Hands down the best tech videos I've seen. I looked up your impact driver, that's a weapon!! And pretty dear if it's what I think. I'm buying a 100 series after owning a 60 series for 12 years, ready for some new challenges and your videos are inspiring. Keep up the awesome work
You're probably referring to the Matco impact. I'm actually planning to swap it for a Milwaukee. The Milwaukee has more oomph and is lighter (and cheaper)
Nice video, mate. This helped me a lot. You got lucky with your carrier bearing shims, I had to get custom ones made to get the correct backlash and pre-load. I think a lot of shops wouldn't spend the time to set these up correctly.
How much should a 4.88 rear gear on my 2001 land cruiser cost? I already have A.R.B front & rear lockers, but was driving the other day and my front diff blew. I Also just upgraded to 35" tires so figured a rear gear is needed anyhow.
Is this diff as weak as they claim? I understand the arb carrier will stouten things up, or swapping for the 4 pinion style. I hear a lot of horror stories of these shearing teeth after some wheelspin to traction scenarios. Also, this diff is a different one then the 8" clamshell diff used in the 2003 and up taco, 4 runner and 2005 and up fj cruiser? Those seem to be quite stout. Marlin crawler runs 40"s on their IFS taco with rcv shafts, I believe. Thanks for your input
I've heard of them breaking but haven't seen one break in person. Yes it is a different diff than the clamshell. Lockers should help strengthen the spiders, how much I don't know.
I haven't really seen ATRAC used a ton. From what I have seen it's been impressive. It all depends on your usage I think. For most folks I'd think ATRAC would be fine on it's own. Soupy deep mud or lots of rock crawling with tires lifting and I'd lean towards lockers.
I noticed that you set the backlash on value 0.008, but the Land Cruiser manual says that the backlash should be set between 0.013-0.018, so why did you set it like that?
Ok thank you, Because My center diff, is not engaging especially when I shift it to 2lo. I don’t know the problem? They said put a locker that will resolve the problem. What do you think should I do?
@@albertrosales6515 Does your center diff engage when you hit the button? Normally the truck will lock the center diff when you go into 4Lo but there is a bypass (7-Pin I think its called) that you can do to make the CDL and 4Lo be independent of each other. If your center diff locks with the button its possible that a previous owner has done the bypass.
I haven't yet had a call to adjust valves on a 4.7. I've spot checked a few while changing valve cover gaskets and they've been within spec. It's pretty much the same procedure as the 1fz engine I did a video on. th-cam.com/video/GpouBL0wSE4/w-d-xo.html
I think the ARBs are around 1000 dollars. I haven't priced them in awhile. There are also Harrop e-lockers and TJM air lockers. There may be more but those are the ones I've seen.
Awesome, you know the professional when you have the feeling that the each specific tool is coming to his hand smoothly.
an 80 locker switch in a 100, still thinking about that . well done
Well done ,always impressed when watching a tech working on deferentials

All ways amazing to watch your videos
Besides the locker itself, did you need any other new parts or did you reuse everything I.e. bearings, bolts, seals, ect
Never the less it is a very good tutorial, thank you.
Damn. You took that thing apart like a butcher breaking down a side of beef.
Awesome video that's for the upload!
@OTRAMM Ryan what sealer do you use on the cover and extension tube? Im about to do this job, just trying to get all the parts/supplies together.
Thanks for the video. How much different is the rear? Any good resources or differences for that? Appreciate the help and video.
I've done a few videos on the Toyota 9.5 diff for the rear
@@OTRAMM just found. Completely missed that. Thanks a ton. Amazing information. Very very appreciated you sharing your knowledge.

nice work mate, what brand is the bearing putter that's
very nice
Land crusers the number 1 best car in the world
They are indeed.
Hey there, did you reuse the ring gear bolts? not sure if these bolts are torque-to-yield. Thanks
Yep, reused them.
@@OTRAMM awesome, rear diff bolts are $3 per piece !
So has this 100 series had this front diff added to it ?
Yep

I shattered the teeth on my 2005 LC. Was stuck in snow, wheels were spinning fast I slammed on the brakes and KABOOM…….
Do you think the ATRAC is adequate, or are lockers just that much better?
I haven't really seen ATRAC used a ton. From what I have seen it's been impressive. It all depends on your usage I think. For most folks I'd think ATRAC would be fine on it's own. Soupy deep mud or lots of rock crawling with tires lifting and I'd lean towards lockers.

You must be looking at the metric versus imperial. 18 thou would be waaay to loose.
@@OTRAMM Oh, my bad. Thanks man
No worries😄
When you install a lockers for landcruiser 100 do the center differential actuator still be needed?
The center lock is a completely separate system. You still need it to have true 4 wheel drive.

Great video....can you rebuild my carrier? I have 1999 land cruiser with lock. Please let me know if I my ship my carrier to you.
We rebuild Toyota differentials all the time. I'd need to see it to do an accurate estimate though.
@@OTRAMM ok let me know details where to send etc
Shoot me an email to otramm@otramm.com
