I love when he rolls into the throttle at 4:10 and the nose starts lifting up. I miss those days of real raw power when you actually had to drive a car and if you weren't careful, you wrecked it. The car makes some awesome sounds.
That is one of the nicest cars (classic) I've seen....somebody has spent a lot of time and damn sure a lot of money. ..detail like that doesn't come easy....many late nights ...lots of sweat. ..yenko or not ..its a nova...a damn nice ass car period. ...one I would be proud to own
Back in 70,we had a 402 Nova .030 over 408,Manley 12.5-1 pistons Crower 580,580 320 duration cam, lots of machine work, suspension work etc etc.Topped with a Weiand 2-4V tunnel ram,Holley 660 carbs 11 in slicks w/Moroso front drag tires--car ran 10.80s..Your car sounded just like ours with closed headers I miss the car,had lots of fun Thanks for sharing that
An old engine builder trick is to cut a groove in the top inside of the lifter bore, top to bottom, so that oil drips down on the camshaft and prevents flat spotting your cam lobes. You lose a little oil pressure but your camshaft lives.
This is my favorite video I've done to date. I got to bang gears in it! I'm usually the one doing the filming. You'll know the scene I'm talkin' about! I was trying to keep it from breaking the tires loose. That 427 was wicked in this custom Nova. - Samspace81 #nova #beastmode
***** I was caught fibbing!! No, its a Yenko type Tribute car, just a killer killer Nova. That's my buddy Brents business, Fast440 here close to Sunnyvale, Texas.
Don Yenko converted a whole bunch of cars, not just Camaros. He had Yenko Chevelles, Yenko Novas, Yenko Camaros, even Yenko Corvairs. Pretty neat stuff. May not be factory original (Correct me if I am wrong) but still sweet as hell to have such a high horsepower motor in a tiny car.
I like it too. As for a genuine Yenko Nova 427 there are only 7 to 9 in existence. A garnet red one with a black vinyl top completely original sold for $300,000.
I think the clone/tribute idea is the better option...it looks & runs like the rare original, but you can beat on it & not feel like you're devaluing/mileing up/abusing the investment/rarity of owning the real thing!
God that thing sounds monstrous! Yenko's are just badass. I love that whine sound too. Beautiful paint job, and I love the video transitions you did as well!
Lived in Forney Texas for 4 years and drove by your place nearly every day and would always see some SWEET lookin Hot Rods sittin around the front shop. Cool vid man!
Yenko built a total of 38 427/450 horse 69 & 70 Nova's. It's said that only 10 survive. They where all based on 396 cars as the heavy duty suspension was already installed. My guess is that in that a short wheelbase car with 450 HP tends to go off the road in a BIG way.... Approximate value? I saw one at Barrett Jackson with a pre-auction estimate of 350 to 400K. I don't know if it sold.
Yenko didn't build any big block Novas for 1970 , they were all LT1 powered Yenko Deuces . Short wheelbase , at 111 inches it's three more than a Camaro .
I'm curious. What did you Folks have to do to prepare those Nova Frames/Suspensions to handle the HP of the 427s? A Buddy of mine put a strong 327 small block in one of these Cars and the first time he really nailed it from a standing start, the Car literally twisted the real Leaf Spring into a Pretzel and did a real number on what was left of the rear bodywork. Maybe I can answer my own Question here and say 400 hp was too much for a single leaf rear suspension especially w/o Frame Connectors.
I thought I saw that nova on eBay awhile back. It was actually on eBay as a yenko. Very nice ride I thought about selling almost everything I had at the time for it. But then came to my senses.
No matter what cubic inches are under a chevy hood. The Muncie whine will always draw the attention. Lol. Nice ride. Love the color. Mine is the burnt poly ( or doo doo brown ) gm fleet color from 69.
Right up there. My buddy back in the day, had about the same set up. His had an L-88 in it, M-22 and 5:13 gears. Cortez Silver with black interior. No console either. The torque was unbelievable. I would take this Nova over any car i've seen on you tube.
You'd need a 4 door nova with poverty caps, bench seat, column shift. With a 1970s compass on the dash. My great grandma had a green on green nova like that (with a 307 or some little lo-po v8). Except hers was a coupe. Right now it's rotting behind my uncle's house.
