Thanks for your video. I got one today and everything you said was true and helpful. It is a bit hard to thread the drive belts, especially since I couldn't find my tweezers. I had a satisfying test engraving in only about two hours since opening the box.
Tweezers would help for the belt. Instead of starting at one end I started by going over the gear and then threading the belt though from the centre to the outward edges. That way I didn’t have any weird angles that I had to feed the belt through. Crappy explanation I know.
Hi William. You say that the S9 has issues cutting lighter coloured acrylic. This leads me to believe that it has no chance in cutting 4-5mm clear acrylic. Is that the case? Sculpfun have just released the S10, so I'm hoping that will have the capability. I just have to wait a few months until reviews start to surface. I don't have the space or funds for a c02. Thanks, G
Thank you for this clear and informative video. I have been researching extensively, trying to find the best inexpensive laser for engraving very thin lines on cow bone. The same as scrimshaw. I have been having difficulty getting specific information on this. Please tell me, do you think this S9 can engrave clean lines in bone that are about .07mm wide and .07mm deep? Or can you recommend an alternative inexpensive system to achieve it? Thank you for any advice you can give.
Very helpful video; thank you! Have you tried cutting leather? I make jewelry, and cutting leather to paint for earrings etc is very tedious. I bought a cricut maker specifically for this reason, and it just chews up leather.
I am brandnew. I am becoming frustrated. I am finding it hard to know where to set the material so the laser goes right to the wood and engraves on the wood.
how you fix bumps that we get every 10 cm on vertical path (from/to controller box) ? every time i want to cut something bigger these bumps screw path so it is impossible to cut
Hi! Great review, thanks for sharing. I'm considering buying a Sculpfun S9, but I'm concerned about its long-term durability. Since your video was made a while ago, could you please share your experience regarding its performance over time? Has it held up well, and have you encountered any significant issues? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Many thanks for the in depth review. I can't decide between this machine or the Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro. Do you have any experience with the Ortur brand?
@@batmandiablo3 I have been watching some reviews and talking with some friends (one has a twoo trees and the other an atomstack 5 pro+) and it seems that the cheapest one and with same power is this s9. I am waiting know for mine to arrive. Also bought the extension kit to engrave 42cmX95cm large.
@@mikefreitas1331 To be honest, the stop switches are selling the Ortur to me right now. Not found another machine in my price bracket that has them. Appreciate your reply, thank you.

I wish I could afford one of these. I'd love to give engraving a go.

Hi, can I engrave tumblers with this engraver?

I believe that the diode lasers output a wavelength that passes through clear acrylic, so only co2 lasers can cut clear acrylics.
hi, may i know can it cut materials like htv PU rubber?
I would like to know where can I find a replacement for the pulley-coupling piece or how it is actually called?

Does the laser ever need replacement ? Is there a max life of the laser ? I am thinking of long term costs.
yes there is how long i dont know and have to clean from time to time.
How long roughly does it take to do a basic design on a slate coaster?
just for engrave logos on wood.... do you recomend? thanks
Does it cut 1mm clear acrylic?
Greate vid. Looking in to this hobby
Hi! Could you tell me the settings you use to cut an acrylic sheet in light burn

Thanks for the video. What kind of 'Font' did you use in 7:05?
What program do you use?
can this cut through plexiglass?
Can this cut foam?
Help me please can you cut white and mirrored acrylics
No - You need a CO2 laser for that, not diode.
How do you vent yours? Can I just use it outside or will the wind effect it
Fume cupboard or in the garage with the door open. A little wind won't hurt it, as long as your material is secured.

Haven't used any of theirs I'm afraid. We'll have a TwoTrees TS3 for review soon though, might be worth considering.
@@MakeUseOf Not heard of that brand. Review soon?

What kind of a laptop does this machine needs to run it
The program to do the design is pretty lightweight, I've seen 10 year old laptops do it, not sure about Mac.
Does the laser machine cut paper materials?
That will cause a fire I think. Try to look for a plotter. Like silhouette cameo or brother or another brand. If it's for hobby purposes
cant cut in clean and blue acryl pladets
love the ouija bord mate
Nice and conside rto buy it

how abt your electric bill?
These typically don't run more than around 50W, so the impact is minimal.
