I tell you I'm 41, found mic drop last year beginning of pandemic. This song made me go back to doing workouts, and made me an ARMY.
Ain't gonna lie but that was hella lit for Kpop. No disrespect, just that I did NOT know these guys could rap and hit me hard, yet I don't know a word of Korean. Thanks for the reaction. 🔥🐉
Yeah two of them an underground rapper before join BTS. And yeah we won't know whether we like it or not if we do not know them.

Yepp BTS are the best rappers in kpop & even on par with famous amerian rappers. They were underground rappers & learned about hip hop culture in an american hustle life while meeting rappers like coolio & warren g etc who teached them. 1 of the rappers called RM also had a great collab with Wale called Change which is about social issues & police brutality.
They also had a collab with juice wrld & they themselves have amazing rap songs with deep lyrics like ugh & ddaeng. They are involved in writing & producing their songs & have many royalties. For the language - we are living in a global world where a different language is no barrier anymore. There are many translations & subs, so if you check them out I'm sure you will be positively suprised & get the reason why they have so many fans.
Ngl, they are better than most American rappers nowadays, who only do toxic diss songs, flex about hoes, money and other sad things. (There are better BTS hip-hop songs than Mic Drop)
If you like Old school hip-hop, then BTS is for you. They learned how to rap listening to the OGs and their rap styles would give you a sense of familiarity in a refreshing way.
BTS rappers song-write even non-hiphop songs for the vocalists 'cause they wanna explore other types of music too. Their lyricism is still unmatched in these non-rap songs, with tasteful wordplay, references and metaphors. They often switch back and forth at least 2 languages in each song. (while free styling too)
They talk about social injustices, society, youth, self development, self reflection, self love, their fans, their egos and flaws. A really interesting thing about BTS is that they're not afraid to be vulnerable and really be articulate with their feelings in songs and real life. They feel like real, genuine and sincere people you can relate to and listen to.
Also, the Korean language is much more nuanced than English. There are some cultural aspects of their wordplay that you would miss if you didn't know much about Korean culture but fans will gladly explain them to you if you're interested.
Have you heard Daechwita yet, Suga the mint haired guy spits bars, its in Korean but damn he is fast as hell.
Thanks for checking them out but you should know they are not like K Pop artists. You will not get this anywhere else (least not now) but check out Ddaeng, Ugh, Outro Tear, Daechwita, Hip Hop Lover for starters haha 😆

I’ve been to the clubs here Dallas and they been playing mic drop before the pandemic and still do now since things reopened in a hip hop club. And their other songs I hear at different clubs as well

And I LOST MY MIND (just like y'all did) because it was so good: beat, lyrics, rap, dance, video....I immediately went down the BTS rabbit hole and I don't ever want to come out
This is why Bts is so big the write about meaningfull lyrics, like depression, menthal health, society injustices, cyber bulling and haters
RM's line "live a life man, Good Luck" was to all the "friends" that turned thier back on them and abandoned them when they started out

BTS is very diverse with their music, which why so many people can relate to them whether or not they can fully understand what they’re saying but ALL THE MEMBERS CAN SPEAK, SING AND RAP IN ENGLISH even though it’s their second language.

Even though it opens up with Japanese-American DJ Steve Aoki, the song itself is owned by BigHit(HYBE) / BTS and it was written by BTS Leader “RM” (comes out of ambulance) which was said to be inspired by Obama speeches. After listening to the track and loved it so much that Steve collabed with BTS to make a remix version of their original song “Mic Drop” (which is in Korean) and got featured in their music video. He does get credit for the remix on top of being in the MV, there’s also another remix with Desiigner voice played in the background in the intro of the video. FUN FACTS: Almost everything used is REAL except maybe the floating mics and Fire after literally blowing up a car behind them #BTS #MicDrop #StopAsianHATE
Just to let you know they are not saying the western used “N” word it only sounds like it, the “Naega” word in their language means “I” or “you” in Korean. Everyone who doesn’t understand abit about the language & meanings especially when they hear the “Naega” word; which is very commonly used allot in the asian culture and music. It’s not the same as the “N” word, which allot of americans got too comfortable hearing or saying then assuming automatically when they hear it from a foreigner that’s what they mean, but in this case it has nothing to do with african americans at all. *In some foreign languages/cultures, many common western words will sound similar but have different meanings*

By the way if you wanna see how amazing they were at dancing even as rookies check out their official dance practice videos (they have many and have millions of views especially from dancers and choreographers) to an early song “Danger” . They were an absolute threat from the beginning and now ruling the world.