Yea, those 427 nova's built by Yenko are the most rare of his supercars , and for good reason. The nasty big rat was really too much for a stock body nova and actually quite dangerous according to don yenko himself. It was something like 0-60 in a tick over 3 seconds with all kinds of body and suspension twisting going on. Hairy ride.
Nice car . Yenkos had the stinger hood , YSC head rests and door panel call outs and stripe kit . Decals on the valve covers doesn't make it a Yenko tribute or clone . 427 sounds healthy.
Beautiful Nova man. Absolutely. I have a 73 hatch back but I don't have the cash right now to do what I want to it, so just waiting. Seeing your car makes me know keeping mine is worth the wait.
love the 427 Nova,.. just wish you had the correct badging on the fenders,.. when i was 16 i seen a new ZL1 1969 Nova in a Chevrolet showroom all alum 427 it was a 3000.00 dollar car with a 3000 dollar eng option,... i believe the total was around 6300,.... sweet car you have
I would replace that Vic Jr. with a performer RPM air gap. A lot more lower rpm torque with little to no high HP loss. Cool video though kept me waiting for a smoke show lol.
I know the L88 was 427/430hp and was very under rated. also gm had restrictions to order a L88 like no radio , no heater core , heavy duty susp. the L71 was 427/435hp. But I am no expert on Yenko , I am just a huge fan. In my opinion they had the best muscle cars of the late 60's hands down. Yenko was into making crazy fast cars , they could have swapped intakes and carbs. Again your lucky to own your nova, it will eat corvettes all day from the same generation.
Love the car don't get me wrong but a lot of little things are wrong 1 the marker lights would be clear not orange 2 The Yenko always had a tachometer either in a console or dash but either way it looks and sounds great
Greatt car, brother. Not as loud as she should be, though. You need to get a glass pak, but make it so the car is real quite on the inside and loud on the outside. Then, throw some dumpers in her, so when you want, you could open 'em up, and the cabin will be filled with the sound of a big ol' monsterous V8.
nice Nova, the paint and engine compartment are very clean. is that a Pete Jackson gear drive i hear, never been a big fan of the noisy gear drives but she still sounds very solid. Nice car
That ain't no Grandma's Nova! Still would love to find one of those to stick one of my big blocks into it! Those cowl hood look great on those cars. Hey! I think I said that before....Dejaview?
my 1 st was a 69 4 door caprice factory numbers matching 427 390hp, sold it for $7k to a guy who wanted the engine for his corvette. my father has a 69 nova ss numbers matching 396/4 speed
You're right, there's no subframe connectors or strut braces. In the Yenko directory, there's more than 7. I counted 23. They did LT1's in 1970 as well. I turned down $550k for both. Two different appraisals by top name dealers put the nova's value at $350k+ The Camaro is worth $100k more. A popular Canadian company wet themselves when they saw them, but they just low balled me. I have a Mach 1 429 SCJ 4 speed & a '65 GT-350 as well, I invested in Iron Stocks.
engine braking like you should GOOD! let them horses sing everyone a song! i heard either the clutch or the tires squeak at 4:19 from that downshift haha shes a beauty! wish i owned one, id keep it in prestine condition just like it is now
reminds me of a 69 Deuce that a guy in my neighborhood had,Slate Grey,396-375.it wasn't fast enough so L-88 101/2 wrinklewalls,5,38's cammed it up and went street racing.won some good money.scary fast and the cops finally shut him down.that was in 1972.he ran the 1/4 on the national record.Ahhhhhh the good old days!
L71 was 3 deuces, L88 was 850 4bbl, Im not saying you don't have a L88, But I know chev never offered a L88 6 pack, Even tho some corvettes claim to have them stock, it is not true. You got a real gem in your Nova since there is only 7 of the 30 built left. Seen a article where they put slicks on a stock 69 yenko nova, and it ran high 10's in 1/4
That is weird. I got them unrestored in 1980 from the original owner. The air cleaners are triangular with 427/435HP decals on them. The original window stickers state L88 on both cars. They are solid lifter aluminum head 427's. Fortunately the original owner lives nearby. I want to know more about them. I have tons of documents from Yenko
I love when he rolls into the throttle at 4:10 and the nose starts lifting up. I miss those days of real raw power when you actually had to drive a car and if you weren't careful, you wrecked it. The car makes some awesome sounds.

