I feel for the woman who did not check out the neighborhood before moving in. Of course the landlord knew what type of neighborhood in which her property was located.
I always tell people to visit the neighborhood during the day, during the night and then again on the weekend! People change at all times of the day. I did this when I moved into my condo I drove by there after midnight on a Friday. I drove by there on a Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. You have to do your homework!
I sympathize with the defendant in the second case but to a point. I can understand really liking a piece of rental property and being eager to move into it but you gotta know what you're getting into beforehand, literally. Know not only what the property is like but also the neighborhood day AND night and she didn't do that.
They said the alternator was bad and so the car would not have run anyway because that drains the battery. I believe she had the vehicle towed to the shop. But sometimes I feel these are actors too!
