I don't you keybord or mobi to request landing i use only ship monitors to do that. Corsair is reminding me of Star Wars. Me personaly i dont like drake they are nice in many ways but i dont like them. I prefer RSI.
Love the interior and the aesthetics for this ship. It would be cool if the webbed hammocks over each bed were a separate storage container, in addition to the lockers.
I was thinking the same thing although all storage in the game is solid boxes atm. I don’t think I like the exterior much I think the ship looks wonky but I get why people like it it just doesn’t look like it could fly.
This is one thing I've disliked about ship design so far. If you go on a real naval vessel there is as little wasted space in the design as possible, but in this game you have ships with tons of open space but then force the sleeping room(s) to be open dormitories (*cough* Starfarer). Better use of space would make them seem a lot more realistic, and this ship seems to accomplish that goal.

A little big for a solo ship my guy....Those are all manned turrets btw. This would be a great ship for a small crew, but solo? No, you might as well fly a cutlass or freelancer because you would be at a detriment otherwise.
@@Shanex250 Except you have 6 forward-facing, pilot controlled weapons plus the missiles. No other ship has that. Not even the Connie. It packs a SERIOUS punch. But given that it is only marginally more maneuverable on most axis than the Connie, it won't be super usable for much other than VHRT, ERT or Group ERT's if you are flying solo. I can do solo ERT's in the Connie and 600i. I guarantee I could do them in the Corsair. I literally did 2 of them this morning. You can work around maneuverability if you fly it the right way and stick to space combat. It's basically useless in atmo...
After checking it out in the PTU I'm really liking the aesthetics of it so far, and it can throw a staggering amount of damage out for its size. The landing gear could stand to have more clearance though - you've really got to be careful where you land in this bird.
It looks sick, cant wait for the full release! I just wish the landing gear was higher like in some concepts, i think landing on rough surfaces with this gear could be an issue + it would look better sitting higher off the ground.
Yeah this - my favourite new ship - just a pity about the really short landing gear - will be tricky to land on uneven surfaces, especially if you want to use the forward elevator (suppose it is done because of ramp)
Landing gear seems to be an issue on a couple of the newer ships they're coming out with. My favorite ship the C2 has a major tipping forward issue because of how far back it's front leg is.. hopefully they update it!
This ship strikes me as perfect for the star wars style bounty hunter / mercenary. Really reminds me a lot of the D5 mantis in SWTOR, just bulky and loaded with guns and kind of underworld themed.
I really love the round rocket engines and the grungy feel of drake ships! This ones especially with the lever actuated lift gives off such a retro feel!
It is honestly everything I had hoped for so I cannot wait to fly it, this with the Gen 12 and cargo refactor are gonna be game changers to my experience
The main reason I got this ship in concept was because the Asymmetric design reminded me a lot of the Twilight from the 2007 Clone Wars movie I watched as a kid, and the grungy Drake design is just the cherry on top. Love this thing so much!
Let's be honest here, those "special occasions" are gonna be "solo flying". It's a drake ship... You're getting 0 dates on a drake ship... Like.... C'man... You're not picking a date in a 80s Daewoo Tico.
I love it. Imagine having to long term stay on a ship with very roomy corridors and staircases everywhere while still sharing a room and double bunk bed with your crewmates.
We need an elevator like that on the MSR too, plenty of room for one in the section just behind the cockpit. I love them both for each of their special esthetic and use.
100%. I love my MSR but all those fucking doors and a pointless elevator from cockpit to ramp. It’s tiresome and means I use my vanguard warden a lot more.
@@GarthIvers I hope we get a slight redesign. Move the components into the forward section of the scan room for easy access. Make the both side rooms next to the ramp shielded storage. Move servers into the crawlspace and make some stairs from cargo into the hallway upstairs. Along with a elevator in the hallway behind cockpit, and I would for sure daily drive it.
@@lain2779 I don’t think it needs to be so comprehensive. I like the idea if the elevator being there. It separates the information work from the cargo work, but you wouldn’t bring clients in through the loading dock in a business now, so give them a more professional entrance to do business onboard. This can be solved by adding a front personnel elevator, and UX can be improved generally by adding door sensors and faster mechanisms. This fixes most of the issues.I do think making efficient use of space by moving the components is a good idea though.
Although I don't really like the asymmetric shapes of the Drake Corsair, the interior space is quite well organized. The engineering room looks great when lit up there. Access to the turrets is good especially how he gets to the front turret is quite interesting.
I gotta say I'm surprised how close to the ground it is, expected the landing gear to lift it a bit higher. Might be troublesome to land it on uneven terrain.
I´ve liked the simplicity and brute force that it presents in it´s design, what brings my attention the most is the fast access that the players will have to reach the cockpit(you´ll not have this in the Mercury). Sometimes timing is key to evade destruction.
I really like the Corsair. But I think the weapons being a bit further back on the hull would make the ship look nicer. It looks so front heavy, i guess its nice seeing the weapons from the cockpit.
I wonder how well this performs in ERTs. If this think can keep most of the larger ships in front of it reliably, whilst also being manoeuvrable enough to avoid a good amount of the incoming damage, this could easily become the bounty hunting ship of choice.
It is NOT maneuverable at all. Handles like a brick, especially in athmosphere. Smaller fighters are really putting it in grave danger. Best bet would be to go for ballistic weapons and use the freed up power for the shields.
It can shred Hammerheads. It has almost no maneuverability but it has the firepower to take out larger (npc) targets so fast it doesn't really matter. As far as PvP you'll likely run into trouble against a large variety of ships.
Love the way Drake design their ships, no wall covering components making it easy to manage or doing engineering once it become a thing. Good vids as always.
My dream ship is the a2. My biggest ship at the moment is the freelancer max. I also have a gladius and a hornet. My dad flew c-130s fire the airforce so the a2 is kind of like what he flew.

