“Why do I just have to be so beautiful today, because I’m looking good in everything! It’s a problem!” 😂 this is why I never wear makeup or contacts when I go clothes shopping, because if clothes make me feel good when I’m not all made up I know that’ll they will look extra good when I am!
That is a brilliant idea! Thank you for sharing that! 😊
Found you through TH-cam;s algorithms.. and I'm so happy! I just wanna say, you are so normal and relatable! I miss this around me.. It's so nice to listen to you, nothing extreme, just down to earth, to the point, etc., sprinkled with a bit of a sarcastic humor! Just my kind of person! Subscribed. 🙂
Your comment made me so happy. 😊💕 Thank you so much for watching!
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns Of course! I'm actually planning on starting to watch from the oldest to "catch up". 🙂
Another thought on “seasons”. When decorating our homes we pick colors that go well together and seem beautiful to us. It’s the same when thinking what to wear - does this go with me, with my complexion the way I am? Working with the canvas we have and valuing it. That’s why I stopped coloring my hair even though several people told me my natural hair color was dull (it’s dishwater blond). Wearing summer colors helped me see the beauty in my complexion and hair color even though it’s not dramatic and high contrast. Not trying to be an evangelist for “seasons” 😅 it just truly has helped me be less self-conscious and embrace the body God gave me. A great book on the topic is “More than a Body” and it addresses some of those issues of always seeing ourselves through the eyes of others instead of just living our lives.
I totally hear what you’re saying. I don’t want to get TOO fixated on the seasons and color analysis (mainly because my complexion seems to be one that’s hard to pinpoint a specific season and I don’t have time to go down that rabbit hole haha)… but like you with your hair, I also want to feel good about myself as I am! A big part of that is just avoiding the colors that make me look tired or like I’ve just ran a mile and working with what I have that doesn’t do that to me haha. I’m glad you were able to find what works for you and your natural hair color. Maintaining dyed hair is a lot of work and money! Thank you for watching, sharing your experience and the book recommendation, I’ll check that out!😊💕
14:19 THIS is what im here for. Thank you for laying out your capsule like this, its so pretty 😍
There's just something about it right?! Thank you for your comment and watching. 😊
What perfect timing! I just watched your video from last year and now this new one comes out. I just think you are so fabulous and love your videos, thank you for making them!!
Well, it’s just a fall capsule wardrobe palooza! 😅 Thank you so much for watching and your kind comment. 😊💕
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns can't wait for your update to see what worked out and the things that maybe didnt :)
Are you sure you are a cool summer? Seems like the colors you are drawn to are more autumn. Though it's hard to tell online, the first sweater seems to have a pink base, so that should work for a cool summer, but not the sweaters that are more orange or yellow warm based (like the camel). Taupe is a cool neutral, as is charcoal or light gray and off white. Bright white and black are a no go for cool summer because they are more a cool winter with bigger contrast - I used to live in black, but found out I'm a cool summer and do see how it's too much for me, but I do still wear it on occasion, especially on the bottom since it's not near my face - I do, however, see and find that when I stick to my cool summer colors, its much easier to mix and match my clothes because everything "goes" together seamlessly (even better than black- ha!) Always enjoy these videos of yours!
The cool summer pallet is what seems to suit my skin tone the most. But is it what I’m drawn towards? That’s a big heck no. 🤣 Like you said, I’m generally drawn toward the autumn palette, and with everything that I’ve accumulated over the years and my choices for a lot of my home decor, it shows. 😅 I guess what I have currently for fall doesn’t look terrible necessarily, but after ending up with a few things over the summer that actually complimented me really well I’m going to be on the hunt for a cozy sweater that actually looks great on me color wise. But it seems like depending on how I do my hair/makeup can help make the colors I do currently have work. The older I get getting dressed has been simplified, but also complicated. Thank you for breaking down all the colors for me. 💕 I really start over thinking things on another level when I have 2 different but slightly similar shades next to each other. 🤣🤣
I always thought I was an autumn too because those are the colors I live. But I think I’m actually a light/ medium spring. It’s really hard to figure it out
The one before the dark sweater is my favorite one! It brings out the warm glow in your face. It makes your face look radiant! I would say a no to the dark sweater, I think you said black.
