Tried this at a convention and thought it was good but not something that I would play over other games, particularly the similarly animal-themed Cascadia. I agree that the components and art are lovely. However, not being able to wipe/reset the tokens on the board (like with Cascadia's nature tokens) really brings out Alex's point about a starved market. I also experienced a point the Dice Tower mentioned in their review: the randomness of a card reveal and draw that happens to match the board that someone has already been building can lead to some very unsatisfying wins or defeats. I think that there's not enough counterplay or randomness mitigation in this game. Even a (house) rule like receiving a "reset the whole market/reset 1 market space" token for each cube that you place on an objective card could be game-changing. Also, not penalizing unfinished cards makes hate drafting/draft denial quite powerful. I might even suggest awarding negative points for cards without a single cube on them.
i think is right to be personal, as a viewer i choose yours reviews because i want your personal view about a game... and this format where you say what you like/dislike and what people might like/dislike make an enough unbiased overview on the game to get a personal comment about it... like i know now this is a fun game but binging it can ruin it, so if i get it i should maybe rotate it with others similar games instead of full diving into it (great review as always)
The only time I've played this was against Prof Meg on BGA and she crushed me if I remember correctly 😂... I need to hop back on there and play some more!
In addition to Reef, I think this game is similar to Neotopia. This game and River Valley Glassworks are the two games that my wife and I have been playing several times a week. I just ordered Diatoms and will be throwing that in the mix once it’s delivered.
I enjoy this cute game on BGA. But I don't think it would get played enough to justify a purchase. My favorite of the recent littlish games I've played is Knarr, which seems to me very replayable.

haha always happy for a rematch :)
Was waiting the whole video for the Reef comparison and agree 100%
My wife got me this game for our anniversary. Love it. Perfect for my nephew and niece.
Love the Luna top btw.

I'm curious why you chose a rating scale from 1-5 instead of 1-10?
For me it would be tedious to always add the .5 when talking about ratings 😄
It's a longer answer than a comment reply, But I will say that once upon a time I asked the audience and a 5-point scale was the most requested answer
