Back in my younger days I was really into the metal music scene. On my birthday a friend of mine got me a Slipknot jacket as a gift. The jacket had the band name at the back with a giant inverted pentagram and "black magic" looking lettering around it. I honestly loved it at the time as I was a big fan of the band. @@ak205 I called every mosque/ masjid in my area asking for a sister to help me learn more. But I think they have been too busy preparing for Ramadan to call me back. Literally said “ I want help to learn as much as I can before I take Shahada”. Feeling ignored at this point. Why would I go to a place that don’t reply to serious inquiry. Also the website that supposedly sends a Quran and hijab to new reverts, hasn’t sent anything and it’s been close to a year now. Soo even though I’ve taken Shahada in my heart, I’d like to do soo with other people believing the same present and have good people as sisters moving forward inshallah.

the situation is like being between a 'rock and a hard place' unfortunately;
there is a lot of jahiliyyah and ignorance in our muslim countries too.
but the reason i agree with you, is that "in theory" we have the ability to control the legislation in our muslim countries (even if all of the politicians are corrupt).
over here, we have no such influence - even on the local politics or culture, let alone the national politics.
if we do want to build our influence and credibility in the west (which i never see happening, not in a million years) - the muslim diaspora will have to become EXTREMELY organised in terms of our public relations, community outreach, and political involvement.
i'm talking organisation on the level of jews. they are the MOST organised community on the planet, they are impossible to break down.
but, instead we have (too many) muslims who are happy to sit back, who say yeah i pay my taxes and i don't need to do anything else. let me just live my life. that's the full extent of their civic engagement.
