I feel like this is a trait seen on most free to play mmos. They all have a 100 currencies and 100 tabs and just rediculous amount of systems allowing for incentive flow of money. You could take a 4 week course on this game and still learn knew things.
Yes. I have that on my character recently, and it is really good. I also use the Control trait as well, and both of them makes things easier. Far faster defeating ships as well, with both of them.
I would like to see your take on traits less than 15 million. That's the EC cap for those who haven't bought the unlock. Obviously, grinding out the dil to trade for enough zen to buy the unlock would be advisable, but think of it as a challenge. As to your list, I agree with A Good Day to Die, Intel Agent Attaché, and Terran Targeting Systems. All "S" tier traits. Unconventional Systems is amazing but situational, so I would place it at "A" tier. The Boimler Effect, on paper, is nice. In reality, it has let me down so much that it rests solidly on "C" tier for me. I'd slot Inspirational Leader over Boimler on any day. Good video. Thanks.
I just got back into STO again after not playing for multiple years, and I really enjoy learning about all the new stuff that came out over the time. I still remember watching valikins guides and the basic DPS Rule: EPS = DPS when I last actively played. So it might be 5-8 years ago... Ah yes good old days.
Fragment of AI tech deserves a mention imo. If you're running Bi-Neural, Tachyokinetic and Borg consoles etc, you get a fair amount of control stat, and lots of other top consoles include control stat. I know it's only cat 1, but you can get around a 25% damage increase without really trying. That's not insignificant.
I'm not sure if you made this (I have to check) but a similar video about the starship traits wouldn't go amiss :) I would also like a video(s) for a cannon builds - Scatter Volley and Rapid Fire (if it's at all viable). The amount of different traits (starship and personal) is overwhelming even if I've been playing for years (casually, I must admit).
Id like to see a video of a captain space skill set up for a beam overload build i see many build and trait videos not see anyone do it for captain space skills which i think would be good as newer player will find that section overwhelming
Tell me principle insubordination is on the list. it works well with the boimler effect among other thing including things as far as syntergy goes. there is also a ship trait(reciprocity, make it so)
I ended up getting a World Razer ship. What do you think I should do with it? Is that a ship that I should sell for the EC? I know ultimately it's up to me, but you are quite the expert in STO so I'd like your opinion :D
In case he doesn't get back to you, this might help: I've gotten 2 of them and I share Spencer's (CasualSAB) opinion fully. If you spam 3 or more of the firing modes that it's trait procs from, you can do some MASSIVE damage, like on my SciTorp ship. As a ship itself, I prefer the Hydra... but not by much. So overall, if you NEED the EC and that can be used to get you many of these traits and consoles you may need... sell it.
S-tier goes beyond STO. It's part of a general ranking system that can be seen on many videos. I've personally seen it on anything from video game elements to "Elves of the 3rd age of Middle Earth," and more. Basically, S tier is the absolute best/top. The rest are US test grades (A-F). So it would go like; S = Best A = Excellent B = Good C = Average D = Bad F = Terrible/Never Use

Yes...I am an engineer but I already run most of the traits. I run some of the ones you mentioned as runnerups. along with the "S" tier traits. Would like to see your take on engiineer traits with a torp/beam build( I run a Styx ship for now).
As a returning user, I like the use of this mechanism of recharge time reduction with Photonic Officer and Intelligence Agent Attaché. With those you can really say hello to the good old Aux2Batt builds (even if we had other options back in the days, ofc, but it's nice to see another variant). I will try this combo for sure, ty for the info ;).

I'm think that a good video would very simply, how to set up your action bars. What should go on your spam bar, what should not? Stuff like that. I'm lazy and old, so I tend to just sticks everything on there and mash the space bar. Probably not optimal, eh? I recently came back to the game after a couple of years break so I'm rather getting back into the nitty-gritty of it all.
i checked two of these traits on the exchange. Looks like right now they are about 30 million each which is interesting. I think 60 million is about what a lockbox ship used to cost years and years ago. I still have like 150 million sitting in my bank, several hundred thousand dil on each character. So far the rep grinds are easier than i expected but i haven't started looking into tier6 ships yet. I'm still trying to upgrade my Jem Hadar Attack Ship lol

