Your interpretation of War of Hormones is spot on. It is such a shame that they were ripped apart for it. They were only speaking truth to young men going through puberty.

I agree. Plus like BTS have always done by bringing awareness to things. The people that have a problem with it (I do respect and understand people who might though) that society, parents, etc. need to teach their kids about to approach these feelings and thoughts…hopefully this make sense.

its literally a satire about a teenage boy going through a hormonal war. the lyrics werent meant to be taken as their own "thoughts" on things. but people just entirely missed the point of it.

Suga literally said that it’s an honest song that you don’t expect idols to released cuz the whole “Dark and wild” was about that , them speaking honestly about their thoughts of certain issues they lived in high school , specially love that’s why you also have the song “embarrassed “ , “let me know”, “24/7”, “look here “ and ofc the title track “danger” all those songs are really honest about how the guys felt when it comes with relationships.

"The baby is rapping?!" 🤣 I still feel that shock even after 2 years as ARMY. And I LOVE War of Hormone and your reaction to it was so great. To me these lyrics were just the side of edgy. They were honest and horny but still playful and respectful. I will never understand people having a an issue, thinking they were misogynistic. Let she who's never had a dirty thought cast the first stone.

the song is literally called “war of hormones” and they’re talking about how weak they are as young boys with hormones lol how girls do nothing and they freak out bc of them and battling their hormones to not be idiots all the time. Jhope talked about bursting a pimple ffs lol this is like the only song with lyrics like this bc it’s an intentional concept… and the only reason they got shit for it… is bc it’s a certified bop with sick choreo and would have been a song to reckon with honestly … bc everyone that hears it loves it… and they stopped performing it all together even though it’s so good. That’s more people in power trying to hold them down lol sad bc it’s so good!

When RM wrote the lyrics he wrote "I need u friend", but if you sing it like that it doesn't sound good, so he changed it to "I need u girl", but the real meaning is that I need u friend, so it's a breakup song and at the same time it fits into the story they're doing. So there's a thing called BTS Universe. It's a story line. You need to watch all the MV's in order to understand it and "I NEED U" is the first part of the storyline. It's almost like a puzzle but lemme tell you it will blow your mind. The storyline itself is very deep and YES it includes Fake Love!
RM - works in a gas station, the clients treat him like shit (throwing money on the ground instead of giving it to him, etc) and imagery of him smoking.
Jin - in a room alone, the flower petals start burning, he is a very important character in the storyline. (All the MVs under the same storyline can be found by looking at the description of the videos, they are marked with "BU content certified by Big Hit Entertainment").
Suga - in a motel, missing someone (scene in the bed), buys gasoline and burns the room with himself inside (suicide).
J-Hope - is sick and needs meds (apparently suffers from narcolepsy, he actually has munchausen’s syndrome), but abuses the drugs and passes out in the sidewalk of a road from an overdose
Jimin - in the bathtub burning a photo, he seems in distress and scared, tries to drown himself
V - catches his dad (the dad is the alcoholic one, not V) abusing his sister, in anger and adrenaline attacks his dad and accidentally kills him
Jungkook - gets into street fights, seems to not care about anything (depression), ends up being hit by a car at the end

      1) I do agree that are taking positively about women for the most part
      2) while I do not think that men should think some lines they way that they did about women, but I think it is an important topics that needs to be talked about, especially with younger people. I think it fits well with BTS bringing awareness and to make sure parents etc. teach their kids this…
      3) personally I don’t have a problem with it but I respect people who do and understand why they might not like it.

@@victoriab98 the song says, according to some translators, "I'm 18, I know everything I need to know". Even the most straightforward translation says "I'm 18, I know about this stuff". They were smart enough, even at their age, to know that a 18-year-old doesn't know sh... It's obviously a sarcastic view on how *some* guys that age see the world. But they were apologetic about it anyway, because they realized how some people was understanding it (and of course "we didn't mean it that way" wouldn't cut either), and they haven't included that kind of language anymore, even in a sarcastic way

    • @zara7302
      @zara7302 ปีที่แล้ว +35

@@victoriab98 that’s one way to look at it but let’s be real, woh wasn't misogynistic. It was just an honest song about what guys in that age range go through. they were straight up saying that they struggle with their hormones when they see a pretty girl and that’s just then being honest. the title itself gives a clear idea to how they see it. a war. an internal conflict and it's true to what guys in their late teens and early 20s go through. bts have always been open about talking about their experiences and being a voice of people their age and they’re artists..they were simply playing an honest role! but that’s my way of looking at the song

BTS was originally conceptualized by Big Hit Entertainment as a hip hop group. In fact, that's why RM, Suga and J-Hope (along with his dancing skills) were the first three signed as members of BTS.
This this is why a lot of their earlier music was hip hop heavy.

