    Some of the most frustrating things for me:
    1) Not understanding how roots/skillshots worked and having Morgana and Brand be my most banned champions. Thought they were crazy OP but no, I just couldn’t dodge
    2) Only building basic components for items or not even buying items. I remember being about 10 games into League and I was only building ruby crystals on Ashe.
    3) Having no clue what I was doing when jungling, or knowing what a “gank” was
    4) Being pissed at how OP Veigar’s cage is

First time I thought I had to rightclick enemies and it just cancelled my ult, second time I tried left clicking, third time I thought maybe he just shoots automatically so I sat there doing nothing. • @josh7825
    @josh7825 2 ปีที่แล้ว +74

    Similar to the Jhin one, my friend used to think TF ult was just there for global vision and never used the tp part.
    The one thing I remember doing is stocking up on potions, preferably having 5 at all times. Guess I thought the effects would stack, and 50g for some health seemed worth it.
    Also, wards. I used to think warding was a waste of time, even as support, since they would just disappear after a few minutes.

    • @kostas0802

      I did the same but with opposite results with noc ult. When I first countered him (weekly rotation) I was like: I can blind people and walk to them without them being able to see me! I had no clue there was an active that lets you insta jump on them. I actually reached mastery 4 or so on him without using my ult correctly XD
      I also played master yi on every role and spammed Q off cooldown (even on minions). All other champs seemed pretty useless as they didn't have that W healing, so when I trying someone else (don't remember whom) I was low hp and waited to die so I can come back to life with more health (reacall is a thing?). Also, his ult was the "I am speed" button. I had no clue what stats were back then. I thought AD is auto attacks and AP for abilities (ability power you know) and armor is something like a shield or something.
      Needless to say that I didn't know jungle was an actual role. A friend of mine told me that I should not hit the monsters and generally whatever is inside the jungle, since i may get killed by them, so I tried to keep my distance off these creepy and harmful creatures. Also, I had that normal cast on so I had to double press a button to do something and itemization was buying the better looking item from the recommended ones. Fun times not gonna lie...

      @kostas0802 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wladynoszhighlights5989 at that time I was playing normal blind pick, where you can find many beginners so both enemies and allies sometimes did as silly things as I did.
      As for the nocturne part specifically I had many successful ganks even if I used half of my ult, since enemies didn't really respect my potential presence on their lane (maybe bc they thought I was too bad for not using my ult correctly to kill them). The fun part was that I got a quadra with noc while still not knowing about the ult recast XD
      Tbh, the first month or so I didn't know there was chat in the game because for some reason it was disabled by default, so I may have been flamed very hard back then but I will never find out and tbh I don't really wanna know. Sometimes when I played with friends they told me that the enemies bm me in all-chat but as I said... no chat

    @Zero-eo8pq 2 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    Some of these were actually niche or cheese strategies
    Teleporting to lane would allow you to invade or hide in a bush with the assurance the enemy team wasn't aware
    Smite in lane was used either to gain access to jungle items or in hyper-push lanes/comps
    Igniting immediately was occasionally done because an old (now removed) mastery granted a small stat boost while it was on cooldown
    While not buying anything to start was always dumb, skipping the starting items for basic components (to get a head start on big items and for more health pots) was a niche strategy for basically ever
    Selling boots is often done late-game to get extra direct combat power
    ... 6 boots is the optimal build for Dr. Mundo because it helps him go where he pleases

    I used to take exaust every game thinking that it deals damage. I also avoided playing champions with abilities that didnt do something imediatly. For example, I wouldn't play Garen because his Q doesn't do anything when I press it, I need to hit someone after pressing the button. Same thing whit Jax's W, Shyvana Q's and others. To me, it was really hard to understand this concept of "your next attack will deal more damage" and stuff like that. I remember thinkng Garen was garbage cuz two of his abilities didn't do anything (Q and W). Good old times.

    I recently introduced some of my friends to league so here are some more things:
    Trying to move with wasd and accidentally wasting flash.
    The cycle of ignoring turrets and diving level 2, getting absolutely obliterated and then never going near a turret again, even when there are minions nearby.
    Maxing whatever ability looked the strongest visually. I remember maxing e once when I was playing mf and my brother walked in. He asked me if I was maxing it for the slow or the waveclear. I was like bro it makes bullets rain from the sky it's obviously the strongest ability duh.
    Not understanding normal and magic damage and looking for a pattern. I always thought Katarina has to deal normal damage since she throws knifes.
    Bonus: one of my friends played a lot of fortnite at the time and I told him to push and recall. He instantly ignored the minions, went in to fight and died. He then explained to me that in fortnite pushing means aggressively attacking.

