TASM2 had great gameplay but terrible story and crime system but the original TASM game is one of my favourites and so nostalgic
I don’t think the word “great” is the right word to use. More like good or mid. There were random great moments but overall the game is bad.

Edit: My comment had nothing to do with graphics. I meant like the camera angles, Spidey’s movement animations, etc. The style. But somewhere, someway, two strangers will always find each other in replies to argue lol

@@thameezgamer6332 Arkham Asylum came out in 2009 on ps3/360 and still looks good in 2023. Looks better than most ps4/one games 2014-2020.

@thameezgamer6332 those are the best looking games that came out for ps4/one. Obviously they look better...they're the best looking of that generation. But arkham asylum looks as good as most games that came out 2014-2020. Point being, there's a very uneven advancement of visuals in games.

1:25 I wouldn’t say it’s “missing”. The context of how he heals is different in each game. In TASM2, he uses his webs as bandages. In Marvel’s Spiderman 2, the healing abilities are purely within the technology of the suit, so an animation wouldn’t be possible in that situation.
Moreover, a slow animation would make you unable to heal mid-combat, which would make the game significantly harder for less skilled players
so your excuse for it not having healing mechanics is that is harder. Poor Furry

I really miss the left-right trigger mechanic for web swinging from TASM2. It helped me get just that tiny bit more immersed in the gameplay.
It's not bad that Insomniac doesn't have that, it's just a feature I wished they'd include.
It is possible they could've added a legacy control option. A lot of ppl dying realize that each Trigger basically has 2 press types: Short Press, and long press(where you can actually feel the haptic triggers pressure). Returnal actually takes advantage of this and it's how your gun has 2 different firing modes within one button. Idk why nobody else has thought to do something similar with L2 or R2 yet.
@_The1whoknocks Very true and great point with Returnal. One of the first games I played that made use of that haptic feedback and it works really well. Also, just a great game.

its almost non comparable. the feeling, the cinematic presentation, and now due to advanced traversal is so good in msm 2 and it puts tasm 2 to shame. it had its unique ideas for gameplay but it didn‘t really go well due to the game feeling undercooked and weightless.
Facts. I laughed when I just saw the title I'm like there's no comparison the current era is so much better and I can't believe I used to think the amazing Spiderman was good at the time it's so bad lol
@@jakearrow8047 i can still recall when i bought tasm 2 for full price and trying to cope and justify it. meanwhile my brother and my dad (who usually is impressed by games) said „are the devs serious? game looks bad and its 14 chapters long“
but replaying it feels like a horrible nightmare. the hero and menace system is so off putting, gameplay itself is extremely shallow, graphics are bad at best and the story is a mess.

Yes. It's fun, but not a good game and totally not underrated. Dialogue is cringey, visually also not great and buggy.
The only thing i don't really appreciate is the swinging animations, even if it's clean. It really deserves more love

I think TASM 2 was the best movie, best suit, great villains, amazing story! Too bad the game didn’t live up to the movie, tho the game was fun.
tasm2 was the best movie in terms of pure spider-man action, and it had a lot of great things going for it (imo GOAT musical score) but it was a mess in a lot of other ways that really degraded its overall quality 😢

for some reason TASM 2 is hated a lot. I still cannot understand. I was just 11 when I watched it and as a childhood Spidey fan it matched my expectations.
great action, one of the best music by hans Zimmer, one of the best VFX(of electro), better than no way home.. I feel the story was a let down maybe but overall one of the best movie for kids to watch.
yeah it had flaws like goblin out of nowhere or not focusing enough on electro. but it's hated I feel only because it's not a part of canon Mcu.
bring Andrew Garfield into the mcu via secret wars and then you won't have these haters hating Mcu.
by this logic captain America the winter soldier was mid as well as it didn't match expectations of many superhero fans, which also came out in 2014.

You can also rappel from the walls in marvel spider man 2 only if u hold the wall with ur web for a certain amount a time with a slow speed cause if u go fast it will perform a slingshot if u go slow it will hold the wall or let it go so ye I tried to do it and it worked for me

there is apparently an animation for running downwards on buildings in the first insomniac Spider-Man game but it seems to be cut from the game or unfinished or something. People found it somewhere in the game files. It's a shame they never actually added it especially since this proves they clearly worked on it at one point.
Tasm2 was a bad spm game but had random awesome moments. Slingshot while swinging is cool (even tho that was in spm2 PS2), very few crimes are better than spm2 ps5. In tasm2 if there was a burning building you actually had to go inside the building and save ppl whereas in spm2 ps5 you just web icons. The car chases in tasm2 ps4 are more interactive than spm2 ps5. Tasm2 has a combat area (it’s not expansive at all) but in spm2 ps5 as of this comment there’s no combat arena or even repayable enemy bases. yes the L2/R2 was cool but there a very limited animations in comparison to spm2 ps5 let alone spm ps4.
The acronym "Spm" really makes me angry for some reason...
I like the detail of a Web Rush in tasm, it gives that cinematic feel, it was very good for its time i believe,
The few things I would like in the insomniac games from this game is two things, one the healing I think it would be cool, you can switch to it or just have the normal version, I think it should be a game that is customizable for players. 2 the way you shoot webs from falling down, you know if you shoot webs and you have the that animation fall, I think the one insomniac’s is not good.

