AI made this video essay on the cinematic history of AI

To clarify: I used ChatGPT 4 to write the script, nudging it one way or another when necessary, combining different versions, changing a word, etc.
SoundRaw.io for the music, again nudging it toward "suspenseful," "dark," etc.
And Descript for the voice cloning, based on my previous video voiceovers.
It was still edited by me, the lowly meatbag (based on suggestions by chatGPT).

Yikes. Personally, I think we're _right there,_ on the precipice. AGI may already exist and the general public just doesn't know it yet. Arnie is right: when it hits a certain critical mass, it will grow exponentially, well past our ability to control it. And thanks to Late Stage Capitalism, nothing will stop it. My only complaint about this video is that it's too short. On the other hand, I can see what you were going for in terms of a meta-commentary, and it accomplishes that. Overall, well done. And scary.

Yeah, you're right. If there's money to be made from it, it probably can't/won't be stopped.
I could've made it longer, but I wanted to ensure a mid/late October release, and try to hit the highlights from film history and not get bogged down in one film (I tried to do about 1/decade, to varying success).

Sounds mad but I'm glad I gave up on TV. I've had multiple friends lose their narration, camera and editing gigs. Next comes actual voice actors and then cloned faces...
We're polluting our art. (This is in no way a commentary on what you've done here, which is an important demonstration)

I don't disagree. (It was a semi-experiment.) A limitation of writing-AI right now is that it essentially doesn't write anything "new," nothing that hasn't already been written somewhere before.
But I hope you'll try some of my other essays that are 100% human-made. 👍
