It's funny how Dasha doesn't pick up on the whole "Russian spies living as a family in America" cliché at all, that is so instantly recognisable to Americans because it was such a cultural meme.

I kinda doubt she's seen Red Dawn, and I'm old enough to have watched the first one. Or War Games. Or The Hunt for Red October. Or The Americans. Hell, Rocky IV. Honestly, I wonder if Dasha knows the story about the 1980 US Olympic Hockey Team and the Miracle on Ice (and yeah, I'm old enough to remember that, too, though barely). This is not said as a knock on Dasha. She's young and I doubt most Americans her age have seen any of those.

@@chrisd7047 I think he's referring more to the big spy scandal called the "Illegals Program" that erupted in 2010 when 10 Russians living ordinary lives as seemingly normal Americans were all outed as spies living undercover in the U.S. They were deported back to Russia. It was pretty huge news.

Many assess Yelena eclipsed Natasha in Black Widow, that she stole the show. They are sisters in every sense,, and those fans didn't realize Yelena was even more of a treat, she was contributing further to Black Widow's backstory of Natasha for how her sister was in her younger days after defecting. I'm sure big brother Clint would attest to that. Ha.

I really appreciated this one. With the heavy Russian themes in this movie, it really helps to gain perspective from a Russian to confirm/deny the accuracy in their accents and speech and further appreciate the work they did since these were predominately American and British actors. It also helped clear up a confusion on the word "Cyka" for me lol. I had heard it as "Sookah" so much that the more "Sootchkah" pronunciation threw me off first time I heard it. Thank you for that.

Alexei Shostakov is known as the Red Guardian, essentially the Soviet version of Captain America. That's why he's so strong and has the shield. The Soviets in Marvel had several of their own superheroes/villains, including Anton Vanko aka Crimson Dynamo, their counterpart to Iron Man. In the MCU they kind of fused that character with Whiplash for iron Man 2.
The family was planted in the US as a cover for their espionage work, which is why they had to flee when SHIELD found them. They're not related to each other genetically, it was just a cover for their work. The girls were taken away and trained to be ruthless assassins: Black Widows, and in later years they were being dosed with a mind-controlling agent that made them compliant despite their own desire. This is where this film picks up the Black Widow story

I agree that Natasha was a very strong character! It is no wonder that she and Steve end up leading the Avengers after Age of Ultron. I also agree, as did most of the Marvel fans, that natasha's movie should have been a more in depth look at her origins as well as a stand alone before she became an Avenger. I think I, like many fans, were hoping that she would get her own franchise and were disappointed when she did not. I also felt bad for Scarlett Johansson because Disney decided to release this movie on streaming at the same time as theaters, which ended up dramatically affecting how well the movie did in theaters.Thank you for translating for us when you can! Also, your skills in English are amazing too!

  •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

To everyone annoyed this movie came out so late in the MCU - the person squarely responsible for this is the chairman of Marvel Entertainment Isaac Perlmutter. Perlmutter is infamous for his deep belief that female and POC protagonists don't sell, and as such, vetoed any attempt to make any MCU movie with a non-white, non-male main character. It wasn't until Kevin Feige got fed up, went to Disney, and had the Marvel Studios division moved from under Marvel Entertainment and directly under Walt Disney Studios that projects like Black Panther, Captain Marvel, or Black Widow became possible.
As to why this one came out after the other two, the general consensus is that Phase 3 prioritised introducing new characters to round out the eventual big finale (i.e. what would become Infinity War and Endgame) over fleshing out existing ones.

Great reaction. Before you advance with the movies, you must see the Disney+ Mini Series that are part of Phase 4:
    -Wandavision
    -Falcon and the Winter Soldier
    -Loki
    -What If...?
    -Hawkeye
Those are important for continuity of the Marvel story. You can see Shang-Chi without see the series. And even Eternals. But for Spider-Man: No Way Home, I recomend you see those.

"The day the music died" refers to the plane crash in 1959 that killed early rock and roll stars Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens, and ended the era of early rock and roll; this became the popular nickname for that crash. - American Pie - Don McLean.
The song in the opening credits, is a great cover song. Malia J covers Nirvana's Smells like teen spirit. I love it, it is always on my iTunes playlist.
Great overall movie. Yelena Belova is my favourite character of the Black Widow movie. I like Russian's honesty, even if it comes off mean. I am the same way. I don't know if Black Widow is available on DVD or BluRay yet, but I want to get it.

