The thing with curing the Dark King is an overflow glitch. Cure restores HP to a target as a percentage of maximum HP and 50 x 1.5 of the caster's magic stat. When you use it on the Dark King, the number goes too high for a 16 bit binary number to process. So it sort of wraps around and deals damage instead of curing - the cure overflowed into damage. The funny part is this only works with the hero (Furion in your game.) If you instead use cure on the Dark King with Phoebe, her magic stat is so high that the cure overflows once, and then overflows again. This restores all of the Dark King's HP.
The very first Boss in Demon Castle is very weak to your Dragon Claw... In fact, he is a ONE HIT WONDER... ONLY the CURE SPELL of the HERO actually damages the Dark King! Phoebe HEALS him with her Cure Spell!!! The highest amount of damage I dealt to him up to now was roughly 30000 in one hit...
@@DesperadoTheTexasScratcher Yes, I am aware of that. However it not always deals damage so you have to be careful when using it with her... I had it deal damage 2 times and the third time HEALING him...
BTW, I hope you don't mind. I linked this Video in the description of one of my FFMQ let's plays then the playlist to your FFMQ playlist in another episode. each Episode of my Let's Plays feature a link to someone's Video content about the game I am playing
Takahmasak i have seen 1 person expla8n the item glitch(inventory manipulation), but speed runners only seem to mention the stat glitch, but i havent seen anyone break down how or why it works.
@@nomiremus5829 If the partner stat glitch is the one I'm thinking of, it can benefit speed runners by improving a character in a few key ways for the situation. For instance, if you don't reload after Tristam swaps out for Kaeli for the Alive Forest events, she will keep Tristam's base stats, which improves her speed and strength stats. It will also give her some good resistances for the Giant Tree (like fire instead of water, as nothing uses water attacks in the Giant Tree, but Leeches use Fire attacks). Also, nobody but Tristam is naturally immune to OHKO moves like Doom Dance. Allowing Kaeli to keep that resistance is nice in the Giant Tree, since some enemies start using OHKO attacks at that point in the game. Those are the reasons I have noticed, anyway. I have never tried to speed run that game. As for why it happens, I speculate that it's because of an incremented variable in the game's code not being properly offset. Even when you start a new game, first Kaeli starts with final Phoebe's resistances and base stats (ups her attack a little and really ups her defense).
The companion stat glitch requires starting a new game right out of a completed Game New Game Kaeli has End game Phoebe stats if I understand it correctly. I think the glitch will carry through across a few characters. I dont understand fully how to do it or how it works
Gary Krogh Yep! Totally abusive. Not that the game is particularly challenging. Then again I can think of other Final Fantasy games with other such instakill strategies.
If you want a challenge with this game, why not try the randomizer? It is called *TERRIBLE SECRET* and gives you multiple options to randomize this game... Give it a try...^^
He got about 200xp. That definitly is not enough to jump a whole level. After getting the enemy xp it probably checks whether you have enough xp to level up, so he levels up. But the required xp for the next level won't be set right away, only when you go back to the world map. So when you get the xp from clearing the battle ground it will check again for the same amount of xp and you will level up a second time.

Looks like I don't have to explain after all! :)
But the cure glitch works for the first boss T-Rex, and he doesn’t have maximum HP does he?
Cure works for T-Rex too, and there’s an infinite seed glitch now 😊
The only one the exit doesn't work on is the ZuZu/Zub rematch. It DOES work on the other bosses. -Great Video!

actually it depends on the version. One version even has Phoebe’s cure spell do damage

All good.
Dark king is actually weak to cure. It’s one of those elemental weaknesses
Oh, well very well then. It just seemed like an extreme jump, thought I had looked over that but missed it I suppose. Thanks for pointing it out!
The cure spell trick is a glitch, its the first instance of the HP over flow glitch.
15,000 DAMAGE........THATS OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you done the Item Glitch or the Companion Stat Glitch?(I believe the Companion Stat glitch is a speed run essential)
If it's not in the video, you're sharing something new to me! I'm sure there's even more to add to the pile!

the dry bones red dragon can be 1 hit killed with the dragon claw attack. lol

2nd one the double lv up is no glitch you just get enough xp for 2 lv ups
