Just subbed to your other channel to see your take on the lyrical side of TOOL. The music is definitely life changing, but Maynard's lyrics are soul changing.
Music is deeper than words imo, but I guess that's a deep philosophical discussion...and I say this as not only a poetry/literature fanatic but also a fan of Maynard's lyrics.
If you haven't noticed, you'll be bludgeoned by Maynard worshippers who think he's the best part of Tool: "The music is good but the LYRICS" yeah I love his lyrics and singing too...but it's all 4 components that make the magic!
I just commented in the last video how it was one of my favorites, but the truth is that my favorite Tool song is the one I’m listening to at that moment.
Dayumm Drama is in BANGER MODE today! Killing it with these vids. I have always loved how eerily similar Intermission is to the beginning of Jimmy. Combine that with the lyrical content of the song (Maynard was 11 when his mother became paralyzed and he had to grow up and say goodbye to “Jimmy”), the transition is so perfect.
I’ve always felt like the mix always places you, the listener, at the position of the drummer. As though the listener in sitting behind the drums. As a drummer, that’s why I really enjoy listening to Tool.
I really enjoy when you comment on the production aspects. That part of recorded music was a discovery I made when I was introduced to Prince, shortly after the 1999 album was released. My ear for production was further enhanced when I bought, Pink Floyd: The Wall. GREAT STUFF!!!! 🤘🏼🔥🤘🏼🔥 Love your analysis on all of this amazing music!! I'll be interested to see your Reactions to the "canon" songs that touch on his mother's tragedy and how it effected his life.
There is a line in this song that cuts through me. My dad had to move us from Texas to Ohio when I was in junior high. It was only a nine month project but that was when I first experienced depression. It was fucking miserable. Under a dead Ohio sky. Exactly how I felt.
Love the voice. You should be on the radio. Love watching new folks go down the Tool rabbit hole. Been a fan of theirs for 30 years. Keep it up. Much love!
Hell yes! Great reaction, sir. I have to grab my headphones to try to pick out the drum placement you mentioned. I am excited to see the lyric breakdowns start on your other channel.
Somehow I always forget how incredible this song is until I hear it. Love the reaction as always. Your approach to the music/mixing and mastering is always so interesting but I am very excited to follow along on your lyrical journey as well!
You should really check out the movie "blood into wine". It's a documentary on part of Maynard's life. I've always appreciated his point of view musically but this gives a whole new perspective on the man. Everyone in the world could learn something from this man!
Awesome reaction as always! I heard you mention a live push it viewing or whatever. would you be talking about the song on a live album called Salival ? If so i hope that you listen to the album version of Push It from Aenema first because it is so much different and special in it's own way. The live version is where they approach the song in a new light and it kinda transforms the album version. Just better to hear the song in that order but whatever you wanna do is fine lol. Just wanted to let ya know
Thank you so much for you heart felt thanks. Great reaction, loving the journey and insight into what i know very little about. When it comes to the engineering and production that goes into my favourite bands music. Thanks again for a different perspective seeing their music in a different light is great. Must check out you other channel.
I really enjoy your reactions and I’m looking forward to your lyrical analysis of TOOL because there is SO MUCH to be found there to chew on! Cheers brother!👍👍🤘🤘🥃
More Alice In Chains: Sludge Factory (NOT the live one) album version, Bleed the Freak, God Am, Dam that River, Love Hate Love, Looking in View, Phantom Limb, Head Creeps, Rotten Apple, We Die Young, Ain’t Like that etc
@@sabjekill i think what they might have been saying is that it was a more lighthearted beginning to the main melody of Jimmy. But somehow really set the tone of the song.
If you thought the musicality was interesting, wait till you get into the lyrics! It's gets deep! You will be on another journey for sure. Fasten your seat belt............
jimmy is BY FAR one of Tool’s most under appreciated songs.
Agreed!
I agree ..and culling voices as well
It’s always been my favorite.
I appreciate it plenty.
I agree, I've heard it a thousand times and still gives me the chills.
Gonna be happy to follow your Tool lyric journey. ✨
This song hits so deep. Self reflection and healing later in life for his younger self. So sad. Yet inspiring.
So so sad. It's hard to not tear up during this one for me
A reactor who listens!!!! Thank you for doing these two together as is meant.
If there ever was an underrated song in the Tool catalog it would be Jimmy. It’s arguably one of my favorite songs of all time.

The lyrics and an understanding of them, makes this song amazing to listen to.. the tension at the end is sooo good.

Wow, two in a row for Tool. It's like the old days. I feel like I'm getting out of the city and I'm on the ramp to the highway! ✌️
Man, you're gonna have a field day when you get to the Lateralus album. I can't wait.

Still one of my favorite reactors bro.Well worth the wait!Ride that spiral !🌀👽
Great intro isn't it?! Blue Oyster Cult would do that as well on their early albums. Thanks for some Tool

It's cool to hear a perspective from someone who understands music production
Thank you good sir!!
you should listen to push it album track first. the live is a reimagining of the song
The lyrics are beautiful, happy journeys bro spiral out

Sylvia Massy did a great job recording that album.

I am so excited to join in on your journey with the lyric breakdowns!!! Subbed to Bypoeleur Entertainment.

Not sure if you knew but Jimmy was actually Maynards name growing up, after he got out of the military he took on the name Maynard.
Can’t wait for the lyrical reactions as well. Just subbed to the second channel

Your reactions are as solid as they get. Your musically intelligent & see great music for what it is. I respect that. Keep it up brother.
I adore this track, This and Pushit (original) are the most underrated tracks
Love your insightful reactions to Tool!
You are a genius dissecting the production

Here for the TOOl, this song is strong and sad at the same time, He became a man at 11 due to mothers illness........🤙🤘
I want more crickets!!!! LOL
Man you are gonna love the Salival version of Pushit. Can't wait.
Liked that better than the earlier song for sure 😃🔥
I really enjoy your reactions and I’m looking forward to your lyrical analysis of TOOL because there is SO MUCH to be found there to chew on! Cheers brother!👍👍🤘🤘🥃

the interlude is organ cover of the jimmy
No it's not, it was done completely by the organist, not a cover.
@@sabjekill i think what they might have been saying is that it was a more lighthearted beginning to the main melody of Jimmy. But somehow really set the tone of the song.
Do Pushit (studio and live) in one vid.
Can't wait for your next Steely Dan Vid. Lot's of great ground to cover before hitting Aja, their pinnacle album!
Hell of a thing, Interlude...
If you watch “ Judith “ by perfect circle, than this song may make sense
Third Eye coming soon.
HWAP definitely had a different purpose to it. It was solely to make a point to certain people.
You're the best! 👍
So nice!
Best segue ever
If you thought the musicality was interesting, wait till you get into the lyrics! It's gets deep! You will be on another journey for sure. Fasten your seat belt............
