usually i hate random banter but i found this game weirdly charming and funny tbh
I think it's because the commentary is kind of the main focus of the game. It's like how Backpack Hero made inventory management fun.

This game really got the 'first game of the night' treatment. A real shame, it's got a lot going for it.
Did it? "first game of the night" is often "second game shafted". An hour and a half is enough to get a good idea for this game, and Vinny specifically said he wanted to play a lot of UFO 50 on this stream.
@Zanpaa that's precisely what I'm talking about, man. He didn't want to play this, he wanted to get to the other game. Fair enough, his stream his style.

Oh man, this is one of those flash games that I played when I was a little kid and completely forgot about for YEARS. Seeing this pop up in my sub feed was a welcome surprise.
35:54 the dynamite exploding the whole tower was the best death he had along with the giant hammer guy pulping him so many times.
Honestly once you get past the voice, this game seems pretty fun for a bit.

and then there's so much to explore that when you die, it doesn't really feel like you lost progress

Tomar Time had a different meaning for me growing up, when Tomar quarantined my city block. Every morning Tomar would levitate above us and call out someone's name, then they and their house would disappear and a Tomar Store would appear in their place.

Entitled backseaters that don't understand the world doesn't revolve around them. If Vinny enjoys something, that's all that matters to me. If Vinny is playing something I don't really find interesting enough, I'll watch something else and tune back in next time. Idk why some folks in chat can't respect that... Like its really not that deep.

this game's visual style reminded me of a lot of games but I wasn't expecting it to be by the same dev who made the 400 day waiting game.

I never played or even heard of this game before (probably cause I never really used Newgrounds much), but after watching the VOD I actually think it looks pretty neat, I have nothing against it at all, dunno why the rest of chat seemed to have been so hostile to it

This game was pretty neat, just like vinny, you kinda get used to the annoying voices.
It's even better once you get past the voices in your head, those are the ones to really look out for. Mine says SPEEN a lot..

the joss whedon/mcu school of observational comedy was so damaging to the world of scriptwriting that it retroactively tainted newgrounds flash game banter
back when this kind of thing was considered twee and charming as opposed to now where its a clear indication of the boardroom writing the script.
I think it's just a matter of intentionally vs unintentionally writing a buffoon protagonist
The difference is that in something like this it's intentional and thus endearing. In Marvel media, it's used as filler due to laziness. You also have to factor in things like delivery and context. That's just my take though. I might be right, I might be wrong.

They were like that with Breathedge, even worse was when Jerma played Two Point Hospital who did end up switching to something else. I really wish chatlets didn't think the world revolves around themselves, I get that it's for the viewers and all, but too many folk have such an ego about it.

Is there something vinny didn't play at this point? The lore goes so deep i can't follow it.
I enjoy the vibe of this game since I grew up in the early 00s and I love the random NPCs you meet.
But I specifically really dislike the main character voice. Also the evil wizard that pops up, I feel like he needs to have more of a much higher pitched Invader Zim kind of voice to make those obnoxious voice lines work.
I don't know what I'd change about the main character's voice, maybe he should sound like Kronk, he needs that dumb charm, which I don't currently get from him as is.