I will mention that people’s screens can also be different than what colors you’re seeing. I’d say keep what feels good to you. My mom says if you 3 love it, keep it! (3 out of 3).
I love that, "if you 3 love it, keep it". I think I 3 love probably less than half of my stuff haha. 😭
@ I hear ya! I want a new wardrobe, but I want to buy quality stuff. Not stuff that you wear once and you wash it and it’s pilling and off colored. Do you have any recommendations?
"Sometimes i know things and sometimes I dont" lol sold i hit subcribe as soon as you said that😂
HAHA! Thank you!! I’m not claiming to know much here. 🤣
Lol, totally understand the dresser. Im a visual clutterbug, and dresser drawers are where things go to die.
“Where things go to die” I couldn’t have said it better myself. 😅
Yes to the yellow sweater and the more muted red one! You have really nice clothes
I’m with you. They’re the ones I lean towards. Thank you!! 💕
A large portion of your clothes are more autumn warms. Both reds lean warm and the mustard yellows and oranges. Plus the warm browns…..
Also props to you for actually wearing whole outfits. I just saw another lady who only had tee shirts and leggings as her daily outfits. I couldn’t imagine only wearing tee shirts 😬or why you’d need project 333 to figure out which ones you’ll wear lol 😂 (I’m probably alone on that hill though, but tee shirts are pajamas and work out gear for me) 😂
Yeah, totally autumn. None of my clothes really fall into the "cool summer" category which I'm really not drawn towards anyway. 😅 Thankfully most people who have put their two cents in have categorized me as a soft autumn, which I can get on board with. 😄 I also, like you can't get on board with only leggings and t-shirts as my primary wardrobe.. though there are phases of life that I've been through, like after a new babies where that was all I had energy for and jeans or anything "nice" felt exhausting haha. I do love a t-shirt with denim though... and my pajamas. 🤣 Thanks for watching! 💕
Once I got miscategorized by a specialist to be a cool summer. But my intuition was better and later that color specialist agreed with me that I'm in fact soft autumn. Your beauty is similar to mine. So no wonder you look great in muted rusty reds...
The question that works for me for color is “do I see me or do I see the garment?”.
Yes! I heard that mentioned in a video I watched and it has been SO helpful. Now, if I feel like I see the garment, I put my hair up with some kind of headband and that seems to help balance things. Some colors just aren’t invited to my closet anymore haha.
You are definitely a soft Autumn! Soft Autumns look great in all the colors you tried on! Keep them all! You look great in them all. That's why you "know" you like them. The only colors that are not in your pallet are your baby blue dress and black/ dark gray. For more info, I like Lora Alexander (she actually understands color theory)
She definetly has a cool skin tone. Sesonal colour analysis isn't for her.
I’ll look up Lora Alexander! Thanks for the tip! 💕😊
The dress your Mom got you fir Autumn is a cool tone & looked good on you. Add a nice pop of brighter color with a scarf or cardigan around your face.
Same for the gray sweater, they are more neutral colors and not as harsh as black would be.
The gold tone sweaters are not in your "color range." The longer one you like with leggings is more cool. Could you wear a cool toned oversized shirt under it to bring a more suitable color around your face?
Try making these decisions another day, you seemed frustrated and not in a positive mindset for this activity that day. Come open minded with accessories that could help you make your favorite comfy items work.💐
Thank you for your insight! 😊💕 I decided I can't care too much haha.. just being mindful for future purchases to avoid buying (or returning) things that make me look like I've ran a mile or haven't slept in 3 days. 😅
Not the lady Elaine Fairchild 😂😂
As a kid, I remember not being able to decide if I was scared of her or not. 🤣
I love the sweater over the dress combo. You did a great job on your minimal wardrobe. I'm doing the same!