RM was so upset to think that he had hurt ARMY that he started delving in psychology and consulted with a Professor of Women's Studies to review his music to make sure that it did not happen again. As a result we were given the masterpiece Map of the Soul 7 which is based on the teachings of Carl Jung. 🥰

It's fascinating seeing people see BTS from Dynamite and Butter first, then backtrack to their earliest albums and it's always , "woah!" 😂
Regarding their styling from No More Dream being more uniform compared to their current styles... there's really nothing to it, they didn't have money then! They had the vision, but didn't have a lot of money to execute it in such a polished manner. For example, they used to wear CHANNEL clothes (seriously) and were often mocked for it. It's really wild how far they've gone!
Same sentiments about War Of Hormone, it got so much controversy and flak mainly because of errors in translation. And you're right, WOH was true to their age: young boys who were honest about their hormonal thoughts. The song didn't feel disrespectful to me at all.

They debuted as a hip-hop group and at first they all had to raise their shirts to show their abs then it was decided that it would only be Jimin. He was super embarrassed until he realised that the fans loved it and now, as I expect you know, the clothes come off at least once in a concert although now he usually only shows his muscled shoulders and a bit of tummy. They got in hot water with War of Hormone. Some people took it seriously and called it sexist but it was just an honest song about teenage boys. The best bit is Hobi saying he's going to pop his pimple. You need to watch the studio dance practice version where SUGA is banging his head on the studio ceiling. Save Me should be followed by I'm Fine as they are a pair. The stage version shows the graphic for Save Me turn round into I'm Fine which is such a touching song. Try this one th-cam.com/video/wu8D3numKlQ/w-d-xo.html Save Me was filmed in atrocious conditions in one take. The cameraman was a hero. There is a behind the scenes for it. I Need U shows their characters in the BU at both their happiest and at their lowest ebb. I'm sure that some kind ARMYs will lead you through the BU.

I'm sure that translation from Korean to English didn't help as well. Too bad they're not performing this song anymore, although to be honest, at their current age, it might be a bit weird. it's not one of those timeless/ageless topics, and it probably wouldn't suit them now. still, a great song, one of my favs.

BTS very cleverly make songs for anyone to enjoy and interpret their own meaning on face value without the need for the BU... its a deep dive and a complicated one at that... its ok to let people just enjoy them and their vast array of music without adding confusion to relatively new listeners... information overload is not for everyone some people actually find that direction very overwhelming and sometimes offputting when just getting to them.. we all have our own journey with respect 💜

Yes, you're correct about the parallels in Fake Love. :)
Suga is always associated with fire in the storyline and Jimin with water, for reasons, heh.
Technically the next part of the storyline is not a music video. It is a short film called On Stage Prologue. Then the music video Run is the third part of the storyline.

BTS was formed to be and debuted as a hip hop group. JK is the youngest and was 16 in international years when they debuted in 2013. Korea has a different system. A person is already 1 year of age on the day they are born.
"I Need You" is the song that changed everything for them. There was no looking back after that.