Finally someone in a video that actually can shift a 4 speed while running it. Nice car love it. I had a 73 wish it ran like yours.
I grew up in the town where these were made. The building is still there. Nice to see these cars still around
Back in 70,we had a 402 Nova .030 over 408,Manley 12.5-1 pistons
Crower 580,580 320 duration cam,lots of machine work,suspension
work etc etc.Topped with a Weiand 2-4V tunnel ram,Holley 660 carbs
11 in slicks w/Moroso front drag tires--car ran 10.80s..Your car sounded just like ours with closed headers
I miss the car,had lots of fun
Thanks for sharing that
Damn. All that time and effort for 10.80s..? Nowadays that happens with less cubes, less cam and one carb. Sorry your engine sucked back then, dude
Jesus H Christ, that thing sounds good. And then you sold it. I would have wrapped it up in bubble plastic and kept it forever.
Wow he sold it. Hes crazy
An old engine builder trick is to cut a groove in the top inside of the lifter bore, top to bottom, so that oil drips down on the camshaft and prevents flat spotting your cam lobes. You lose a little oil pressure but your camshaft lives.
Outstanding Nova. Wish I could have bought it. That big block sounds awesome They can keep all the new muscle cars. Old school works for me.
same thing i said ol school is bad ass this new crap sucks lol
This is my favorite video I've done to date. I got to bang gears in it! I'm usually the one doing the filming. You'll know the scene I'm talkin' about! I was trying to keep it from breaking the tires loose. That 427 was wicked in this custom Nova. - Samspace81 #nova #beastmode
Nice looking nova very rare.
That's a mighty impressive garage ! If that Nova is a legit Yenko, it's one of only 37 produced, and one of a handful that exist today . . .
***** I was caught fibbing!! No, its a Yenko type Tribute car, just a killer killer Nova. That's my buddy Brents business, Fast440 here close to Sunnyvale, Texas.
David H. You're late to the party David! I'm sure everyone LOVES you at a party...
Was this car originally a 250 inline 6 or a 307?
Don Yenko converted a whole bunch of cars, not just Camaros. He had Yenko Chevelles, Yenko Novas, Yenko Camaros, even Yenko Corvairs. Pretty neat stuff. May not be factory original (Correct me if I am wrong) but still sweet as hell to have such a high horsepower motor in a tiny car.