Thanks so much! I hope your minimal wardrobe journey is a breeze. 😁
love your capsule wardrobe videos! You inspired me to reevaluate the colors that compliment my skin tone too!
Thank you! I hope your journey to figure that out is easier for you than it has been for me. 😅 I know I recommended Style DNA a couple times in my videos and I think it’s an ok place to start but not necessarily accurate.
Great video! With your sweaters, most of them seem similar in style/shape, so if the colors are similar I would just go with the one you like the most.
Not a bad idea. 💕 I guess it seems kind of silly to hang onto the version of 2 similar sweaters that I like the least .
That was me who told you not to get rid of that rusty-red sweater, but now that you’re trying them on I like the second deeper red more on you ❤
I’m going with your original suggestion. 😅 I want to like that deeper red, but it’s more orange than it appears on screen. Too bad because I do love the style.
Yes to the lighter red sweater, no to the darker one. Yes to the mustard colored sweater, no to the light brown one. No to the black ones. I agree with you.
Also, you crack me up! 😂
I’m with you. The darker red sweater and the black are going. I did decided to keep the light brown one because it’s my only longer sweater. Thank you for watching! 💕😁
I think the brightest red sweater and charcoal gray sweater are the least flattering colors of the 6(?) sweaters you tried on. I really like the tan/brown version of your favorite sweater style. The weave sets it apart from the other tan sweater.
Yeah. I’m with you. Those 2 are the sweaters I’m for sure parting with.
According to both my brother and daughter, vests are always in style. Lol.
Even if it’s not about fashion, they’re a functional necessity some days! lol
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns lol, my Mom and brother swear by vests for staying warm. Not sure if it is my health issues or what, but I need my arms covered and sometimes when I was in offices wore fingerless gloves as well.
The checked boots go with everything on your bed, don’t overthink it!
You’re right. On both accounts. 😅 They do go with everything AND I’m overthinking it. 🙈
The reddish sweater looks really great on you! It's definitely a cooler red, but I also think your skin tone might be leaning a bit toward neutral toned which makes it easier to wear all kinds of colors.
I'm a spring but definitely cannot wear summer colors, my partner is a winter leaning neutral & can wear warm colors aswell.
There have been so many skin tone tests over the years that I’ve taken for foundation etc. and the question “are your veins green or blue?” always had me stumped. Like… neither? is both an option? 😅 I’m just now learning in the last month that neutral is indeed an option which seems to put us neutral people a little all over the place. Thanks for sharing your experience and watching! 😊💕
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns interesting right.😂 think of how many undertones actually exist. There has to be something in between. Anyway I enjoyed the video, love from the netherlands !
I agree with you that gray and black are a no. I like the cooler red sweater on you better plus the mustard and raspberry one are flattering.
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts! Everyone’s input is making long term decision making a lot easier. 😁💕
Charcoal gray with a red lip !
A classic combo. 👌🏻😍
The first two sweaters you compared are so similar in color that it did not make a big difference. But since they are so similar and your goal is minimal, just pick the one you like best.
You’re right. The sweater that makes me look like Lady Elaine Fairechild is going. 😅
First time seeing your videos and love how naturally humorous you are....Laughed so hard at your wording "undercarriage"....haha.
HAHA! The humor is genetic. 😅 Thanks for watching! 😊💕
I think any colors that are muted look good! Like the more dusky the color whether it's warm or cool seems to look good on you! I liked all of the muted reds and oranges. I think if you like the color you don't need to worry about the season ❤ like even if that charcoal black isn't your best color you might pair it with a scarf or whatever!
I’m with you. Im not so concerned about the specific season at this point. I’m just trying to look like I’m alive. 😅
@SimplifyingTheSatherns I totally get that 😂 I'm between hmm does this color reduce acne/redness but accentuate dark circles under the eyes or vice versa 🤔
Yes! Like trying to find the sweet spot between not looking exhausted and not looking live you’ve ran a marathon. 😭
If you were to put the green boots with the orangey type sweaters or browns they would pop as a statement piece.
That’s a good point!
