    The Great Annie Malone and Madame C J. Walker used hair grease, and both became millionaires from it. Our ancestors used grease, and they had such beautiful hair. We as a race are quick to move with the trends, and it's not necessary. Honestly, I never stopped using hair grease. Your hair is so beautiful 🤎❤️🤎
    Oldies, but goodies: Doo Gro, Dog Mane, Nu Gro, Dudley's Super Gro, African Pride, Blue Magic, and Palmers.

      Hi Healy! 🌞
      Yesss same, my hair was eating up those products left and right back then - Biosilk and V05 were mainstays lol. Glad you’re excited about this challenge too, I’m already super impressed with what I’m seeing : )
      Thanks so much for watching!🌻

    Team grease!! I use light ones on my scalp like Nature’s Blessing, Soultanicals greases or Qhemet. I use heavier ones like Liv, Blue Magic, Kuza Indian Hemp on my hair on wash days. Great results!

    Hey lady!!! I use natural grease and have been for years... I use Camille Rose Gro Grease and Oyin 's Burnt Sugar. I love to use them when I'm pulling my hair back for a ponytail or a bun. It really helps with the flyaways and keeps my edges from breaking off... I am definitely with you on going back to the basics.. I haven't gone back to silicones or anything like that but I definitely have bend finger detangling in between getting sets of braids and twists in my hair. Since I started menopause I have very much been in protective style mode and just trying to protect the hair that I have... When I do wear it out I have noticed a lot of growth and I just keep it protected then and with ponytails and buns... I pray that you're doing better health-wise!!! And I will definitely be with you on this challenge!! Take care of yourself!!

    I'm team grease. I was a grease bae when I was natural as a kid and when I was relaxed. My stylist always greased my scalp before she started styling my hair. I have not tried grease as a naturalista, but am open to it.

    • @AshkinsCurls
      @AshkinsCurls  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Our experience is so similar - team grease as a natural bebe lol and relaxed. Mom would comb my hair/grease my scalp every day after I left the stylist and my hair and scalp were so happy lol.
      I'm only 3 days into my challenge and my hair feels so good, feels like gamechanger territory maybe!
      Let me know if you revisit in the future too : )
      Have a good weekend, thanks for watching🌻🌞

    Really excited to see your results at the end of the month! Your hair looks fantastic 🧡🧡 I like grease but it doesn’t have a true place in my routine. I just use it every once in a while on my edges and nape.

    • @AshkinsCurls
      @AshkinsCurls  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks so much love, appreciate you💛🌻! I'm only 3 days in and my hair feels SO nice - have high hopes. I can see how you would enjoy grease on those areas, the nape in particular I find is so tricky with the friction from laying down/clothes. Thanks for watching!🌞

    I love hair grease, both the natural ones and the petroleum based ones. I used Nature’s Blessing grease in 2017, and it definitely thickened my hair. I spotted a hair food grease by them in a beauty supply store recently, which I plan to purchase. Plain old castor oil is a Godsend for my hair too. Plus, I too just started using silicones, specifically Mixed Chicks Hair Silk, which I love.

    I prefer grease. I use non-petroleum grease from GNaturals, Kemistry Organics, or Natural Oasis. I plan trying some from Naturelle Grow as well. I never liked petroleum based grease or mineral oil based hair lotions. My hair was always greasy and dry. Check you bloodwork and make sure your Ferritin is at least 70 and that your Vitamin D is in an optimal as opposed as normal range. Both of these effect hair growth.

      Ooo I haven't heard of any of those brands except for Naturelle Grow, you've given me some fun new places to check out, very curious : ) Same here, when I used Pink lotion shortly after I went back natural, it felt pretty bad. Extra excited for the brands you mentioned since their greases are petroleum-free, right up my alley. My blood work did show that my Vitamin D was super low, I now take a high dose prescription pill once a week, but need to find some K2 to pair with it. Hopefully it will be much better at my next appointment and will slowly start to help my hair. I never knew what Ferritin was at all until a couple of days ago, so thank you for the reminder, I'll have both checked for sure 🌻🌞

    Hair grease DOES NOT clog your pores, that's a myth. Your hair looks SO good!

    I'm so excited to see your results! I'm still using Pumpkin Seed oil on my scalp and in pill form because of your challenge from last year. 😅

      Hi CreoleKing! Oh I love that - I mentioned that video in this one but edited it out because I went on for so long about how much I love pumpkin😂 Since I began taking a lot of new meds in prep for my surgery this year I decided to hold off on taking Pumpkin Seed Oil pills, but plan to add them soon since that is all (hopefully) behind me : ) Excited to see if it can help.
      Thanks so much for watching and have a good weekend!

    Petroleum based grease is non comedogenic. It does not clog your pores. Almond oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil do clog pores. African Hair God talks about this topic quite a bit.

      I’ll have to check out his other videos on hair grease. I know he’s mentioned that he enjoys using them on his client’s, which was one of the reasons I decided to consider them again, so I’m looking forward to learning more. Thanks for watching.

    Wow I just bought a jar of blue magic last week to try!! I actually used hemp or african pride but couldnt find it so Im gonna go back to try to find those. I never greased my actual scalp, only olive oil, just the hair.
    As far as tangles have you tried cold aloe vera gel (the edible one thats refrigerated) to smooth the cuticle after washing to help w tangles? It has to be cold, and it literally smooths and clumps the hair. I put my leave in & creams under then I put my sealant/gel on top of the aloe. It’s worth a try!
    I use the qhemet pomade too, but wanted to see if actual petrolatum makes a difference. I want to try some more natural grease’s im gonna try some of the ones in the comments!

      Not the new MSM and Biotin/Rosemary goodies, but I really like their old Amla and tea tree/grapeseed pomades for straight hair.
      Might pull them out to see how they do on my curls too. Thanks for watching Tray!
