One entry I wish was on here was the fake story behind the All Nightmare Long Music Video. The fake story goes that Kirk got a random DVD from a fan in Russia, I believe, and that the mysterious footage became the music video for the song All Nightmare Long. In reality, it was planned from the get-go and animated by a visual effects artist who worked on a few horror movies such as Ring 2.
In relation to 27:08, a British thrash metal band called Evile released a song as a tribute to a previous bass player they had because had passed away called In Memoriam, and a good amount of people thought that song was a Metallica song before finding out that wasn’t the case. You could find it as this or searching Metallica darkness, though now you’d see it right under the music video for If Darkness Had a Son
this was one good video. Revisiting all the stuff I uncovered about this band throughout my year of being a fan of theirs (yes I know I'm a late bloomer, also yes I know I learn obscure things very fast) although I was partially anticipating the Klars bit on the iceberg even though it never came up... as a Tumblr and Pinterest regular I see Klars every other day lmaoooo

That interview had more beekeeping then Metallica, which is more healthy then talking the same subjects over and over about the band that already is known. That's why Nardwuar its so great, he avoids generic questions.
really good, well researched video. a little disappointed about the lack of things you had to say about cliff. he was more than the accident that killed him, so much more.
19:50 This is very cuestionable. There are several details on interviews that sugest that Kirk was "unavaible" during the writing process of HTSD. Lars explained that they have a vault of riffs, they collect all ideas, as a professional band should do and James was very sarcastic when asked about the subject. The same thing occured dured 72 seasons, where most of the record is composed by James.
13:13 Allegedly, its in reference to the various demo recordings throughout their history where instead of singing actual lyrics, James would sing "wannananana" so he could figure out where he should and shouldn't sing. Lars thinks a lot about James' vocals, as stated in an interview talking about the process of Metallica covering music. I wouldn't doubt it if that same logic applies to when he posts something on insta with the # wanna. It shows how much Lars respects James as a longtime friend and creative partner. P.S. Dope vid BTW
I think the plot of through the never was to get the bag of Cliff, because in the truck, the only thing that was in there was a leather bag, like one from Cliff back in the 80's, that's one of the reasons the movie ends with Orion because he got the sheets of the song or something like that, is a funny movie, not that deep but funny
13:07 my theory is because in songs for deluxe Metallica albums there’s like 2 or 3 songs usually labeled “from James riff tapes”. We’ll use shortest straw for example so it will be the drums bass and guitar of the song but for the vocals James will go wanawnananwan kind of imitating the guitar and then when it goes to the part of the song where he says shortest straw has been pulled for you he’ll say it then he’ll go back to the wannawan but that doesn’t explain why lars hashtags it in his posts so this is just a theory
I don't know if it's confirmed that Lars removed the snare from the drum, but I'm absolutely sure that it's clearly possible to hear it, even in the short piece at 9:28. It doesn't sound like than it's completely removed, it sounds more like the snare is put a bit further from the drum (might sound weird but the drummers should get what I'm saying). And the video following the clip is obviously a joke. And that's the thing why people don't like the snare drum in St.Anger. They don't even know what is going on and say things about it that (according to my hearing) are wrong. People don't even want to think about how the sound works and how it affects the songs. Even if you don't like the sound of the snare you have to admit that it's the perfect sound for that album. St.Anger songs with a ,,normal" snare sound shit af (yes, shittier than with the St.Anger snare). That said, I like St.Anger. It's a top 4 Metallica album for me. It sounds cool (different for sure, but not that bad), has nice songs, some very good riffs, a bass that you can actually hear (better than in every of the first 5 albums) and some great drum grooves. And I really don't care about the solos, Kirk Hammets solos are overrated as fuck and some bands like Gojira as an example don't need classic solos as well, and Gojira are great.
Zero evidence, BUT here's a legend that circulated BBS forums in 03-04: Supposedly, a music video was shot for For Whom The Bell Tolls back in 84 and intended to be shown on MTV as the lead single for Ride The Lightning. The band submitted the only existing copy of the video to MTV, but denied them the airing of the band's video on the grounds of limited commercial appeal. When the band asked for the copy of the video to be returned, MTV did not respond to this request. In turn, the band vowed to never make a music video nor to release a single for their future albums, which is why radio airplay for Master Of Puppets was little to none at all.
“Selling out” is honestly the dumbest thing ever. As soon as a band gets any recognition they’re accused of being sellouts. How dare a band be successful.
I think St. Anger ist a good Album, except for the Sound. The Sound on Justice is bad too. But if they play the Songs live today, St. Anger sounds very good.
Great video, but just as a bit of constructive criticism, the video felt a little bit too fast. I feel like it would benefit from taking its time and explaining the enteries more

We’ll use shortest straw for example so it will be the drums bass and guitar of the song but for the vocals James will go wanawnananwan kind of imitating the guitar and then when it goes to the part of the song where he says shortest straw has been pulled for you he’ll say it then he’ll go back to the wannawan but that doesn’t explain why lars hashtags it in his posts so this is just a theory
must've been cause i was 13-14 at the time .. but i loved St Anger and i still love it now that im 31.. xD
Where’s ride the lightning???
You can tell that wasn't Cliff: No Misfits tattoo
Thank you for telling me about tallica parking lot !! Amazing!
22:10 let's not forget Piss and Blood with the Reload album.
Zero evidence, BUT here's a legend that circulated BBS forums in 03-04:
Supposedly, a music video was shot for For Whom The Bell Tolls back in 84 and intended to be shown on MTV as the lead single for Ride The Lightning.
James on the drums is hilarious
One word... excellent!!!
“Selling out” is honestly the dumbest thing ever. As soon as a band gets any recognition they’re accused of being sellouts. How dare a band be successful.
2:02 does anyone remember title of this song because i forgot
It’s Orion
I think St. Anger ist a good Album, except for the Sound. The Sound on Justice is bad too. But if they play the Songs live today, St. Anger sounds very good.
My home city is in the Chicago metropolitan area!
Great video, but just as a bit of constructive criticism, the video felt a little bit too fast. I feel like it would benefit from taking its time and explaining the enteries more
What is the name of the song at 2:07????? I’m trying so hard to find it I just can’t
It's called The Thing That Should Not Be
I liked your fnaf video. Please do another one and here are some idea's for it,
Maybe do a video of explaining lefty's lore,

I know Cliff Burton death was depressing but not that fucking depressing.
We’re talking about a young man losing his life. No matter how you try and spin it it’s pretty depressing.
@@doug176exactly he was only like 24, nobody deserves to die like he did
This video was so fucking good
I had one of the Green cover RTL still in shrink wrap. It was stolen during a move. Wonder what it is worth today.
26:15 The picture isn't real, in the original one James stands next to Lars and someone photoshopped Till in there😂

I really liked this video, but you were talking like you never wanted to go into detail on anything. I want like an extra hour and a half of you talking about these things lmao
I saw some kind of monster - before i was a fan. I had heard some of their songs.
