Simply stunning! Thank you for that... I will take 10 perfectly placed notes from David on that beautiful strat over 100 notes from anyone else. He is and ALWAYS was, instantly recognizable...
IMO it would be unnecessary, because there already are lots of replicas and even custom shop models of it. Guitars like Frusciante Strat or Billie Joe's "Blue" etc. are much better to make videos since you can't find good replicas of them
Dude ur channel needs to go viral, the craftsmanship alone is insane and ur attention to detail is amazing love to watch you work also love to see these baby's come to life.
Had the privilege of seeing Mr. G himself perform that Comfortably Numb solo on Blackie backlit by a half halo projected around him as he was standing on the Wall at the London Pink Floyd Wall concerts at Earl's Court in 1980. Not a bad rendition by MCG here !
@@neilaspin008 So your saying when he played the second solo of Comfortably Numb in this video that what your hearing is David Gilmour and not the guy that built the guitar. If that's what your saying no offense but you surely need to either get your hearing checked or go listen to The Wall studio album Comfortably Numb a few times because what you hear in this video is 100% the guy that built the guitar and Not David Gilmour. I have listened to the studio track of Comfortably Numb probably over a thousand times changing, adjusting, and fine tuning my guitar playing to sound closer to Gilmour, and I can Guarantee you that what your hearing on that second solo is not David Gilmour. The only time you start hearing David Gilmour's playing is at the end at about the 9:12 mark.
This was amazing. I have been girding my loins to build a relicced replica of one of my heroes, binge-watching guitar builds and trying to decide which one to choose for my first. Thanks for the inspiration.
A Dean from hell already exists, even as a production model. Sure, it would be interesting, but not AS interesting. Cliff's Rick however, is a more "exclusive" and/or rare piece of music
Duncan's Vlogs and Challenges it was given to him by one of jimis roadies. It wasn’t anything jimi played just something they had laying around for parts. And that mirror puck guard dweezil put on it later is hideous!
@@taylorgrant23 I much preferred it with the tortoiseshell pickguard, so much so that I built my own replica of it. Nowhere near the quality of these one though!
Thanks for sharing your passion....I really dig recreating masterpieces like this. I have made several my self from other artists and they are incredibly satisfying to play. I found I can make these instruments for a fraction of what Fender is asking, and in the end they are better. Absolutely no compromises, and the attention to set up boarders on total perfection. Its an inspiration to work on and create.
Thank you for all of the detail. This is an amazing build to watch and exactly the information I needed. I'm just building the loaded pickguard for now. The Fender Fat 50's neck pup is getting nearly impossible to find by itself. I wish Fender still sold their pick-ups individually like they used to. Ended up finding a Fender 59 (I hope. If the Ebay gods have smiled) instead until I can get the Fat 50. It's described as being wound with the same type of wire that I could see and has a similar impedance range. Won't sound the same, but it should be close enough for my goofy ass. I already have the SSL-5 and the Custom Shop 69 mid. Now, I'm debating on whether or not to duplicate the wired-in toggle or just get the Obsidian pre-wired kit. I'm not a purist, I'm just trying for a similar sound in a DIY. Thanks again.
I have literally watched this and the other replica rebuilds dozens of times. Amazing work. Is there any chance you could do a tips/tricks video to help with the relicing techniques you use? I want to do a James Jamerson PBass one day and looking for some ideas!
Very nice labor of love and special attention to detail. Probably better than the 2 Custom Shop Gilmour Strat’s I own. Would be interested in talking about purchasing one of these.
Fantastic work! I came for your wet sanding vid and stumbled upon this and some of your other masterpieces. I have to force myself to stop watching so I can do MY projects though!!
18 hours for this is lightning fast. On top of it, it looks better and has more attention to detail put in it then every Fender custom shop guitar I have seen. Particularly the finish relicing often looks really bad and cheap on those in my eyes.
I’ve been shortening my tremolo handles for years. After seeing his I thought it looked more usable and something I would like too and after trying it I have done all my Strats. It’s not in the way and easier to use and pick at the same time. At least for me and apparently David must have found it better too.
The fact you rolled into the solo, bro, just made this the most satisfying video ever lol.
next episode: David Gilmour's fingers replica
He made a video about that...
and then a whole david gilmour replica
Toni Iommi fingertips exact replica
😂😂
Man I thought I was obsessive compulsive with attention to detail. This was just phenomenal. Excellent job. Love Gilmour, love the Black Strat!
Imagine the damage you could do if you worked for fender custom shop :0
Diego Lira the damage would be mostly to my bank account 😳
Adrian Pool I think so too :P
Brain Damage
Yeah damage to the wallets

Eric Clapton "The Fool" SG would be great to see in the future!
Fuck. Yes.
They has a replica "The Fool" guitar for auction on an episode of Auction Kings.
Was hoping the “play test” was going to be the final solo. That was a super cool build, and a very well timed video.
Jimmy Page's #2 Les Paul with all the wiring
Fantastic job man! you should send this guitar to Mr Gilmour since he's sold all his originals for charity
Except for the beat up Telecaster.
It's such a fake baby boomers thing to do.
Simply stunning!
Thank you for that...

We love Rory Gallagher ✌️
Yeah ultra heavy relic lml
@@giannoncene the Custom Shop Rory Gallagher Strat is an insult to his legacy.
The relicing for Rory's Strat would prove to be impossible to successfully replicated IMO

That looked to me like he played along, but the audio was still Gilmour.
Blackie was Clapton's name for his guitar m8, believe the only named guitar DG had was a Tele called the Workman

Man if you have time you should consider dimebag's dean from hell or cliff burton's Rickenbacker 4001
Oh yes Cliff's Rick would be a dream to see remade
A Dean from hell already exists, even as a production model. Sure, it would be interesting, but not AS interesting.
Cliff's Rick however, is a more "exclusive" and/or rare piece of music
Sorry i meant the original dean that dimebag used, the relic one with the KISS sticker and everything
Yes! Cliff Burton’s Rickenbacker bass is great idea.
Cliff’s is one of the most iconic 4001s there is, that would be awesome to see. The mods he did to it are very interesting.
The transition into the last comfortably numb solo was so sick
Just loved this! Especially the way you transitioned into the lead solo on one of my favorite songs. Great job!!

please do Steve Vai's evo next!
The music synched so you directly play the solo at the end is really nice!!
Your relic work is worthy of the Fender Custom Shop, well done sir!
And what about mine?

What a video. Loved watching this. Top work
If i’m not wrong, the black strat originally had a 3-way switch instead of 5-way, thus having the mini-toggle switch for the neck pickup
