    I can't believe Jamie said that . . . totally caught me off guard😆
    As for the case of, "which hole do you want me to use"? This is the sign of a real man who is genuinely thoughtful. It's best to check with the owner before you attempt insertion. However, when offered with the option Jamie raises, it's best to take your time and leave no hole unfulfilled!😉

    Your messages on the wall brought back an incident in my home!
    My house is over 100 years old ...... Brick built with wet plaster walls.
    When we stripped the wallpaper off the hall it showed the distemper painted on the original plaster. Times were hard then so they used newspaper as lining paper. The newsprint had transferred onto the distemper so although the wall was now bare plaster it was filled with print. One of the headlines was Charlie Chaplain coming to Manchester UK!

    That's a great idea! Now I need a red garbage disposal switch. That would keep me from turning it on thinking it's the light switch.

  • @rickmorrill9907
    @rickmorrill9907 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It seems like a great idea to have the disposal switch in the kitchen be a different color, and red makes it even better. Particularly because there will be two other switches next to it. Prudent, not paranoid.

    My wife and I started watching ya'll for canning tips. We now do pretty good at canning. Next thing was getting egg chickens and search again went to ya'll. Our coop is almost done and we will have baby chicks mid July. :-)
    We already had a pig (Ali) but he's now a member of our family.

      I agree, but there's no such thing as still photos anymore. Everyone takes a ''pic'' with their phone and then it's lost when the phone dies. I miss the 35mm days when one would take pictures, have them developed and then put them in an album for all to see.

    I would not shove a metal tool into the wire channel lest you might nick it. I have always used a paint stir stick as a pushing tool in this case. I have also used RC cars to pull strings attached to wires to get thru tight spaces. Another trick is to pull wire thru a pvc chase, attach a ping pong ball to a rope and the rope to the wire. Attach a shop vac to the end of the pipe and suck the ping pong ball thru the tube and the string attached to the cord goes along, and it goes mighty fast.

    are you planning on doing some data cable runs? Some Cat6a to the general location of your future wireless access points ( you probably need 2 in a house like that, one for the basement area and one for the upstairs), plus 2 to you office area, and a couple to where you tv or tvs will be would be all you really need. Of course I am an IT fanatic and would wire cat 6a to every room with multiple jacks. Plus if you plan on security cameras, it makes deploying PoE cameras inside and outside your home easier.

    Hi guys! Lookin' great in there, and we're SO excited for you to move in soon! Jeremy, I'm just curious... why did you opt to use a chainsaw instead of a circular saw? Was it because of the blade/cut size, with a circular being only about 1/8" and a chainsaw being about 1/2"? You've put ICF on our radar. :)

    • @Guildbrookfarm
      @Guildbrookfarm  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes the kerf (width) of the chainsaw blade is perfect to tuck wire into and more control over the beginning and end of the cut. No weird rounded part at the start and stop point.

    What sort of disposal are you planning to use? I thought it wasn't wise to use a disposal with a septic system. I saw a model years ago that used an injected enzyme to break down the scraps faster in the septic tank, but never heard much about it afterwards.

    • @augustreil
      @augustreil 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Disposals are not wise to use with any type of waste pipes. The debris will always leave some buildup and could cause a clog. They should only be used for the occasional scraps that get missed and end up going down the drain, JMO.

    I am not an electrician and do not know all the wiring regulations.
    But it is not accepted practice in the UK to run cables in walls other than either horizontally or vertically from an outlet or switch.
    This gives a fighting chance of preventing a future home owner or electrical contractor or an idiot drilling, screwing or nailing into the wall and hitting a live wire. Depth of chase and/or mechanical protection (metal capping) might mitigate the risks to some extent.

      We love the quotes and me and my 10’year old stopped and rewound so we could read them all. Our favorite is the emergency room one because every time him and his 6 year old brother do something dangerous I’m constantly yelling, “we aint goin to the UCC” (Urgent Care Center )!! Lol.