Thats what I'm saying. Thanks for checking it out Andy.
I doubt any Novas came out of the factory with body and paint as good as this one. She's a beaut'!
So true memorable muscle
Who needs a radio when your car sounds like that!
That's the truth in any year
God that thing sounds monstrous!
One of the cleanest Novas I've seen. That hood looks great on that car.
Cool car i ran a small block 427 then it turned into a 437 now its gonna be a 440. Just keep making it bigger stronger and faster
The Hotrodder way. Thanks for following Samspace81
amazing car i love it . awesome paintjob too very shiny .

Awesome this one just a clone 👏
Very nice nova..looks good sounds and appears to run very strong..very nice piece of American muscle car history. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for checking it out James! Enjoy the channel.
Great car. But hardly hell raising. Glad you're taking care her though
My thoughts exactly ! Lol
I'm curious. What did you Folks have to do to prepare those Nova Frames/Suspensions to handle the HP of the 427s?

That is honestly probably the best lookin Nova I've ever seen.

2016 is a badass. I have had seven in my life and only have one left man I miss them.

Indeed

Really nice craftsmanship; cosmetics and mechanicals
I agree! Glad you enjoyed it Mark. Appreciate you following Samspace81 sir
Did you see the part where I went through the gears? It winds up pretty good! I never bounce a car off a rev limiter, bad for the valves.
Nice car . Yenkos had the stinger hood , YSC head rests and door panel call outs and stripe kit . Decals on the
valve covers doesn't make it a Yenko tribute or clone . 427 sounds healthy.
Beautiful Nova man. Absolutely. I have a 73 hatch back but I don't have the cash right now to do what I want to it, so just waiting. Seeing your car makes me know keeping mine is worth the wait.
sweet nothing better than the sound of big block chevrolet muscle
Comment of the day! One of my favorite days ever doing this video! So much fun. Thank you
@@samspace81 your welcome my dad has a big tire 68 with a 540 bb with a turbo
love nova's. awesome vid
Thank you! Have a good weekend wrenching on your ride - Sam
I didn't have it opened up all the way. It didn't ping or lean out, pulled hard. I didn't rev it too high either.
That's one badass Nova love that whining sound
It sure was Mark, that old school gear drive! Thanks so much for following Samspace81
love the 427 Nova,.. just wish you had the correct badging on the fenders,.. when i was 16 i seen a new ZL1 1969 Nova in a Chevrolet showroom all alum 427 it was a 3000.00 dollar car with a 3000 dollar eng option,... i believe the total was around 6300,.... sweet car you have
No such animal. Odds are pretty small you even saw one of the 69 zl1 camaros....
Never heard of the zl 1 being an option on a nova unless it was dealer installed maybe.
i did see it at Harry May Chevrolet in Monroe Mi. in 1969, it was not a yenko, it was a Dick Harrell, ZL1 Nova
Could be worth a fortune today.
thats for sure,
The horn and wipers really make the car. LOL, very nice!
Sounds healthy looks great but I must have missed the part where he actually put his foot into it.
I rolled into it, kept traction and didn't tear it up, someone elses car.
I would replace that Vic Jr. with a performer RPM air gap. A lot more lower rpm torque with little to no high HP loss. Cool video though kept me waiting for a smoke show lol.
Right on
love the old Nova my dream car
I had a 72 nova I gutted with a 396 I put in it ,it weighed 3.160 pounds ran great
Good stuff Darrell, appreciate you sharing
Great cars, I had a LT1 1970, 4 speed Munsey, SS loaded. Quick car in its day.
Got a 57 cameo pickup , with a
70 lt1 & m20 4 speed.,
Man, who in their right mind would sell that? I just can't see it.
steve mills Maybe the tax man calleth? Yep this one was a special car. I remember it well. - Sam
samspace81 Ugh, not good. Man, the things a guy has to do, unwillingly, for our government.
thanks for sharing and the ride. loved it. nice bad ride. keep old school alive!

