It devolved like five times before that too though?
To be completely fair, Avengers engine didn't revolve around a swinging g mechanic like most of these games. So honestly, for what it is, it's perfectly fine. I don't need ps4 spudey fluidity in a multiplayer beatemup game

I mean, it's faster, but not really better. But I Avengers it didn't need to be faster than everyone else's. I feel like everyone complaining about it hasn't even played it. It's perfectly fine for what it is

@@poweeeeeer8232 you mean one of the many games on here where the entire games Foundation was built off the Swinging mechanic? Traversal was always going to be a difficult point in Avengers seeing as some of the heroes have completely different traversal options.

@@thirdeye4686 in older games (and some modern ones), the webs don’t actually attach to buildings. Most games nowadays show the web attached to something like a building or lamppost, but other games just have the web shoot up into the air attaching to nowhere. Since uncle Ben is dead, and heaven is said to be up, the webs in those games are jokingly said to be attached to an Uncle Ben in heaven

I love how in the new games (Marvel's Spider-Man and Miles Morales) Miles is not just a re-skin of Peter. He actually has his own moves while swinging, he is a bit clunkier than Peter and has a bit more "teenagery" and "hipstery" style of swinging while Peter's swinging is more refined and efficient let's say cuz of course he is more experienced.

I love Ultimate Spider-Man’s web swinging so much, it’s so satisfying
But then again, the place where it felt absolutely better than everyone else’s was in Spider-Man PS4 (for me at least)
I'm shocked Fortnite managed to nail a lot of stuff with their Spider-man. It wasn't shown in this video, but you can also web yourself behind a moving vehicle to start surfing. Honestly, I wish the PS4/PS5 games had that feature. Imagine being Miles and sliding behind a truck or a car during a chase sequence.
You can web yourself to a rocket shot from an RPG in Fortnite as well

@@thatguy8777 My is honest opinion they both have amazing swinging mechanics and animations as well as many tricks to do while swinging.
Honestly, when it comes to button control, I like TASM 2. I love how L2 controlled Peter’s left hand when swinging, and R2 controlled his right hand. Really just having control in general. Same with Fortnite. You got to control where you shot your webs. Either way, I’m excited to see what Insomniac does with Spider-Man 2!
I'm Pretty Sure Their Almost Done, Its The AI, Costumes And Posible Swinging That's Halting Them.
The web swinging of Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time are the best web swinging systems for a level based Spider-Man game.
Marvels Avengers has one problem.
When you shoot the web, you just stop. You don't slowly move, you simply just stop moving, mid air, and that makes what little momentum the game has harder to notice.
I’ve heard it was on purpose so that you wouldn’t go lightning speed in front of all the other characters.

@@Batman-ps4om exactly thats why Iron man and Thor are so slow so that everyone is going at about the same speed so that no one is already at like 2 km in front of the team. At least thats what I’ve been told

The fact they were able to change the web slinging that much from marvels Spider-Man to Miles Morales in less than two years only makes me more hyped to see how much it develops in marvels Spider-Man 2 when it drops in 2023 and we get to play as both characters

Apart from the web swinging, I love how Spiderman ps4 has the spider suit match the world in saturation so it doesn't look out of place like many of the others. Same goes for the web, it's not super white, just the right amount that feels realistic and is noticeable
2004 spider man on the ps2 will always be pinnacle of spider man games. Being able to swing between building and walk the streets for the first time was a game changer
The fact that the marvels avengers version has Peter moving slower than a dump truck without any tires on and he has the audacity to go "woooohoooooo" in mid air is insulting
Also the slow flips are just weird when he floats when doing them

I love it when Spider-man does his mini/short aerobatic move while swinging. And I’m amazed that they did it in 2005 with Ultimate Spider-man. And the Ps4/PS5 and Miles Spider emphasize it even mote.
Marvels Avengers swinging is just so stilted and awkward…. Doesn’t help that each swing is followed up by a shout from Peter giving off the illusion he’s actually traveling a significant distance…. Maybe a speed increase would help make it more fun to swing than how it is now.
The swinging and animation is fine as it is. really the only problem is that every new swing you just lose all that momentum you’re supposed to have and completely stop midair

It really doesn’t help that the Insomniac games have such amazing no pun intended swinging, and then the Avengers Spider-Man has like no momentum and the flow is nonexistent and the Fortnite of all games managed to have decent swinging
the people who made it probably didn’t know how to code it properly and just gave up. like if you’re gonna make a video game, you should at least know what you’re doing 💀

Spiderman 2 has a quite good momentum unlike Marvel's Avengers having absolutely no momentum ☠️
Spiderman 2 quite literally laid the foundations for good web swinging... and Insomniac improved on those and created their own foundation

Lowkey enjoyed Spiderman 3's web swinging I know some people had the issue with the speed and gaining height but I never had that issue from what I remember

Whoa, okay. This is like the best web swinging evolution video out there. Not only is super inclusive when it comes to games not necessarily /centered/ around Spider-Man, but it shows off the various animations super well and doesn't look like someone let their drunk toddler play. And the enemies were cleared out too so they didn't mess with shit which was SUPER appreciated. Sorry, I've been watching a lot of these cause NWH got me thinking about multiverse Spider-Men and I wanted to see different styles so I think I'm a bit of a snob now. But this is the best one out there *bar none*

I love the web swinging from Spider-Man 2000, Spider-Man 2, and Spider-Man 3.
Despite it's swinging mechanics, I still believe Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions set the narrative for story lines throughout these games. This one really hits close to home with being one of my first and best spidey games of all time!
The amazing Spider-Man 1 has amazing camera work, I love how the camera is so close to Peter and moves very cinematically through the swings

Going from Miles Morales to Marvel's Avengers gave me whiplash
I really hate to see the choppy momentumless swinging in most of this video. It's crazy to see the attention to detail fortnite put into it. While you can't run on buildings or land on anything while swinging, the momentum is incredible and I Iove the fact that every web has to attach to something and isn't just being shot into the sky straight up into nothing. The biggest downside is that the targeting system glitches out a lot for me.

Personally I like the Amazing spiderman Web swinging and off center camera angle paired with its Web rush the most. To me it gives the most fluid experience while showing momentum.
In the new spiderman games there's momentum but it doesn't rise and fall like it should. It feels constant.
The amazing Spider-Man 2 games is one of my favorite games and also has such good swinging. The music is also amazing very nostalgic

Miles game has really good web swinging. I mean Marvel's Spider-Man had pretty good web swinging but Miles game did improve it pretty significantly. Makes me hopeful for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for sure.

What holding the web if it not the building
I still think that Spider-Man 2 for PS2 had the best sense of speed and momentum of any game; PS4 made him just a bit too slow even when doing a full free fall but this was much improved in Miles Morales and seems to be even better in Spider-Man 2 (new one) coming up. I think the PS4 limit / speed restrictions was much more for render / performance reasons.
Edge of time will always hold a special place in my heart.

Fortnite is unironically one of my favorites. Getting to pick where you shoot your web made it feel so interactive

Not enough Ultimate Spider-Man love. Some people say that it’s clunky, but it just has a high skill ceiling. Once you figure it out and get used to it, mobility becomes so damn fun and fast paced.
