RMAF Butterworth 60th Anniversary

In 2018 the Royal Australian Air Force celebrates 60 years of supporting combat operations from Royal Malaysian Air Force Butterworth.
It marks six decades of mutual, friendly cooperation with Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Air Force, and the people of Penang.
In 1958 the Royal Australian Air Force was formerly handed control of Butterworth Airbase.
A ceremony during June 1958 celebrated the commencement of airbase operations by the RAAF at Butterworth. Thirty years later the base was handed to Malaysian Armed Forces.
Australia continues to support activities at Butterworth, with a number of activities taking place to mark the milestone.