You just got to love those cars that are so juiced up they don't like to idle at all lol
I love the sound of that "ROCK CRUSHER"!!! That's a stable full pretty girls!😎
Memorable Nova
PSA to the kids in these new mustang's. This is a car that sounds good. Loud is not always a good sound.
Yes thanks for the intelligent comment - SAM
Thanks for the ride..that was Awesome!
When you over power them it was easy to lose control . too light in the rear.
Yeah I didn't wreck it, i actually gave it just enough throttle to keep it from breaking the tires. Thanks for checking it out!
Ain't Nova's just the best muscle car ever made?
This is the way a car should sound!
That was a great memory, got to bang some gears with my friend, appreciate your viewership
What exhaust (muffler) is on this Car?really like the sound when it's downshifted and most of all the Idling.
Wish I remembered to tell you
Love the car don't get me wrong but a lot of little things are wrong 1 the marker lights would be clear not orange 2 The Yenko always had a tachometer either in a console or dash but either way it looks and sounds great
Beautiful car! It's not an original Yenko though. Nice resto mod.
Sounds very healthy. Beautiful car.
it was a fun memorable car. Thanks for watching & leaving a commnet
Yenko, not a Yenko. So what. This Nova is a beast. Great looking and great sounding true muscle car.
+ironhorse127 Yes sir, just a badass Nova, loved this one.
This car is one of the most badass s.o.bs I have seen
Thanks for checking it out
nice Nova, the paint and engine compartment are very clean. is that a Pete Jackson gear drive i hear, never been a big fan of the noisy gear drives but she still sounds very solid. Nice car
Nice car! What camshaft you running? I'm thinking about changing mine in my 427
That ain't no Grandma's Nova! Still would love to find one of those to stick one of my big blocks into it! Those cowl hood look great on those cars. Hey! I think I said that before....Dejaview?
what color grey? looks amazing.. would love that on my 85 Silverado
Marcus Kicker yea i love that gray color. I was scrolling the comments to see if anyone asked
Beautiful looking and sounding Nova.
Good car. What Kind of fan rad have the motor? Flex fan??? Is noisely
Hmm not sure
I'd like to see this go up against a early 60's superstock MOPAR I think it'd be a good race!
my 1 st was a 69 4 door caprice factory numbers matching 427 390hp, sold it for $7k to a guy who wanted the engine for his corvette. my father has a 69 nova ss numbers matching 396/4 speed
tex f That Nova sounds real sweet, not many came with that combo! Thanks for checking out the channel. - Sam
I love the mechanical gear whine. I liked the under the hood shots as well
Yes, I think you were raising some hell..You were going at least 27MPH in that 25 MPH zone!
Nice car anyway.
The car is just plain Beautiful
With out a doubt one of the nicest street Novas I have seen, what are the specs on the motor?
When was he going to raise hail
I did I rowed the gears to redline
Thanks!
Jay leno
Very clean well built Nova, but its not a Yenko. That fan noise is irritating though,
+1 Muncie 4speed.
Do you know what a Yenko Nova is?
Marcus Young Yes.
@kcotte59 it's not a real yenko dumbass
is that a true yenko or a tribute replica yenko ?
Beautiful paint. Oh and that engine! Nice.
I thought those engines had solid lifters and cam? Because it sure is quit under that beautiful hood.
man its been several years now, but I'm sure this was a hydraulic roller. Not a real Yenko of course
samspace81 again, favorite video of mine. I just watched again for the rush. 🤙🏻🤙🏻
ironhorse127 right.....Yeah,that was some crazy stuff. Real intense....
Hell yeah. And an airplane hanger full of some badass toys. Semper Fi.
Thanks for your service Chad and checking out my car channel.
very nice Nove. Love the sound :-)
Such a fun memory
seems like it leans out and gets really quiet when you hammar it.
Just starting this car is raising more hell than driving a Focus...
Thanks for the ride
You bet
I want one of these!!
One of the favorite musclecars I've worked with! Thanks and enjoy the channel.
Love the paint..whats the name of that color?
Gray metallic. Thanks for checking it out
@TheRoguelement Short shifting this Nova would still take care of your wheel hopping Chevelle I'll bet ;)
Awesome car and an excellent video!
sdy0174 needs to go outside and make sure the Prius is connected to the charger!!!!!
engine braking like you should GOOD! let them horses sing everyone a song! i heard either the clutch or the tires squeak at 4:19 from that downshift haha shes a beauty! wish i owned one, id keep it in prestine condition just like it is now

Sounds like it has a close ratio T-10 in it! my 69 Velle has that same trans and it really gets going in 4th
really kool nova .i was wondering do u know about afb carburetors by any chance
Actually there was one found this time last year in a shipping container near York, Pa. Some light surface rust but otherwise all original
L71 was 3 deuces, L88 was 850 4bbl, Im not saying you don't have a L88, But I know chev never offered a L88 6 pack, Even tho some corvettes claim to have them stock, it is not true.
The 427 Wasnt a chevy engine offered at the factory when they were first made, It was for nascar. It was a mystery Engine ,,The porcupine Head.
Great stuff love the old reference porcupine
Not a yenko....bit still nice ride
Truth 💯
I’d say
cool vid but you don't need to wash down the cylinders like that before you shut it off. Just leaves fuel in there to gum up.
