It’s beautiful. The way Conor writes lyrics is so fucking soul rendingly relatable and deep. I don’t care how lame that sounds. Bright eyes is amazing.
i love seeing conor's growth. it is a total projection of so many of us that started listneing when we were sad all the the time. His music has kept me sane, i grew up with it.. and I still am growing from it. light & love to you all.
Every new day is a gift, it's a song of redemption Any expression of love is the way to return To that place that I think of so often, but now never mention The one the voice in the back of my head says that I don't deserve Come fire, come water, come karma We're all in transition The wheel I'm becoming erases the physical mind Until all that remains is a staircase of misinformation And the code we inherit, the basis, the essence of life So I go, umbrella under my arm Into the green of the radar How'd it get so dark in the day? It's just so bizarre Is it true what we're made of? Why do I hide from the rain? Inside's so cloudy, nostalgia But there are no features Look at ourselves through a porthole The passage of time See that sunny day that we snuck out, hid under the bleachers Kissed as the band marched Everything fell into line So I go, umbrella under my arm Into the green of the radar How'd I get so lost? I'm amazed It's just so bizarre All the things I'm afraid of Why do I hide from the rain? Sure I have my doubts But I know it now We are Jejune stars So it starts again At our childhood's end I'll die young at heart So I go, umbrella under my arm Into the green of the radar How'd it get so dark in the day? It's just so bizarre If it's true what we're made of Why do I hide from the rain?
This album is unbelievably in sync with my current worldview. The wisdom and elegance conveyed through every line just floors me. When I'm in the right state of mind I can feel the energy of the sound, I can see the line of separation between external and internal as imaginary, and I and I just am. It's true what we're made of.
Beautiful. Such lyrical beauty, I can hear these as though I have imagined them myself. The music is magic, just right. One of my favorite pieces of music ever.
1:04 _Conor was born during an eclipse_ _he probably has cancer the Crab rising. In another song he talks about "getting out of the eighth house" (which is the place pertaining to not death itself, but that which brings about ones demise -- a constant theme for him, huh?) So that's his Aquarius house (8th), where the eclipse is. This then puts Venus, the planet of music in the all powerful 10th (topic of career) .... which is exactly the thing that makes musicians who are praised and worshipped! What was the name of his first band? Commander Venus! His Venus is in Aries, a sign ruled by Mars, the war planet.... Commander Venus indeed!_ _just thought you'd like to know, this was just a brief note!_
I love this song and video. Also, I met him while he was waering that shirt so it fills me with even more joy! And his dance moves are so awkwardly awesome (: haha
I love being among the first 1000 to see this on youtube, haha. I tried watching this the other day when it came on on mtvU, but it didn't work... Amazing video, though. Even if it's not super deep, it's still fun, just like the song.
We get it, Conor is attractive. I dislike seeing so many comments fan-girling over his looks. I mean thats just an added bonus I guess... Anyway. I love this song and video. The people's key is such an amazing record. Conor is playing Philly in Novemeber & I haveeeee to go! Need to see him live, it's on my bucket list.
Been binge-listening to Bright Eyes these days and this song turned out to be the one I've been listening to on repeat.
It's an awesome song
Totally Get It.
It’s beautiful. The way Conor writes lyrics is so fucking soul rendingly relatable and deep. I don’t care how lame that sounds. Bright eyes is amazing.
what you said. and i’m grateful.
@@StoneyMaloney1 Most Emotional music EVER. 💯

light & love to you all.
saying hi to you from 11 years ago hope ur well :)
How'd I get so lost, I'm amazed.
7 years later and this song still goes so hard, so many songs don't even have half the energy this does
The People’s Key is in my top 3 Bright Eyes albums. It’s so good.
Bright Eyes never gets old. Almost 10 years and this song is fkn fresh!!
Reminds me of high school, this song NEVER gets old!
Every new day is a gift, it's a song of redemption
Any expression of love is the way to return
To that place that I think of so often, but now never mention
The one the voice in the back of my head says that I don't deserve
Come fire, come water, come karma
We're all in transition
The wheel I'm becoming erases the physical mind
Until all that remains is a staircase of misinformation
And the code we inherit, the basis, the essence of life
So I go, umbrella under my arm
Into the green of the radar
How'd it get so dark in the day?
It's just so bizarre
Is it true what we're made of?
Why do I hide from the rain?
Inside's so cloudy, nostalgia
But there are no features
Look at ourselves through a porthole
The passage of time
See that sunny day that we snuck out, hid under the bleachers
Kissed as the band marched
Everything fell into line
So I go, umbrella under my arm
Into the green of the radar
How'd I get so lost? I'm amazed
It's just so bizarre
All the things I'm afraid of
Why do I hide from the rain?
Sure I have my doubts
But I know it now
We are Jejune stars
So it starts again
At our childhood's end
I'll die young at heart
So I go, umbrella under my arm
Into the green of the radar
How'd it get so dark in the day?
It's just so bizarre
If it's true what we're made of
Why do I hide from the rain?
My favorite lyricist.

Amazing song. Incredible lyrics. We are jejune stars.
Beautiful. Such lyrical beauty, I can hear these as though I have imagined them myself. The music is magic, just right. One of my favorite pieces of music ever.
Feel like this music vid would rock a lot more if it wasn't in 240p. Even for 2011, this shoulda been at least 480p.
These are my favorite lyrics of all time. Hats off to you guys 🤜🤛👏🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
he is a philosopher. poet. psychological mystery. my hero. insane. lovely. harmless. harmful

@JLCrazy25 Yeah it was great!!! Conor was he nicest chap. Good talk with him, great experience.
Connor Oberst looks like the twin brothers that Chris Lilley plays in "We Can Be Heroes" and "Angry Boys!" hah
Cleverbot said his or hers favorite band was Bright Eyes. Brought me here and im not dissapointed!
it makes sense now
Are Bright Eyes gonna make any more albums, or was People's Key the last?

@Soraplushie
Thanks for telling me about your anatomy as if it carried any significance... any reason why?
can we just take a moment to appreciate that this exists
Killa... Moves
Probably as close as any song writer has ever gotten to expressing the Truth.
awesome song
Reminds me of 3rd grade (came out when I was in third grade) I was definitely raised into a emo/ edgy lord
at around 0:20 he's just about humping his guitar. I would not mind if that were me... Holler
13 days!!!!!!!!!!! GAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
@JoieBe agreed, his cassadaga look was definitley his best.
What is on the back of his head going down his back and where can I get one?
Doesn't pomegranate roughly translate to "grenade apple".... ?
I heard this on Fortnite radio and was so happy thet added this. This song is a gem
WHAT
Are you serious? Bright Eyes songs are playing in video games nowadays?
*slam dunks a pumpkin*