I agree. The current pudgy MSR was designed under pressure to please a certain whining part of the community with a large cargo section, knowing that the data running feature will be released much later. This led to unintended upscaled ship metrics. Otherwise, the ship would have been useless. So when data running comes, I also wish CIG will do a slim MSR variant as originally intended by keeping roughly the same upper rooms layout, without the cool but quite exaggerated underneath level of air vents maze. If I were a MSR owner, I would prefer : - Small smuggling compartments hidden under the floor (to keep the Millenium Falcon vibes). - A limited cargo bay to park at most one medium 4 wheels vehicle (like a STV/Cyclone or 2 bikes). - A well protected components room shifted in the middle of the ship, in the front of the cargo bay for instance. - Upper and lower turrets retractable in the hull to accomodate the thin design. Not to mention that this "original" MSR would be more affordable for specialized data runners.
Love the ship, it's one of the few I haven't bought in concept and I'm asking myself why didn't I? I just wish CIG would flesh out some "exploration" gameplay to support all these ships. CIG is really good at making general purpose ships, tagging them as "exploration" and then not being clear on what that really means. They hold other ships back, sighting that they are waiting for the gameplay to be there, exploration seems to be the only one they are okay with.
Exploration is one of the main things to do in the game right now 😅 You wont make any money but you can put a lot of time into flying around and looking at things. I think these ships will get a boost when Pyro is released. Without reststops at every corner these long range ships will have a huge advantage.
The Conni, MSR, 400i and now Corsair all fill a sweet spot on ship size and utility, all doing a similar thing in a similar way... be it an explorer, cargo runner or whatever, I'd love o see more manufacturers bringing their competition to the table to see how they do it. Argo, MISC, C.O, they sould all have a medium spec' ship for 3-5 crew ships that can do a variety of gamplay but each with their own unique spin on the class. Corsair sets an all new high water mark, though I think I'm keeping my 400i in the mean time.
Awesome interior details. Love the light and door switches in each room. Also the storage lockers in all crew quarters and the airlock is a great touch.
That interior reminds me why I used to like the Drake ships. And I really love the front elevator design choice, being more of a side entrance than below the ship, so then the hull can sit lower to the ground level.
Its a interesting addition to the multi-crew ship line up. Interesting to see how they balance all that pilot controlled fire power. It has a high level of polish for a new ship.
This ship will be refreshing. MSR is fast and fun in some aspects but has a huge set of problems. To get out of the pilot chair it's a long animation, then 4 doors, 1 elevator and a ramp door. Corsair it's quick animation out of bucket seat, two quick doors and an elevator that takes you out of the ship. Right next to the pilot chair. MSR has great potential to earn with cargo. Drake corsair also has potential but shorter in that department. I'd take corsair over MSR for daily driver. For now until they fix the MSR interior. Drake corsair has a better load out and better design then the Mercury Star Runner. Slower but packs a good punch.
This ship has it all. A nice big cargo bay for all my cargo, big engines to catch people trying to swindle me by not giving me my cargo, and big guns to make sure they won’t win if they fight back. There are lots of con artists trying to scam me out of what’s rightfully mine, I’m happy to finally have a ship with both the firepower and cargo space to take and keep what’s mine.
I liked the little defroster/dash fan in the Cutlass; I used to have an old pick up that had one. Then it was gone, but they have it on this ship? Cool
It's not that I dislike the broadsides-mounted turrets...it's just that they scream "PROPER PIRATE SHIP" i.e. meant to run with 2-3x full crew so you can have plenty of mates to board another ship!! And I REALLY like the asymmetry of the design, and wish that was the default for Drake ships. Very Star Wars Old Republic style.
My favorite thing about this ship so far, is the asymmetry. I love the Star Runner and one of the things I like about it... it's asymmetrical... Like the Millennium Falcon!!!! Great stuff!
