I will be eternally grateful that I got to see them about 10 times when I was a kid. Dime was simply the best metal guitarist of my era, hands down. Got my ass kicked so many times in the Pit to these guys. Pure and utter adrenaline and chaos when Pantera was onstage. RIP Dime, they won't make another like you man.
80- and early 90 era was the best metal era no doubt, at least if you listen to bands like metallica, maiden, pantera, entombed, motörhead, candlemass, meshuggah, etc. Born 73 and missed the hardest era of some bands and like oramikleepunk i agree, still listening to the metal music from that time. were the days. I´m so happy I went to the metallica, maiden and pantera concerts I did when I was young, cause that was the last concerts of theese bands with their true soul
Hell, I was living my official last year as a teenager. I remember my pops telling me on my b-day: "you'll never be a teenager again..." and it kinda hit me, that fact. But I am glad the good shit like this was around for me to really get a grip on being so young and fucked in the head. Glad there was the Pantera, Sepultura, D.R.I., Slayer, Rollins Band, Rage, S.T., Minor Threat, Black Flag, Forbidden, Agnostic Front, Metallica, et. al. Even remember Cypress Hill and Beastie Boys!
I'm not mourning Dime's loss, I'm fucking celebrating his life! And I think that's the way he'd want us all to do it. Fuckin' love you Dime, greatest metal guitarist to ever live. CFH!
I was born in 86 but in 92 I had no idea what metal was let alone pantera. its a damn shame being born too late isnt it! There aint anything this epic coming out these days apart from wanabes and copcats. A damn shame. \m/
@MRridl6 I speak for you and all the guys who talk about "mute crowd" ... In those years, to see a Pantera concert wasn't a great event, they came in Italy very often.. In the day of this video, there was about 40°, in early afternoon, and everybody there were waiting for Megadeth, B. Sabbath, Iron Maiden.. different times, different metal culture... maybe You weren't born yet ... and sorry for my bad English
"STONGER THAN ALL!!!!!" haha before Far Beyond Driven came out, Phil must have already had some of Strength Beyond Strength's lyrics written at this time or at least was liking that phrase to put it in a song eventually.
Yes, but the way in which we use electricity (at least on a day to day basis) is a more efficient way of getting heat and light, which is a concept we learnt about through fire. Metallica and Pantera are also separate entities, btw...
@SHOCKWAVE6789 without fire you wouldnt have electricity, but electricity is is still way more badass than fire. Metalica is good for when ur in highschool, Pantera is a way of life.
I didn't say he was from italy, he doesn't have an "accent" but he does still sound somewhat italian. Even look up Phil Anselmo in wiki, it says hes french Italian.
listen everyone can speculate what killed Pantera but WE (Every Pantera fan) have to stop blaming the band. I loved them then, I love them now and I always will. Remember what they gave us. Let the individuals sort their shit out. Together as a band they fucking ruled the world. CFH for life Cheers!
@DestroyerofSouls666 Hey man at least you got to see them. It's like a knife to my groin knowing i will NEVER have the honor of seeing them play. Cherish that memory bro..wish I had one. And fucking eh..agree with the tiger woods swap..i think god has enough guitar talent to last a lifetime.
@warlockmetal1 yeah that's the risk u take as a 1-guitar band, 'empty solos!!!' . but there r soome bassists that get creative with chords / effects to fill that space up a little l..l
@undericesinger - That is why they are called "Side Projects" and not PANTERA.. PANTERA stayed True to what they stood for.. Phil did not put out a non metal album and try to pass it off as Pantera, as Metallica did.. Phil even said had Metallica changed their name on making those albums, that he would respect that.. But using there name to push non metal albums is what his gripe was all about.. but hey, Whats done is done and gone so why cry...
yeah i am like what the hell is wrong with everyone?i would be having the greatest time there for just even one song.and phil is like FUCK this i am getting stoned.....NOT!
this kinda weird but it seems like at the beggining of Cowboys from Hell theres a slow transfer of power from Phil to Darrell Phil just kinda fades and then Darrell obliterates with metal