    The thing that really confused me when I started playing league was the runes system. I knew what a moba was and what the goal of the game was (pick a champion, destroy turrets and then destroy the base) but what I had no idea about was the runes. When I unlocked them I was sooo confused. At first I didn't pay attention to them. However, when I also unlocked the ability too customise them myself I just started doing a bunch of random stuff. I just picked things I thought sounded cool or strong without thinking about how they would fit the champion. For example I used to play Yone top with domination as primary (dark harvest, taste of blood, eye ball collection and ultimate hunter) and precision secondary (overheal and legend bloodline). I also created a rune with sorcery in primary (arcane comet, manaflow band, absolute focus and gathering storm) and resolve in the secondary (demolish and overgrowth) and just called it "the mage rune". Thats right, I picked the same rune for every champion that I knew used magic. Tho the only mage champion I played consistently was, you won't believe it, Ryze. Obviously it didn't go so well. Another funny thing, which is also why I refused to play this game for years, is that I thought that mobas barely required any skill. I thought that since you could only move horizontally (without the ability to jump, climb, fly etc) it would be super easy to land all attacks and therefore champions with the most health would always win since they would just outrank everyone else. I also thought that the most long ranged champions would always outclass the short ranged ones mainly through kiting (yes I had the concept of kiting in my head before I even started playing league tho I didn't know how to call it). Turned out I was extremely wrong lol.

    • @dommaster661
      @dommaster661 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, the kiting Problem was my problem too. To this time I must decide between Ashe or Garden to unlock the Champion as free. I say to me what if I don't do the max range attack or I'm to near the enemy, so I decided to play never range champs. I've never played a moba or know the concept of kiting.

Also I thought it was ok to leave the game in the middle of a match (which I did cuz I was called for dinner). I didnt realize that it was such a big deal that I left my team at that time.
    Relating to this vid, I was guilty of using smite in lane to kill minions faster...

  • @SaiyanGamer95
    @SaiyanGamer95 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I actually did believe the most expensive items meant they were the best. I got into League because of Ahri, so I built things like Trinity Force (this was during Season 4 when the Sion Rework was a new thing), DFG, and Rabadon's. I didn't start learning about active items until later and took me even longer before I could use them while in combat. Sadly, just as I was starting to get the hang of it, DFG was removed.
    And when Nocturne ulted, I would hide in the nearest bush, since I didn't know how his Ult worked.
    I also thought you could have two people in top lane, since that's what Training and Vs AI taught us.
    And this wasn't really a dumb thing, but pretty reckless. As Warwick, I would get a Hunter's Machete and 2 Health Pots, sit in base until I could buy a third, and make a beeline to the Dragon Pit (this was back when the Dragon only gave gold) and would solo it. Being that it was old Warwick, who healed on every auto-attack, and his Q had good healing, this was a non-issue. If the enemy jungler came (like to gank bot and they happened to see me), then I was in trouble.

I remember for the longest time I didnt like junglers cuz I didnt like to jungle, until I tried them in ARAM and realized a lot of junglers like J4, Lee sin, Gragas, etc had some of the most fun playstyles for me and I didnt want to pick up jg so i started playing them in top, mid, and sometimes support. Obviously I wouldnt take someone like Amumu adc but just cuz its recommended that a champ b played in a certain role in champ select, it doesnt mean that’s their only role. Mao Kai and Swain both started off as solo laners but now they’re recommended only as supports

    5. This is 100% just me, but I used to ask my enemy jungler in all chat where they started so I could learn where to start
    6. When I started I mained Yi, then lost to a xin, played xin, lost to an olaf, played olaf... so on so forth
    7. 1% crit rune
    8. If it has CC, It can support! (Sorry teammates back then)
    9. ALWAYS buy mobis. Every game so I don't waste time not being in lane
    10. NEVER go back, you can always back with MORE gold when you're forced to

    When I started playing, I was very used to games where dashes were something that you could just spam to quickly move around, which is what I did with flash
    Took me a bit to get out of that habit