Had the Corsair on pledge since 2018, glad it's finally here! Only thing I'd change is I'd love to have some side windows in the cabins, mess hall, or both. Especially for a multi-crew exploration/expedition ship, it's important to have windows for the other crew to experience the surroundings.
it was so dark inside, I had to turn up my brightness and gamma... :D it looks nicely built, CGI really improved their building ship skils the last couple years!
A great looking ship, but I do wonder if sitting so close to the ground might be a problem for an explorer. It's going to need a very flat area to land.
100% feels like a upscaled buccaneer totally fits a drake fleet perfectly. I know some people said its the Conni killer idk about that but its nice for sure.
Cool ship. I'd be interested to see how it handles in battle with a full crew. Sometimes turrets that don't face full forward or rear can be frustrating.
Very neat ship. Its unique silhouette definitely makes it stand out among other ships of similar size. I'm still more partial to RSI ship design, but this thing is pretty nice.
This thing is giving me The Matrix vibes. I don't hate it. I prefer ships with a more clean futuristic feel over the dystopian aesthetic but it is a nice ship.
Really like how they made use of the interrior space - small and compact as I would expect, but dynamic flow - constellations are just a bit too much a tube. Actually like how low it sits too.
People were speculating the Corsair was a competitor to the Carrack. I don't think so. It seems to fit right in the sweet spot to compete with the Constellation. I do agree that the layout of the ship is VERY well done. THIS is how ship layout should be done - no volume wasted, which is how spaceships ought to be. Glad CIG is learning!
that 'cold war Soviet helicopter' look to all the Drake hardware is pretty impressive.....this thing feels like a Ilyushin cargo plane in space which...you know... is neat.
My goodness, the Drake Corsair is definitely one of my favorite ships now. Everything about it is just so surprisingly appealing to me seeing that im not a massive fan of most of the other drake ships.
Thoughts. (sorry, im going to pick it apart to balance out everyone creaming their pants over it) 1. Sits way to low to the ground in the hanger. Means where it can land on planets is limited.. which is... a gross oversight for an EXPLORER vessel. 2. Airlock directly into the Engineering room. Yeah, that isnt a security risk or anything. But i suppose having the cargo bay right behind it isnt much better. 3. Docking port (from an exterior) is in a bad place. Way too close to the wing which will make it difficult to dock with another ship without colliding into it. Unless they cheat it by extending it out.. ALOT. which would look stupid and (where is that extension hiding on the ship?) 4. The size, now apparent, competes with the Constellation, NOT The Carrack like everyone thought. (which you mentioned) 5. I still don't like the wings. They make no sense, and im sorry, but i like the ship designs to make *some* sense. To have *some* logic to them. From a mechanical perspective, it adds alot of unnecessarily complexity and maintenance. Something the military HATES in their vehicle designs. But i guess Drake isnt exactly a military contractor. Which is funny because everything else about them feels military (simple, no frills piratical). Its just the wings completely throw it off. 6. "Great looking ship" eeeh. Its ok.. Other than the wings i dont hate it, its hella alot more practical than the MSR (which i do hate). Much better use of its space, not adding bulk just for the sake of "looks" (except the wings). Hell, get rid of the larger wing and put two more smaller wings on it Just for weapon hardpoints, that would make far more sense. 7. The Co-Pilot chair is another 'unnecessarily complex' feature. Adds more time than i think it should just to get in and out of it and (i hope) if the power goes out, you're stuck. I still think i prefer the Connie Aq over this. The connie (even in its current state) still feels like it doesnt have bullshit tacked on just to look pretty. Everything feels like it has a purpose, which i like in my ships because it doesnt add weight. And all the other ships BETTER be heavier because of their extra bulk, otherwise that would be so immersion breaking.
The interior is defiantely Drake. I'm underwhelmed with the exterior however. Doesn't seem to have nearly the level of greeble that alot of other ships do. The hull is very smooth and wedge shaped with some odd angles around the back. I also expected the hull to be taller. It looks very narrow. I'm not super sold on the looks but Drake always has been somewhat polarizing.

