Man I love 80s, and 90s movies, even secondary characters had cool dialogues even if it was a one or two sentences, but still epic. Loved Helen when she said “ god; you’re sick “ reminds me when my wife told me that, but then said she was more in a way 😂
I agree, every line and every scene counted and could potentially become a classic, that's why getting a small role with maybe a couple lines was a great accomplishment. Helen became an important part of Tommy's character development with this one scene.
This film taught me that there are different kinds of intelligence (book smart and street smart). Even if you're not great at rocket science, you can still excel in other fields.
This is the scene I think back to when doing sales, making sure I am not like "Jojo the idiot circus boy". It's been better advice for me compared to copying someone elses high pressured tactic.

Saying "you look like a Helen" then acknowledging his own frustration he was able to connect and appeal to her sense of compassion. "Tell ya what....". Bringing out the better side of a person.
Don't forget to de-turd your customer like a shrimp! They'll thank you for it. Also, remember when you're on overnight sales road trips, truck stop waitresses are always a good option when you're looking to "expense some entertainment"...
What's funny is being pathetic doesn't get you a sale. Don't sell shit from a company that is selling crap people don't want. Don't trick people into sales through manipulation, because then you get returns and cancellations and bad public reputation. You find the need by talking to people, and then you fill the need. Be honest and you'll be the top salesman. Take it from a top salesman. Oh, and find a manager who isn't a fucking clown. A good manager and a good salesman will lead the pack. My old manager is now a vice president of a bank. I'm sitting pretty - but I got another tip for you. Get the fuck out of sales as quickly as you can. It's worth it. Tell me you didn't believe every word. You didn't? Tough, it was all true. Take care and don't let the man get you down.