War of Hormone is a whole thing. The boys got a lot of hate for the song, antis said it was sexist. While I’m non-binary, every single woman I’ve sent these lyrics to have found absolutely nothing wrong with them. At most they’ve said that the lyrics are cringey in the way teenage-hood often is and that it shows how boys become infatuated with the target of their affections. My mum even said it “it sounds like an ode to women to me. A very teenage and silly version of it, but it’s sweet’’. It was mostly BTS antis and fans of other K-pop groups who decided to blow the lyrics out of proportion at the beginning and then it stuck.
Anyways, the song is basically a satire. A parody. They're basically making fun of boys and how they act during their teenage years. It's meant to be cringe-y and exaggerated. How anyone took the lyrics seriously when they talk about popping their pimples is absolutely beyond me. Literally, HOW? And even if it were somehow serious, the lyrics are basically an ode to women. Saying they're perfect and how men worship them. It's cheesy and cringe-y, but it's absolutely not misogynistic. Geez. Not only was WoH satire, but even in their "worst" moments, BTS have treated women better than most male celebrities. Still, I have huge respect for the way BTS (and specifically RM) reacted to this controversy. This was so ridiculous and yet they took it seriously and RM went on having his lyrics checked by professors of gender studies to make sure it's all ok.
Honestly, this "controversy" wasn't really about this song being problematic. It was blown out of proportion specifically because it was BTS. Even in kpop, there have been a lot of groups that have done WAY worse and they weren't being cancelled over it. I don't think this was really fans being concerned about a real issue, but antis, who were looking for a reason to take BTS down. Sure, there could have been someone who genuinely felt uncomfortable for some reason, but I would say it would be very few people. Not nearly enough to cause a huge controversy. Especially not in an environment where way worse than this was daily bread. If this was any other group, no one would say a word.
On a funny note, ARMY always says that WOH is the "straightest" BTS video/song and yet Jimin still gets slapped on the arse.

Good reaction, ty. I Need U came out in 2015. Suga was the one on the bed. V killed his dad who was hurting his sis. So we got physical abuse. JK did not fight back because he wanted the pain. He is in pain because he lost his friend. Suga killed himself in the fire. Jimin is depressed and tried to kill himself. Hobi overdosed. RM is upset because he lost his friends. Jin is really important in the story and not spoiling... =0p So BTS never sings about girls. Not really. In this case girl means friend. Oh yes JK did get hit by a car good spotting there. Love the song its a banger. But oh boy id the MV complex and deep. The storyline is still ongoing!!! This song got them more notice in US and Korea. hugs. -2019 ARMY NY USA 💜
Yes, Love I Need U by BTS. It's a fav. THE MV IS PART OF THEIR HIDDEN BU STOERYLINE IN SOME OF THEIR SONGS. So it's a lot. But they won their 1st award after this song. This story is deep complex and heartbreaking. This MV depicts suicide, overdose, and the hardships of life. It shows that when they are together they are happy and have no worries. But each one is hiding baggage and are suffering alone. This song resonated with fans and this story is why BTS are the best. By the way your bias is Jimin I think. =0p It came out in 2015. Suga was the one on the bed and burned the room. V killed his dad who was hurting his sis. So we got physical abuse. JK did not fight back because he wanted the pain. RM is upset because he lost his friends and is alone. Jin is really important in the story and not spoiling... =0p So BTS never sings about girls. Not really. In this case girl means friend. I'm saying this again so that you don't forget the order of the BU universe!!
    .
One of the first things fans learn about BTS is they don't mess around when it comes to their music videos. Each of the group's visuals is stunning, and they never fail to leave the viewer thinking about its possible meaning behind it. As new fans start to piece together BTS' music videos, they begin to realize that many of them actually connect. The overarching storyline is known as the Bangtan Universe(BU), and it exists not just in BTS' visuals, but in their webtoons and short stories as well. Since it can get pretty complicated, here's every BTS video that's in the Bangtan Universe.
    .
To summarize, the BU involves a fictional storyline that has all the BTS members playing their own character. These characters have their own backstory, but they all connect in some way. If you see certain scenes or symbols repeating in BTS' music videos, that's because fans concluded the story involves some very shocking stuff that I ain't spoiling, you have to figure the story out yourself😂.
It can be difficult trying to differentiate which videos are part of the BU, but according to fans, those that belong to this world will have the words "BU content certified by Big Hit Entertainment" at the bottom of the video's description. However, just because some videos don't have it, doesn't mean they're not connected. According to fans, here's every BTS video that's in the BU. THE BU UNIVERSE VIDEOS IN ORDER THAT YOU HAVE TO REACT TO-
    .
    1. "I Need U" MV (original version)
    2. HYYH On Stage: Prologue
    3. "Run" MV
    4. "I Need U" MV (Japanese version) [its not really necessary to watch this but if you wanna get more details i guess you can watch it.]
    5. "Run" MV (Japanese version) [this is also not necessary unless u want more details]
    6. Epilogue: Young Forever
    7. Wings short films {1.Begin, 2.Lie, 3.Stigma, 4.First Love, 5.Reflection, 6.Mama, 7.Awake}
    8. "Blood Sweat &Tears" MV
    9. "Blood Swear &Tears" MV (Japanese version) [its necessary this time.]
    10. Love Yourself Highlight Reels
    11. Euphoria: Theme Of Love Yourself Wonder
    12. "Fake Love" teasers
    13. "Fake Love" MV (Extended version)
    14. Jin's "Epiphany"
    15. "Film out" MV [BTS' "Film Out" doesn't have anything about the BU listed in its video description, but ARMYs are convinced it's still part of the group's fictional world. Since it makes many references toward their "Fake Love" MV, fans think "Film Out" takes place in an alternate universe, which could explain its connection to the rest of BTS' visuals without being directly involved in the BU]
After watching all of these and making your own theories you must wanna know the whole real story right? Then you should watch the whole storyline summary + explained by xCeleste. [Watch the recent one] link- th-cam.com/video/2-DEu3ZJtEU/w-d-xo.html

