There's a line where the homage stops being homage and instead becomes a negative form of pandering that actually insults the original. For example, Andy saying "Get away from her, you b*tch!" Off the cuff, this may just seem like a fun tribute. But when you actually think about it from the story perspective, since this is a prequel to Aliens, what you're really saying is canonically Andy is now the first person to say this line, and Ripley down the road steals his line. That's an insult to Ripley's character, taking that line from her and giving it to another character, and now it's something they can't walk back.
I had a HUGE problem with Rook. CGI looked bad and they coulda just casted someone else. They could’ve also said screw it and casted Fassbender lol