Corsair is grand, CIG have nailed the Drake aesthetic. Pretty roomy, with a great cargo space.
Everything is exposed for easy repair, whether it's duct tape or WD-40.

I tried the corsair in ptu. Really love it, it got cool mechanic and can fit 4 size 5 and 2 size 4 weapon

What I'd love to see is an alien ship of this size/category.
As a huge fan of Banu design I think this would be amazing!

The weapon configuration on the Corsair make it look like a jagged knife. That's pretty wicked.
Love the Corsair and the MSR. I just really wish they make a mini MSR. More manageable for a crew of 2 but same body design.

I agree. The current pudgy MSR was designed under pressure to please a certain whining part of the community with a large cargo section, knowing that the data running feature will be released much later. This led to unintended upscaled ship metrics. Otherwise, the ship would have been useless.
So when data running comes, I also wish CIG will do a slim MSR variant as originally intended by keeping roughly the same upper rooms layout, without the cool but quite exaggerated underneath level of air vents maze.
If I were a MSR owner, I would prefer :
- Small smuggling compartments hidden under the floor (to keep the Millenium Falcon vibes).
- A limited cargo bay to park at most one medium 4 wheels vehicle (like a STV/Cyclone or 2 bikes).
- A well protected components room shifted in the middle of the ship, in the front of the cargo bay for instance.
- Upper and lower turrets retractable in the hull to accomodate the thin design.
Not to mention that this "original" MSR would be more affordable for specialized data runners.
Love the ship, it's one of the few I haven't bought in concept and I'm asking myself why didn't I? I just wish CIG would flesh out some "exploration" gameplay to support all these ships. CIG is really good at making general purpose ships, tagging them as "exploration" and then not being clear on what that really means. They hold other ships back, sighting that they are waiting for the gameplay to be there, exploration seems to be the only one they are okay with.
Exploration is one of the main things to do in the game right now 😅 You wont make any money but you can put a lot of time into flying around and looking at things. I think these ships will get a boost when Pyro is released. Without reststops at every corner these long range ships will have a huge advantage.
The Conni, MSR, 400i and now Corsair all fill a sweet spot on ship size and utility, all doing a similar thing in a similar way... be it an explorer, cargo runner or whatever, I'd love o see more manufacturers bringing their competition to the table to see how they do it. Argo, MISC, C.O, they sould all have a medium spec' ship for 3-5 crew ships that can do a variety of gamplay but each with their own unique spin on the class. Corsair sets an all new high water mark, though I think I'm keeping my 400i in the mean time.
Awesome interior details. Love the light and door switches in each room. Also the storage lockers in all crew quarters and the airlock is a great touch.
Gotta say, this ship is probably the most exciting new ship I've seen. I'm wondering how it'll fly solo once released