Random thought having greatly narrowed my wardrobe down.... a few seasons of going through you will start gravitating toward the clothes you look good in, and if you think your makeup changes that, you might look at those colors too because you can be wearing the wrong season there too.
You’re so right. I’ve already really started noticing the stuff I’m wearing on a regular basis and the things I’m less drawn towards. And you’re right about the makeup as well. I added a second shade of blush to my collection in the spring and now choose one or the other based on what I’m wearing and it makes a huge difference!
All the sweaters but the gray which you don’t like look very warm in the video.
I think you’re right. I had to step back and look at them all individually and actually process them. 😅 Leave it to me to be drawn to all of the colors that I have to work my makeup and hair around to actually look good in. 🤪
Hey Aubrey - Can I just say how funny you are? I won't call it all out but quirky is a virtue. I can sense all of your thought processes and enjoy your side-quibbles.
As far as coloring - please see my response to 0001 (did I get that right?) I'm not an expert but I'm not convinced your a cool summer. Those three sweaters you have in different colors prove it, perhaps. The rust and gold - toooo saturated/warm. The charcoal works - not the most ideal but works well. The soft red sweater and the soft gold/beige sweater that you contrasted with the brighter versions are just right. That's what led me to think that you are on the cusp of soft summer/ autumn.
Anyway, sorry to rattle on and I hope I made sense. Oh! Love olive/khaki on you. Keep the puffer thingy 😁
Haha! Thank you. 🥰
And thank you for your input! I feel very thankful for it because I like the colors in the soft autumn more than I do the cool summer. 🤣 It’s just the greens that throw me off because i feel like the cool summer greens look better on me than the soft summer greens. I’ll figure it out eventually and overthink everything in the meantime. 😎
Just kidding. I just spent far too long looking deep into soft autumn and found some more in depth pallets that showed more of the greens that fall into that category and it is actually a lot of the greens that look good on me. Definitely more subtle versions of the cool summer. I’m definitely leaning towards soft autumn. Thank you again!!
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns Cheers! 😁
Just came across your video, I enjoy hearing you talk through your thought process. For the seasonal color analysis, I have similar coloring to your and have gone through the soft summer/autumn, maybe deep or shaded autumn quandary. I’ve found that having pale, mostly neutral skin with a hint of olive makes me not fit exactly in any season. “Traditional “ autumn colors or ones with a lot of yellow, including olive greens and yellowish browns, are terrible. Teals and wine reds look good. Also, with your darker hair, you can probably handle darker colors than are in the soft pallets.
What you described is exactly what I’m experiencing. The olive neutral skin that doesn’t seem to really “fit” in any specific season. Thank you for sharing your experience and suggestions. It was all very helpful! 😊💕
I would so love to wear sweater, long dresses, amd uggs…… but still having 100 degree days in California …..would love to have four seasons …… not just a few months of beautiful weather and then 6 months of hot and dry
Oh goodness! That sounds quite terrible. 😭 I remember going to Disneyland during winter break when I was 16 and being mind blown that I was wearing only a hoodie in December. 🤣 That California weather is no joke. 🥵
I can’t imagine life without winter. And snow. And fuzzy sweaters. 😢 one of the only advantages of living in rural Indiana. 😅
I was so excited to see this. We had our first night waking in months (15 month vaccines) and while I got the little guy back down I’ve been awake since 5:30 and trying desperately to sleep.
So this is 100% the pick me up and motivation I needed!
I remember when I was 13 my mom dug out her big old seasons book and I was like that’s dumb…now I’m seeing some value in it. 😂 I will say the first color test I took I was like yeah that can’t be right (it was saying I was a cool summer) so I took two others and they put me as a soft autumn which felt more accurate for the colors I feel my best in.
Also that sweater you have in multiple colors looks incredibly cozy…where is it from?
