Open House: A renovated Victorian semi in south London

Despite needing an immense amount of work and the topsy-turvy layout, which meant the living room and dining area were upstairs and the bedrooms and bathroom were downstairs, the generously sized rooms in this Victorian semi persuaded the owners to go for it.
The cool blues, warm wall colours and raw woods combine to create a serene feel in the spacious sitting room. The fireplace was bought at a house clearance for just £25. Lots of hard work transformed it from a wreck into a striking focal point.The large kitchen-diner is their biggest decorating success. Opting for high-level glass cabinets instead of traditional wall and base cabinetry, perfectly demonstrates how a high street kitchen can be given a whole new look, with careful design work and a few embellishments.
The original decorating theme for the bedroom had been dusky pink and green, however it didn’t work at all. So as soon as the decorators had finished the owners redecorated the room themselves, using texture and metallic colours to create a luxurious feel.A surprise new arrival meant a rethink for the spare room, which was now going to have to double as a nursery. So a colour scheme to appeal to all ages was needed.Both grandmas sleep in here, too, when they come to visit and they love the bright, fun colour scheme, complete with a trio of elephants decal.The bathroom feels as cosy and welcoming as the rest of the house. The side of the double-ended cast-iron bath has been painted in a cheerful shade of blue.
The pink vanity unit was once a scruffy, dark piece of furniture, bought for just £10. Now it’s been totally transformed and adds real glamour to this functional space.
Old wooden fruit crates have been made into practical and quirky shelving in the snug office space.
The spacious light-filled hall houses a second workspace and reading area.

Who thought it was a good idea to have a 60's-70's glazed front door on a classic Victorian house ? Though I must say the interior comes together quite well.

Ghastly colours!! Ideal Home seems to be obsessed with dark and bland blues and greys even still in 2019..