That interior reminds me why I used to like the Drake ships.
And I really love the front elevator design choice, being more of a side entrance than below the ship, so then the hull can sit lower to the ground level.
Its a interesting addition to the multi-crew ship line up. Interesting to see how they balance all that pilot controlled fire power. It has a high level of polish for a new ship.
Great to finally see the Corsair in game. I will definitely be checking mine out when the event comes out.
This ship will be refreshing. MSR is fast and fun in some aspects but has a huge set of problems. To get out of the pilot chair it's a long animation, then 4 doors, 1 elevator and a ramp door.
Corsair it's quick animation out of bucket seat, two quick doors and an elevator that takes you out of the ship. Right next to the pilot chair.
MSR has great potential to earn with cargo.
Drake corsair also has potential but shorter in that department.
I'd take corsair over MSR for daily driver. For now until they fix the MSR interior. Drake corsair has a better load out and better design then the Mercury Star Runner. Slower but packs a good punch.
I think I've had the concept pledge for like 3 years, so happy to finally have the ship, I love it

This ship has it all. A nice big cargo bay for all my cargo, big engines to catch people trying to swindle me by not giving me my cargo, and big guns to make sure they won’t win if they fight back.
There are lots of con artists trying to scam me out of what’s rightfully mine, I’m happy to finally have a ship with both the firepower and cargo space to take and keep what’s mine.
I liked the little defroster/dash fan in the Cutlass; I used to have an old pick up that had one. Then it was gone, but they have it on this ship? Cool
The second you used the elevator to go to the roof this became my favorite ship.
The nice thing is the turrets will be able to hit larger ships when forward facing. It’s fair that they don’t go all the way to the nose.
CIG could add the moving panel to the Carrack and allow its front lift to go to the ground.
It's not that I dislike the broadsides-mounted turrets...it's just that they scream "PROPER PIRATE SHIP" i.e. meant to run with 2-3x full crew so you can have plenty of mates to board another ship!!
And I REALLY like the asymmetry of the design, and wish that was the default for Drake ships. Very Star Wars Old Republic style.
Really excited to see the Corsair tomorrow. My son's already got it. And a friend that we fly with regularly is upgrading his main ship to it, too.
My favorite thing about this ship so far, is the asymmetry. I love the Star Runner and one of the things I like about it... it's asymmetrical... Like the Millennium Falcon!!!! Great stuff!
I like the design! I dont think its fully for me but it opens the door to more variety which isnt bad!
It is a gorgeous ship. It kind of reminds me of one of the runners up from the Next Great Starship competition that gave us the redeemer.

Had the Corsair on pledge since 2018, glad it's finally here! Only thing I'd change is I'd love to have some side windows in the cabins, mess hall, or both. Especially for a multi-crew exploration/expedition ship, it's important to have windows for the other crew to experience the surroundings.
Corsair is looking good, cant wait to check it out in detail.

A great looking ship, but I do wonder if sitting so close to the ground might be a problem for an explorer. It's going to need a very flat area to land.
100% feels like a upscaled buccaneer totally fits a drake fleet perfectly. I know some people said its the Conni killer idk about that but its nice for sure.
Cool ship. I'd be interested to see how it handles in battle with a full crew. Sometimes turrets that don't face full forward or rear can be frustrating.