I know many people hate this movie, but I really liked it. I thought it was fun. Black Widow is my favorite Marvel character. Her sacrifice in Avengers Endgame was such a beautiful scene, I loved it. (spoiler: sorry, but the movie is old now)
6:00 she cut the tracker out of her leg.
32:20 she broke her own nose so she wouldn't smell him anymore, that way she could fight him, very clever.

In the comics, but never mentioned in the Marvel movies I don't think, but Natasha has a variation of Cap's super soldier serum. According to the comics about one fifth the strength of Cap's serum. So yes Natasha is extremely strong and it makes her faster, much more durable and she has slowed aging and a healing factor also enhanced reflexes and senses. All that should have been explained in the movies to explain why she survived that fall

14:49 Соловей is "Nightingale". But no, Соловьёв is Surname and Эйр is calque from English "Air", as in short for "Airlines". Together it's a brand name.
15:18 "Mistress Luck" if you wanna be literal. But as it's THE personification, you should call her y her proper name, which is Lady Luck.
18:24 I like this "snow", when avalanche is coming. Reminds me of "Хлопок" as euphemism for explosion xD
18:58 "Farewell, bastards!" to be more precise.
21:41 "Red Guardian". As in, his superhero name.
    23:48 Basically, "Козел отпущения".
37:44 Inaccurate. It derives from Latin and as such is more or less common in Europe as well as both American continents, even if it's not in the top lines of most popular names.

It's a story that had been done throughout the Cold War and probably further back. Marvel was generally trying the same stories in a different medium (and sometimes borrowing from other comics companies). That isn't a value judgment because I love comics, just an observation.

10:54 Now _this_ part I take issue with. Most of the cities and roads in Europe were built in the days of horse-drawn _carriages,_ not _cars._ Thus, they tend to have a lot of _twists_ and _bends_ instead of long, straight _runs._ So if you're going to be on the run in Europe, steal _motorcycles._ Steal things that don't _need_ roads. They didn't _do_ that.

I’ve seen other people who share your belief that a Black Widow movie should’ve come earlier and while I can’t disagree it should be noted that Florence Pugh who plays Yelena and is widely regarded as the best part of this movie would not have been in a Black Widow movie done earlier. It wasn’t until after she’d gotten positive attention for her work in Fighting With My Family, which came out in early 2019, that she was offered the role.

Because this movie was done so far out of sequence, I would RECOMMEND the next thing you watch is the Hawkeye series rather than go directly into Wandavision. The reason is because that last end credit scene with Yelena, Val, and the picture of Clint will play a very significant role in Hawkeye, and it will be much fresher in your mind than if you end up waiting a couple months to do that series in the order Marvel set.

Hi Dasha, I'm Joe...greetings from Chicago!👋☺️ I haven't watched this reaction yet. But having watched several of your videos now, I wanted to remark on why I like to watch you, and why I think you've had such amazing success on YT in a relatively short time. You're very observant, for starters - you notice so much detail & figure things out quickly. You're very funny, you say so many clever, funny & endearing things. You're very compassionate & empathetic; in your reactions to films like Schindler's List & Saving Private Ryan, I find myself crying with you & feeling almost as bad for you as I do for the poor victims in the film..."poor Dasha!!"😂🤣 Your accent is charming & cute, but your English is very good & you're easy to understand. And I think you are a genuinely nice & very likeable person. I'm getting old, just about the age that I could be your grandfather; I've had some serious health (heart) problems lately, and when I find people to watch online who are unique & entertaining it helps a lot, I guess it's kind of therapeutic. So THANK YOU for your cool reactions! I don't have any children or grandchildren, but I would be happy and proud if I had a daughter or granddaughter who was as nice, decent and caring as you. I'm sure your family is very proud of you! Ok, now I will shut up & watch the reaction!😉💖😊

This story's post-credit scene basically continues into the Hawkeye series.
While the other 4 Disney+ Marvel TV shows aired first, even if you watched this one before them, it wouldn't affect or spoil anything.
They're all pretty self-contained in their own story-arcs.