Ugh I feel you! I ended up over an hour earlier than normal (Alec woke up, and then fell asleep thankfully) but it was one of those situations where I knew I’d be more tired if I fell back asleep. So an early bedtime for me (but probably not). 😅
I’m glad the video helped get things going for you! 💕
Haha! Now if only we would have listened in those situations. 🤣 I remember my mom having this tiny wallet with a ton of color swatches and I also remember thinking how weird that was. I’m wondering now that I look at soft autumn if that may be what I am, but it’s some of those shades of green that have me questioning it. Ugh. I think I need to just look at every picture taken of me ever and see what I look good in and what I don’t. 😵💫
That sweater is from target. It’s universal thread and I find it on Mercari, posh mark and thredUP. All the time. It’s held up so well. I just love it. 😅
Jk.. I just looked at soft autumn pallets for the last 30 minutes (there’s so many variations) and I did eventually start seeing the greens that look good on me. Yay! Going to bed now. 🤪
Your capsule wardrobe videos are always a good time! Do you think the black and green booties could be dyed?
They’re made from recycled plastic bottles so I don’t think that’s something I’d want to attempt. I suppose I could try coloring the green with a sharpie. 😅 Just kidding that’s a terrible idea. 🤣 My current thought is to sell them and buy something more neutral.
Cute.
😊
I’ve read and think it’s pretty accurate is this do you have silver jewelry or gold. The first is cool and the second warm. Pretty basic but helpful
I think I’m neutral. Which is an answer. 😅 But not as specific as I imagined haha. Thank you for watching. 😊💕
I really like those sweaters on you, (the style you said you like). What about a pair of baggy, pleated pair of pants for the rose colored sweater/dress nicer days?
I see what you’re saying and I like the idea. 😍 I just need to be a few inches taller. 😅😭
Almost positive you are a soft autumn!
I was thinking she is soft summer/soft autumn. It's possible to be both if the skin undertone is cool-neutral. I have a cool olive undertone and I can do both but prefer the soft summer palette . It's all about the contrast too I think. Aubrey seems medium contrast. (Don't pay attention to my profile picture - I was going through a black hair phase which completely threw my coloring off. Now a medium ash brown - similar to what I was born with!)
I love that you all are figuring this out for me. It’s so confusing and I’m determined to solve this mystery on a budget. 🤪 I have olive undertones that now after all this I can’t say if I’m warm, cool or neutral (probably neutral). I feel even more lost now, but progressing to the ultimate destination I suppose. 😅 I had warm highlights in my hair it looked absolutely terrible. When it was changed to cool that was the obvious winner. Does that mean I’m cool or warm? Is it one of those opposites attract kind of situations or not? 😵💫 I appreciate you all. 💕
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns I don't think you're absolutely warm toned - especially if the warm highlights didn't suit you. If your skin tone is neutral you can borrow from cool and warm palettes. (As long as the color isn't too saturated/deep.) It confused me for years but I feel so much happier with my clothes and makeup since I figured it out. One way I was convinced I was cool-neutral is by going to Sephora/Ulta and swatching foundation shades on my inner arm. (From the same brand/range.) Everything with a "W" in its shade number looked yellow against my skin. In summer I tend to wear neutral shades, switching to lighter and cooler shades when my "tan" (sayeth the vampire) is faded 😁
I would recommend you check out Colour Analysis Studio. They have a video called "Colour Analysis Session: Winter or Summer" and spoiler, the client is a cool summer. The ladies on that channel are fabulous and explain concepts so clearly. I bet it would help you start to understand the color theory needed to answer many of the questions you had. Unfortunately i don't feel i can make good recommendations for you based on the lighting and makeup. But at the end of the day, YOUR opinion matters most. ❤
I will say that if ever you are confused about a specifc color and you had a few colors you are more confident are in your palette. Look at them all together and decide if they are telling the same story. I found that i had small groupings of outliers (I'm a cool winter) that had their own color story. An unfortunately large chunck of soft summer clothes, a small chunk of light summer clothes and a handful of dark winter clothes. Grouping these together helped me see how they belonged to each other and were in fact out of my particular subseason. Whereas before, i was questioning if this one pink top was maybe winter cool. Nope. Clearly summer cool and did not mix and match easily with my other winter cool colors.