Very neat ship. Its unique silhouette definitely makes it stand out among other ships of similar size. I'm still more partial to RSI ship design, but this thing is pretty nice.
This thing is giving me The Matrix vibes. I don't hate it. I prefer ships with a more clean futuristic feel over the dystopian aesthetic but it is a nice ship.
Had a chance to play with it and I do like it very much. Would I like a bit more posh or quality… of course!!! But its a great little ship
Really like how they made use of the interrior space - small and compact as I would expect, but dynamic flow - constellations are just a bit too much a tube. Actually like how low it sits too.

I like this better than the MSR for one reason. I have an elevator to get to the bridge WAY quicker.
People were speculating the Corsair was a competitor to the Carrack. I don't think so. It seems to fit right in the sweet spot to compete with the Constellation. I do agree that the layout of the ship is VERY well done. THIS is how ship layout should be done - no volume wasted, which is how spaceships ought to be. Glad CIG is learning!
You should check out the airlock. There is a vent lever on the inside!!
that 'cold war Soviet helicopter' look to all the Drake hardware is pretty impressive.....this thing feels like a Ilyushin cargo plane in space which...you know... is neat.

My goodness, the Drake Corsair is definitely one of my favorite ships now. Everything about it is just so surprisingly appealing to me seeing that im not a massive fan of most of the other drake ships.
Corsair has been my favorite since I saw it. So happy it is finally here
Thoughts. (sorry, im going to pick it apart to balance out everyone creaming their pants over it)
1. Sits way to low to the ground in the hanger. Means where it can land on planets is limited.. which is... a gross oversight for an EXPLORER vessel.
2. Airlock directly into the Engineering room. Yeah, that isnt a security risk or anything. But i suppose having the cargo bay right behind it isnt much better.
3. Docking port (from an exterior) is in a bad place. Way too close to the wing which will make it difficult to dock with another ship without colliding into it. Unless they cheat it by extending it out.. ALOT. which would look stupid and (where is that extension hiding on the ship?)
4. The size, now apparent, competes with the Constellation, NOT The Carrack like everyone thought. (which you mentioned)
5. I still don't like the wings. They make no sense, and im sorry, but i like the ship designs to make *some* sense. To have *some* logic to them. From a mechanical perspective, it adds alot of unnecessarily complexity and maintenance. Something the military HATES in their vehicle designs. But i guess Drake isnt exactly a military contractor. Which is funny because everything else about them feels military (simple, no frills piratical). Its just the wings completely throw it off.
6. "Great looking ship" eeeh. Its ok.. Other than the wings i dont hate it, its hella alot more practical than the MSR (which i do hate). Much better use of its space, not adding bulk just for the sake of "looks" (except the wings). Hell, get rid of the larger wing and put two more smaller wings on it Just for weapon hardpoints, that would make far more sense.
7. The Co-Pilot chair is another 'unnecessarily complex' feature. Adds more time than i think it should just to get in and out of it and (i hope) if the power goes out, you're stuck.
I still think i prefer the Connie Aq over this. The connie (even in its current state) still feels like it doesnt have bullshit tacked on just to look pretty. Everything feels like it has a purpose, which i like in my ships because it doesnt add weight. And all the other ships BETTER be heavier because of their extra bulk, otherwise that would be so immersion breaking.
It's what they used to call a 'commerce raider.' Small crew, long range, heavily armed, can loot some valuables.
One problem I saw was that the rear turret is blocked by the upper little wing. Has a very restricted view on that side.

The interior is defiantely Drake. I'm underwhelmed with the exterior however. Doesn't seem to have nearly the level of greeble that alot of other ships do. The hull is very smooth and wedge shaped with some odd angles around the back. I also expected the hull to be taller. It looks very narrow. I'm not super sold on the looks but Drake always has been somewhat polarizing.

Something that would be great for your videos when showing new ships is a mini-map of your location within the ship
