Earnhardt Sr. was going to retire and race Corvettes at LeMans. He said it was the greatest race car he ever drove. Could you imagine Sr. racing at LeMans? I would have loved it.
I absolutely love how since his retirement he enjoys tell stories about his father. I may be out of line here but he definitely speaks more about his father almost as if Hendrick did not want him acknowledging his father.
Doubt that. If anything, NBC producers are talking to Dale and they say, "We should do a short documentary on that. The fans would love it." When you're a driver, you're focused on driving. When you're a TV talent, you're focused on talking and you always gotta find something to talk about.
very very cool video. love that IMSA is starting to connect back with the rest of Motorsport. American sports car racing deserves so much more attention than it gets
Dale Jr and Tony Stewart ran the 2004 24 hour race and had the thing won. Until in the last stint with 20 minutes remaining the rear axle broke with Stewart
Dale, I was a young kid when I first went through the tunnel to Daytona in 85ish..I can smell it to this day. A bit intimidating. Really enjoy your insight into the 24 hour race and your passion for racing.
Remember watching parts of this race and today was wondering what happened to this car. I'm glad to see that it is in Jr's possession where it belongs!!
I think Dale Earnhardt Sr. said he wanted to try Le Mans. I would have loved to see him take on the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Still great for what Dale Sr. has accomplished, including the 24 Hours of Daytona.
Thanks for the video. I barely remember that race , but I remember speedvision covered it all. I really enjoy the IMSA series , but the announcers really like talking to one another.
Wow , I didn’t know they did this race together. I wonder if Jr would ever consider doing it again. Maybe be part of a team with Jeff Gordon and other drivers . It’s a great race that I’ve always felt deserves more attention. Maybe next year the Corvette team will have two or three mid engine Corvettes to race and he could be part of one of those teams.
@@jimabbad9663I can see JR Motorsports fielding C8.R GT3s in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship or SRO GT World Challenge America if Jr was interested in doing so. Too bad the Camaro is going away, otherwise fielding that in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, IMSA VP Sportscar Challenge or STO GT4 America would be a cheaper option.
This sounds horrible to say but. After years of seeing Dale Sr and Dale Jr. I wldnt be surprised if Sr. Wasnt really his father. they look Nothing alike

So awesome to see the Earnhardts race together before Dale's untimely death. What a special father son moment.

Dale Jr "...we're gonna come back next year..."
Oh dear... That's depressing
isn't it tho
Would have loved to see him race LeMans or the rolex24 again. Forever Fan Of The Man #3
Dale had said that Le Mans was something he intended to do. I gotta think the French would have slowly but surely embraced him.
Dale Earnhardt you're the Greatest!

Joe Acampora totally agree 😊
Man Jr, your dad was an American hero. And he is so proud of you. Wherever he is.
That car is absolutely beautiful!
That's so cool
Touching!!!!!! Seeing Sr in there was so EPIC.
RIP BUDDY

Nope. They were lying in second place when that happened.

Dale sr could have molded jr in to such a great driver...
I agree. I always said, if Sr didn't die.. Jr would have won a Championship and DEI would be thriving. Life can turn on a dime.
I enjoyed watching them race the IROC series together
They were fast no matter what they drove means they’re skills transferred. That was always pretty cool to know.

Highly unlikely. Jr suffered major burns in a practice crash in a c5r in 2004. He hasnt done any racing outside of the nascar world since.

Back when the corvette race team was a newborn. They have come so far.
This providers fact that he was... Missing you big grin😩
I wonder what he what his reaction would have been to the 24 Hours of Nurburgring.
😢
RIP sr
Wanna be freinds?
I think I'm the first viewer

They look alike to me, but i have thought that too
thats cause he took after ralph
Idiot
Darwin Carey He might look more like his mom than dad. That happens
Dale Jr looks more like his Grandpa Ralph then Sr. But he does have the Earnhardt look and smile.
