Gloss Medium with the green label. I hope this helps!!!
One more thing please...did you wait after you sprayed the lime and blue before placing round wood piece?
Yes I waited for it to dry which is about 15 to 20 minutes depending on the spray you use