Big ramble. Hope that helps. I'm obsessed with color analysis.
A very helpful ramble! Thank you for the channel suggestion and tips. I think both will be really helpful. 😊💕
All the sweaters are beautiful! But the black/gray one - does wash you out. Can you link this amazing sweater if it's still around?
I got it at Target in 2019, but just recently added the black/gray and a purple one to my collection from ThredUP. I’ve also seen them on Mercari and PoshMark a lot. I love it so much and can’t believe how well they’ve held up!
You could dye your stained green sweatshirt if you want to keep wearing it not for yard work. Ive had really good luck dying away stains
That’s a good idea! I will now spend the next 20-30 minutes trying to find the perfect shade of green. 😅
You really seem more like a soft autumn to me. I'm a soft autumn. It's not that I'm cool. I'm neutral leaning warm
I’m kind of wondering the same thing, it’s just some of the greens in the soft autumn make me question it. My current idea is to look at every picture of me ever taken and figure out what looks best on me and start there. 😅
I just spent the last 30 min or so looking at soft warm pallets (there’s so many variations) and I did
start seeing more of the the greens that look good on me. 🎉🎉🎉
Apparently seasonal color theory has become more of a thing since I last checked. You’re right they’re all over the place for colors. But this is the kind of soft autumn I mean! Good luck!!
I love your cream cardigan where is it from?
Old Navy! I got that one during the spring, but I think they still have it. Maybe not in the cream, but the fit has been a favorite. 👌🏻
Hi, I'm bringing a news - seasonal color analysis doesn't include you ;) You have traits from diffrent "seasons" that makes you neutral in most aspects. You look beautifull in mid intensity neutral tones, in off white and dark navy rather than b&w. Orsa makes, here on you tube and on Instagram, has simmilar "vibe" and great sense of style if you look for long term inspiration for eventual future purchases. She looks especialy spectacular with her signature light brown deep blue combo - the mixture of cool and warm.
By neutral I mean not too warm not too cool, not to muted not to saturated for most of the colours - I'm your opposite (warm skin, all the rest cool) and I look good in warm shades of cool colours (blue and pink), some desaturated versions of orange and greens from almost all "seasons". So no easy formula for me either ;) Good luck in finding your balance in this quest!
I just looked up Orsa makes and now I have a severe urge to take up knitting.😍 Anyway, I think you’re onto something because I really don’t feel like I fall into one specific season or subcategory of a season. I think soft autumn or soft summer may be where I’d end up if I HAD to choose, but I kind of feel all over the place because I don’t seem to meet any specific criteria. 🤷🏻♀️ Oh well. 😅
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns there's no better season to start knitting than fall. If I could give you one advice it would be to learn continental style of knitting because it is better for joints and muscles in the long term and is better suited for colorwork projects. I would love to see some knitting content mixed with simplification of live because overconsumption is a big downside of influencers in this community. And the biggest pro- if you make a garment out of a nice wooly yarn you dont need to wash it. At least I don't 😉
❤❤❤
Thanks for watching! 😁💕
I find it heartbreaking that the colours thing has come back again. People get so serious about getting their clothes to conform to their supposed season. I hope for a time when people wear the colours they love, regardless of what a very dubious and discredited system tells them.
I totally get what you’re saying, and once upon a time I thought it was a load of crap. 😅 I don’t think it so much conforming to a specific season. More finding the colors that actually complement someone. At least for me, that’s what I’m going for. At this point in my life I want to wear colors that I like, but I want I also like what I look like in them. I can like a color, but turn around and hate the it because of how it makes me look. Trust me, I won’t wear any color I don’t actually like. I just don’t want to put on a sweater and look like I just ran a mile or look like I haven’t slept in a week. 🤣 This system is pointing me in the right direction without buying a bunch of stuff I’ll end up returning or donating. Like all the orange I love, but look overheated in lol. 🥵😂
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns this is what concerns me - that people are so concerned about how they look in a colour, rather than whether they like looking at it.