Both ASM2 and Web of Shadows actually have better combat systems and boss fights.

Of course, both games have their big drawbacks... but each has something special.

Wow Insomniac really borrowed a lot of mechanics and combat ideas from Amazing Spider-Man series. Also a few things in TASM2 felt better like the side wall running animation and down the wall running .

What I like about the car chases in TASM2 is that they require you to be in control at all times. Getting on the car, removing the back window, saving the hostage, removing one of the thugs from the car, getting back on the car if you fail. It's a simple and straightforward system but it makes you feel like you're actually stopping the crime that's being commited. Hence, a car chase.
In Spider-man 2, it's a button prompt and that's it. You zip on the car, and press whatever button shows up. Which is in all honesty questionable, considering how the car chases were in the games prior to Spider-man 2. Where you move to each side of the car to take out each criminal one by one before stopping the vehicle entirely. It was a lot more engaging.
I think they were going for a more realistic approach. If Spider-man can stop the car without taking down each thug individually why doesn't he? And yeah, makes sense. Only problem is, is that you're stripping the player of their control and in the end it just becomes a cutscene.

The web swinging in tasm 2 game was so disappointing. The tasm 1 game felt like you were in a movie. This one, it feels fake.
The one downside to TASM 2 is that the Camara was up your ass when swinging
well this both games had ther own good point in their way but, overall details physics and the logic that i liked the most, was The Amazing Spider-Man 2 so yea if we had to choose a winner for this comparision i would prefer choose: TASM 2 more.
Never played either one but both look great.... Also noticed the voice actor for tasm2 is the same guy who does Donatello for the 2003 series, which is awesome to me 🥷🏿🐢💯

Lets be for real, good thing Insomniac got the Spider Man game rights. With Insomniac now in charge of the Spider Man games, they are on winning streak. Now the last and final ever worst Spider Man game is TASM 2. Now not only Insomniac is the king of Spider Man ganes but also the king of Marvel games.

In TASM2, Spidey is so much more aggressive and brutal, and that was fun at the time, but now that we have the new game, even though a couple of features are missing like the sliding down a wall, I do think it's better than the older one. I like the less aggressive Peter. Especially in the stealth takedowns, it's noticable. In TASM2, Peter smashed that guy's head in the wall a second time for good meassure like pulling him into it full force wasn't enough. Like, why was that necessary?
The difference is tasm 2 spider man don't have gadgets given by Tony stark that are flying spider legs thing from back side, he lives in different universe, while marvel spider man 2 peter based on Tom Holland based peter

In my opinion, the only thing that TASM 2 wins is the wall-climbing gameplay, because in addition to changing the camera, making it more immersive, it looks more like Spider-Man is climbing, like, sticking his hands to the walls , and with the help of the camera, it makes the fact that he actually sticks his hands to the walls much stronger.

Huh, i used to love TASM2 as a kid.. well i guess we all kind of did.
But yeah.. the game is very unpolished. New York looks like a cardbord cutout, the swinging is slow and the physics are weird. The combat is simple and leaves no room for creativity (very flashy tho), and new york is very small in both the x and y axis..
But i can't bring myself to hate this game, i have so many fond memories of it..
The bar for super hero games is only getting higher and higher

The one thing I don't like is that the original likeness for Peter Parker in Indomniac's Spider-Man was changed to look more like Tom Holland. I liked the way he used to look, it fit really well with the character and _is_ a different character. I don't understand why they did it. Money and brand recognition, but I still don't get it.

@@bagle5599 ok fs!!! so rappelling is when you descend, or ascend something, and that state can only trigger when you are from a ceiling (in this game you can even do a multitude of things other than just going up or down, like stealth takedowns, and shooting webs, same case for tasm2), and when you trigger the hanging state when you get zero momentum from your web you can do neither of those things. sure, the animation is shared between those two states but the mechanics are completely different. you can also hang from your web in the tasm 2 game but you cannot go up or down because that isnt considered rappeling since its still a web swing, and thats the same case for msm2. (you can also move while in the hanging state to get your speed back in the tasm2 game, unlike msm2) anyways i really hope this cleared up your ignorance!!

I don't think it's fair to compare the swimming mechanics. In the TASM game you were never meant to leave the island, yet in SM2 you can. Its just not a gameplay feature that was needed in the TASM game

Man they really missed a lot of minor details in Marvel’s SM, specially with the crimes they sucked in the second game. Ive never even played Amazing SM but ill tell you it looks great and id def grab it if i saw the disc copy.
