Personally, once you start getting into watches made by Tudor etc., anything over $3k, you are better off saving up some more and buying a Rolex or Breitling. You won’t be happy for long when you spend thousands on a watch that you wear once and is not worth 50% of Retail or maybe even less.

honestly, Teddy, this is some of THE most relatable watch content for young professionals: $1000 well-made watches with history and great movements. not cheap microbrands, but no omegas/zeniths either. there is a LOT in the $800-1800 range especially with gray market and you are really hitting all the best watches that most of us can afford, at least a couple of. GREAT vid Teddy, thank you!!

Here's my plan, buy a Tissot PRX quartz (350e) as my first watch. Then save money to buy a nice Omega or Rolex in the range of 4-10k euro. Because I just don't see the point in wasting money buying models for 650-2000 euro. Might as well buy a really really cheap watch and save up. A 500-2000 watch is nothing to boast about anyway, it wont get you any really nice watches and it wont increase in value most of the time. So I'm going to buy the Tissot PRX because even though I can afford buying a Rolex or Omega now, it's not economically wise as I don't have enough excess money to justify such a huge spending. The money I have is better invested in business ventures as of now. But in the future I dream of a nice Patek, Omega or Rolex. In the ranges of 4-25k euro. Buying the Tessot because imo they are the most respectable watches in that price range. Mostly buying one because I think a watch is an accessory that demonstrates value in men. A majority of women usually find it to be a quite attractive piece of fashion. Odds are when I finally have enough excess money to justify buying such a expensive watch, I will still be as frugal and careful with my money as I am today. They're nice to look at and admire, but quite scary to buy. Think I might try to flip some more expensive models though, need to learn more about the watch game first though.

My suggestion for the dress watch persona in the $3000-$4000 range:
    1. Oris Pointer Date (bronze w/ green dial is my personal fav) - dressy enough for a suit but also works as an every day watch, looks beautiful and adds a splash of color to the collection.
    2. Max Bill (white dial w/ black leather strap) - light-colored option that looks so clean and the white dial with dark strap makes a nice contrast.
    3. Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 (black or blue dial on bracelet) - bracelet and dark-dial option with an 80 hour power reserve at a great price, I personally think bracelets look best with a darker dial and this watch offers great value for the money.

Never, ever buy a watch with an integrated/proprietary bracelet/band. You're just asking to get screwed by the manufacturer when you decide to change the strap or completely fucked when something breaks.

Other than Grand Seiko I completely hate the S word. Buy Orient instead. I will never understand why horologists are infatuated with this banal crap. Good video though. Thank you

well... 80% of the watches are trash tbh
But I like the concept of this video and the thoughts you have made yourself on what type of audience youre talking about.
    Keep going!

Something to consider would be to put time stamps for each category of collector. I've seen a number of youtubers starting to do that right in the video progress bar.

Love the Longines Flagship heritage, I really think they have there one of the most beautiful clasic dress watches. Maybe I would also give a mother of pearl dial option if I was longines, but those are beautiful, both the black face and the champagne dial

I love your channel but I feel like you’re always showing the same watches and I am not discovering new models, new brands, etc. It’d be amazing if you could venture outside of your usual watch preference zone and show us new things, even watches that you might not like personally from an aesthetics point of view but have great movement and are appreciated among watch amateurs

I just got interested in watches again and Teddy is sucking me back with a vengence. I'm watching 3 or more of the reviews a day. Really driving me crazy. Not helping me decide if I want to get several watches or one expensive to me watch.

Teddy, Not even one gold/gold tone dress watch? Your killing me. Your conversation starters were unexpected as well. I would expect a tourbillion, skeleton watch or some sort of gimmick. Those choices wouldn't cause me to start a conversation or at least not a nice one.

disagree with the Orient Defender wearing small...it wears big IMHO...the case is 42mm, and the actual dial is farily large itself as the bezel is thin. It may be the biggest watch face in my collection.

Why would anyone own something under 45 mm?. I don't get it. It feels like I'm wearing a toonie on my wrist. Also is there any other oversized brands other than invicta?

Persona #9 The guy who buys dive watches to surf and dive and uses them like a tool watch. Doesn't mind spending big money to get a watch that won't fail when you're really relying on a dive watch to do what it was actually built to do. Scratches and wear are honestly earned and only increase value. Parts can always be replaced when serviced.

Teddy, I'm a guy so fascinated by watches, that I find it difficult to settle on any watch I want to buy because of all the others out there. It occurs to me the perfect solution would be for someone to set up a watch rental company. Now maybe someone has has already created this and I'm unaware of it. I'd be interested in finding out from anyone.