@@JehanineMelmoth I had to come back and re-do my comment because you really got my wheels turning over the last hour. 😄 I had said I think we can enjoy colors that don't necessarily compliment us in other aspects of life, interior design, outdoors etc. (I'll probably never feel comfortable wearing most of the colors of the flowers I grow haha) But... I see more of what you're saying. This color thing really does add a weird complexity that almost takes away from the joy and creativity of getting dressed. And I appreciate your comment because while I'm interested in color theory and how colors react with one another, like you said... I don't want to become so fixated on looking good in a color that I lose all sight of colors that I do like, even if it's incorporating in a different way. I almost wish I never noticed how color impacts my coloring, but here we are. 😅😅I'll just have to find the balance. Thank you for your comment and food for thought. 💕😊
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns many thanks for your considered and thoughtful response.
@@SimplifyingTheSatherns For me, I feel better in colors that work with my skin tone. I think about it when I am purchasing clothes, or planning a garment to make. After that, I don't think about it. My kitchen and living room are decorated in colors I love looking at but make me look ill. Once you curate what you have in your closet to be something that looks good on you and you feel good in (presumably in part because you look good in it) you don't have to think about it anymore. You can put on anything in your closet and it will work. Unless you dye your hair a different season.... lol.
As far as the orangey red sweaters go, I would think in terms of contrast. They both appear to be warm colors through my screen, but the first has less contrast with your features than the second. This is where I really can't tell or struggle with the color stuff. I typically do well in winter colors and have been typed that way at least once. I've been typed as autumn twice. Either one definitely falls in the higher contrast category but leaves the undertone as ambiguous since those choices typically are based on colors Ive since found out are universal. Lol.... even though by every written description Ive read I should theoretically be low contrast. If I had to pick which looked better to my eye, I would say the first one as the second seems a little loud. I would see it, then you. But this is the first time I've seen your channel and it might not continue that way too. I saw an interesting classifier for the colors on Cornwall Pocket Farms channel this week. Do you suit cream or white better? If you look/feel better in white, you are likely one of the cool tone seasons, and if you suit cream you are likely better with the warm seasons color palettes. Then if you want to differentiate further, spring is low contrast, autumn is high contrast for the warm, and summer is low contrast and winter is high contrast for the cool side. Toss in some universal colors like teal, watermelon, and navy, and you can make it work even if you are on the line either way.
No to the grey.
I’m with you. It’s in my mental donation pile already. Thanks for watching! 💕😊
My personal opinion is this whole trend of "color analysis" is just yet another ploy to prey on people's insecurities. Do certain colors flatter us more? Sure, but I don't think that's to say that other colors are unflattering. I do think people have taken it too far - to the point their basing their whole wardrobe of these so called analysis and getting rid of items they actually do like just because it's not in their "color palette". I think it's a good idea to be wary that this is just another passing trend, and to be mindful of what items you do personally enjoy, regardless of their color. It can be quite exhausting to subscribe to that mindset and cause us to become hypercritical of ourselves.
I totally hear you. I can even agree that I think it can get taken too far and probably become consuming in a negative way. Could you imagine trying to go shopping for a sweater but not being able to leave with one because they were all outside of your season? Or constantly wearing clothes that are colors that you don’t actually like? 😭 The majority of the clothes I have aren’t even in my “season”. (Though I haven’t invested a ton of time/money into this venture.)
With that being said. For me personally, at this point in my life as a tired mom who doesn’t get to prioritize myself a lot. It can put a little bit of a damper on my confidence/mood etc. to put on a sweater or shirt that makes me look more tired than I am. Then I go throughout my day and every time I glance in the mirror I see this tired shell of a person I used to be. (I know it sounds totally dramatic.) 🤣 But if I can put on something that makes me look generally alive (without having to do my makeup in some strategic way) and not like I haven’t slept in the last 2 days or like I’ve just ran a mile, the alive shirt/sweater will probably be my first choice (assuming a actually like the color). I think/hope that paying attention to color analysis (but not too much) will help me make clothing choices that result in less returns and less clothes that end up donated or in the back of my closet. And that is my tale haha.