@@MCStu Good to know! I noticed the hull healing stacks for sure, which has proven invaluable, but the exploit damage doesn't show in my secondary attack tool tips. I notice it only brings me up 5%, which is my own buff, but it's not showing the additional 7.5% Exploit damage buffs from the rest of my Human teammates. Hopefully the devs can work on that because the tool tip indicates stacking. I've been loading it up with Command Officer specialization and Absolute Candor for max results. Really kicks ass with pistols.
@@justinwallace269 as far as I know your bridge officers ground traits do not affect you only the space traits on your bridge officers affect you/your ship.
Back in the T4 only and T5 only ship days, Engineers could out DPS Tactical officers in escorts. While my main character is a Tactical officer, I prefer playing engineers, just because they are so much more flexible as well as having higher power levels on their ships, and better survivability. I like to run Last Ditch Effort with Good Day to Die. I mostly run Advanced PUGs with FAW so threat is a big concern for me. I'm not top shelf damage by any means, and I usually fly Light Cruisers or smaller with above average DPS so get a lot of attention from NPCs on my squishy little ships.
Same dude. My Engi is my main, due to the fact that it's the most versatile class. We can put out enough DPS for any content, while being able to tank any content. Then we can run support on top of that... Love my engi
I'm high up in a STO Fleet, just below the Boss, I always get nervous about promoting my Fleet players. Nervous, because I have the power to promote, demote or kick from the Fleet. What I saying is, if I promote the person to my level will have the power to promote demote and kick, and they could misuse that power. Was wondering if you could cover STO Fleet dynamics in a video?
Why give others that level? Most players in a fleet just want access to the goodies, so just give them access to provisioned fleet stores and other perks that are insufficient to your fleet rank/powers. If they holler too loudly, that is all the more reason to never promote them. I would only promote people (to a level that could demote/kick me) that I knew and trusted very well. Everybody else, here is the fleet stores. Go invite your friends while you're at it.
I like promoting people in our Fleet balung mate. I check the Roster every day. We only ask that people earn 100K Fleet Credits and then they gain full, unrestricted access to all the completed Fleet stores cos in the past some people have taken the piss. I only kick people who haven't been on for over a year cos we're always at our max Fleet membership of 500. But I agree - a vid about Fleet dynamics would be an interesting watch.
@@balung We particularly make that point in out Fleet info about earning 100K Fleet Credits for access about the Stores. It's our only "rule" tbh balung mate. And yeah ....we get new members asking silly things too. That's called "life"! 😉 And btw in reply to your original question there's LOTS of restrictions about Kicking fleet leaders. If you're in a cool fleet that question shouldn't even come up.
Some good choices but I disagree with Tarren Targeting Systems is S-Tier for every build. S-Tier for Sci, Energy and torps but as a Carrier pilot with pets as primary damage Tarren Targeting Systems doesn't boost pets. Varuvian Explosives or Superior Projectile Training would be more useful as at least my torpedo pets benefit from that even though its not the strongest trait. My pets do more DPS then main ship weapons so I would prefer to focus on boosting pets and fitting the theme. Intelligence Agent Attaché is great though I found I can already hit Captain cooldown with Carrier traits so I do not always use it on Carriers.
eh it is a s tier your dissagreement is not logical... 99.99 percent of players don't do pet build only's due to the fact its a hinderance for a group more than a boon. now you probably got away with your torpedo pets being awesome cause you was going into steal other players CF3's. im betting your either shortly going to change that soon or watch your dps drop like a rock in lake michigan...plus if what your doing is working for you thats great but he's giving knowledge to people who may need idea's and are just overwhelmed with the amount of traits and things that are utterly useless except for very specific builds.
@@daleconley5844 The last player survey I looked at had Carriers around about as popular as Escorts and Sci ships. Pet builds have not been niche in years. Since when are pets a hinderance? Pets don't steal CF3, I got away with pets being awesome as I used the torpedo traits and consoles to buff up my pet torpedoes. Why would I shortly change or watch my DPS drop like a rock? Pet DPS has skyrocketed with recent changes not dropped.

I use pets but I don’t make them my primary source of damage. That is my way of game play I like ships that move not ones that sit on a map and are macro dependent. My personal play style though and all things cryptic get nerfed so don’t say your dps won’t drop cause in the end once the new wears off cryptic will nerf the hydra console just look at the history of the game.
Boimler Effect is also on the exchange, for around 70 mil EC, no need to spend Lobi on it.
STO has so many moving parts it definatley isn't a casual game...maybe I can learn the ins and outs once I retire...

Just to add in another trait. If you are doing a science exotic type build. Always always equip Particle Manipulator. It is an S+++.

Engineers are awesome. I don't chase DPS. All of my engineers do more than adequately well at any content I throw at them, Ground or Space.

I use that too. I don't use any of the Personal Space Traits mentioned in this vid. But it's like it is...use what works best for you.

My personal traits always reset.. i just dont even bother with them anymore -.-
I had same issue, if you save the loadout to the ship it should stop clearing them.

Question: Can the Human traits stack if you have a full crew of Humans? Will the bonus Exploit damage and hull-healing/system resist stack?

While its all fully upgraded gear, all the gear is mission gear, rep gear or free earnable gear and one can get in game.

@@vorgonrynkodan1569 I’m not going to argue with you. I’m just saying he was saying most builds to down it cause you build works for you makes you look like a Karen. I use pets but I don’t make them my primary source of damage. That is my way of game play I like ships that move not ones that sit on a map and are macro dependent. My personal play style though and all things cryptic get nerfed so don’t say your dps won’t drop cause in the end once the new wears off cryptic will nerf the hydra console just look at the history of the game.

Had an unrelated question. A what level should you start doing TFOs? I tried one the other day at level 7 and felt absolutely useless.