Every comeback. (New album) with BTS is different and you never know what you are going to get. One thing for sure is it is never boring being ARMY.
Please don’t even attempt the BU until you feel ready yourself, some ARMY have this thing of pushing the BU onto people before they are ready. It is very confusing and complicated, it is a long story that has been chopped into small pieces and rearranged into no particular order, you will have to remember the slightest details and try to get them into some sort of order only to find it is not what you think it was. Besides the videos about(25 or so) there are books, webtoon and little hints from any and all sources to do with BTS.
Is it worth it? Well if you have that sort of detective mind probably ,but a lot of people give up trying to make sense of it and go for the explanation videos after watching the BU videos because it is a complicated, detailed storyline. The webtoon and books have a lot of the explanations so the videos alone just don’t give you enough information So my advice is enter at your own risk. But please wait a bit longer to discover the intriguing, frustrating and beautiful adventure know as the BU.

People feel like BTS were in their consciousness since ~2016/2017 because of DNA, which was the song that "introduced" them to the states. But the members [not all, but more or less] were living together since 2010 and and BTS the group debuted in 2013. Their hip hop concept was, at the time, considered passé in terms of the KPOP industry, but that was their strength and they added dance moves and improved their vocals as they went along. I Need U was a shift in their concept/tone, but from my perspective, their artistry/quality improved exponentially.

MY Comment on idolhood. The truth. Jimin confessed later that he only ate once every 10 days because he wanted to look buff lifting up his shirt for their debut. That's called an eating disorder. He also got addicted to practicing for perfection. He used to sleep at the dance studio so he could practice and practice. These are actual words from his own mouth. So I tell young kids...do NOT worship these idols. You have no idea the pressure they are under. They all to this day will confess on vlives if they have gained one pound. You have to realize they are all really skinny. When Jin got depressed during covid he got down to 120. He usually only weighs 140. On a recent vlive after their L.A. concert JK confessed he doesnt eat before or during concerts. He wants to look good for the fans. If you continue on this journey you will see him barely able to walk off the stage after concerts...fainting. One time he went unconcious. On a Vlive after a Las Vegas concert he was late because he had gone to work out after the concert. He trained with his boxing coach. Once he got to the vlive Jimin confessed he had eaten. JK called him traitor for eating. I am not making this up. It gets overlooked a lot because fans only want to see the "happy" side of being an idol. This pressure of staying underweight and skinny holds true for all idol groups...boys and girls. Many a girl did not debut as an idol because they couldn't get skinny enough during training. The brand new girl group that just debuted, "New Jeans"....just look at them. I have a feeling none of them weigh even 100 pounds. And if you didn't have the visual of very long straight black hair...you would have never been picked for that group! J-Hope confessed he lost 5K (11lbs) before his Lollapalooza concert. He was so anxious he couldn't eat. Luckily Jimin showed up to support him, and he was able to feel supported, relax, get some sleep, and finally eat some food. I strongly believe J-Hope would have collapsed on stage if Jimin had not showed up. So...as you admire BTS and their talent realize that their lives are not easy to live under such pressure. That's why they finally took a break. They were all burned out. They work over 360 days a year. No days off. Finally last Christmas they got to have time off even though they had begged for Christmas time off for years. Thank God Hybe agreed to let them take a break. However, if you watch TH-cam there is new BTS content all the time. They still work really hard!
