I realize this is an older video. But, why is this pedal not getting the proper attention. It sounds fantastic and has extremely good clarity without changing the amps original character. What a great addition to any pedalboard.
I think that this pedal is fixing to gain some serious popularity. It's got some killer wide range tone ,making it very versatile. The hunt is on.
That pedal holder 👊👊💪🕺🕺
Was thinking the same thing. I need a board that looks like that
Good to see u tonight Pete from all us guitar junkies out here in space tonight. Thank you for the inspiration
I picked up one of these a few months ago and just messed around with it last night...WOW! I was so surprised and it is definitely a favorite.
Got mine from sinvertek. It only takes 1 week. Just email them and they will respond quickly and yes pete is right that this pedal nailed the amp sound. 1 of the best pedal and im thankful for having it. Thanks pete and sinvertek. Rock and roll! 😉
Got one, now I have this v2, and the N5+ [v3], and the N5+GOLD [v4]. All sound fantastic
All of Pete's demos are amazing. You could make an album with just a compilation of just these. Great talent.
Quick follow up. Mine just came in. Quick delivery and easy tracking. Just plugged it in. Sounds more like an amp than any pedal I have heard. You have a ton of options to voice perfectly for your clean amp. Comes in a cool drawstring sack! Size of an mxr...price is more than worth it.
I can never tell the difference between a demo and a fully produced/mixed song of yours @Pete Thorn. Bravo.
A cast vice on a glass table. One of the most rock n roll things I've ever seen.
Yup, that sounds great! There's just no mess in the midrange, definition in the bass, and no harshness in the high end. The tone, playing, and the opening sliding double-stop melodic figure sound a little Vai-like to me!
Really blown away by the sound in this pedal. Wow. Your Thornbuckers sound so warm and smooth. May have to seek one out and give it a go. Awesome demo!!
I am really loving the high end scream this OD pedal gets!
Always have been a fan of that scream! :)
I bought this for gigs I don't have my amp with me and it does the job perfect. Highly recommend it
The first version was one of my favorites back when I was running a clean platform amp.
Holy.... that thing gets just brutal. In a good way, of course. I like the 3 way switch... very handy feature.
And of course, the great playing we've come to expect from you, Pete.
Another fine demo, and spectacular playing as usual Pete🎂
Also - incredibly reasonably priced for all those features!
Awesome stuff.
That pedal sounds deadly and fantastic playing Pete!
Oh my fucking god Pete!!! The black signature!!! What a beauty
You really are one of the all time gear review/demo greats, Pete. Amazing musician...I wanna be like you when I grow up. 😁
I'm all grown up and still want to sound like Pete😂
It's a really cool pedal. I wanted to pick your brain about overdrive vs distortion pedals. I started with Distortion pedals and after a few years moved away from them completely and stayed with overdrives . I tend to play heavy stuff yet still prefer the overdrive. Lately I've been gain stacking with my Zakk Wylde overdrive and the Ibanez Nu-tube screamer and it's...wow a different sound. Very detailed almost 3D as far as depth and over all sound.
Great video's keep'em coming!
Great overdrive and great use of a hobby vice. I never thought about that, what an innovator!!!
Seems like a no-brainer for single channel amp players! This pedal becomes your second channel.
Just got this pedal. It’s great.
I just bought the n5 in the limited edition version and I am so excited, just waiting for it to get in the mail
Got that one a couple months ago. It's awesome!!
@@nickm.9474 yeah I love it, love the aluminum knobs and everything
It sounds huge and so powerful
@@FernandoSanchez-yq4jo how noisy is this pedal? I might get one but Im not sure yet xD
You could release an album of your gear demo tracks. They are always amazing.
Intro was Rad Dude!! Sounds awesome!! Looks like a great Box!!
I love the pedals that have good sound and that type of eq response..
Pete, your stuff is so darn good bro... I want to hear you play on a bad day! We need to find you a singer who is cool with not being the traditional front man of the band and let you take the center. Singers always fk up the vibe in a band!
☑️ Down to earth
☑️ Amazing personality
☑️ Makes singers cry with a 🎸
☑️ Natural Ability
Wow! That IS pretty impressive, and you're spot-on regarding how close it comes to your PT's high gain channel. Now I HAVE to go watch some other demos to hear if it's the same with different amps because if I didn't already know that it wasn't, I would have thought it actually was a PT-100 in a box.
I've never been a fan of "distortion"pedals. Personally what I'm looking for in a pedal I find in overdrives, and to a lesser degree Fuzz (even then it's usually a Fuzz with the gain relatively low and stacked with either an EQ pedal or OD/clean boost.
I can't remember any straight up "distortion-pedals" that I've kept for any length of time, some I'd hold onto for a few months, but even those were rarely used. I play a few different guitars but my "root note" guitars are Strats, regardless of whatever electrics I may have at any point in time, there will always be a Strat. For the longest time, the relatively few times I play with high gain I got from stacking a vintage style Big Muff (I've used Ram's heads, but prefer the triangle circuit) with either an MXR M109 10 band or Source Audio EQ pedals, or midrangy OD like a TS808, Klon clone or Zendrive. Started using them for a late 70s David Gilmore lead tone (Muff into EQ/OD, or for a more traditional Marshall stack type ( EQ/OD into Muff).
This thing actually sounds like something I'd want to keep. Kind of reminds me of a Hermida distortion I had 10 years ago. That was till now, the most transparent distortion pedal I heard. It was considerably more transparent than the Zendrive or Mosferstu. It was more of A MUCH higher gain Timmy, matter if fact I used it as a clean boost for a long time and it was able to do that and the guitar and amp sounded the same without it but with high gain. If this does as well with Marshall and Fender as it did with your PT, I guess I'm going to be on a hunt if it's as hard to find as you said.
Now I want a distortion pedal, and I don't even need a distortion pedal. Such a good salesman.
I thought I heard some Kings X tones coming out of that box! Very nice demo, as usual!
Great sounding pedal!
**WOOOHOOOOO!!!!** What a major treat for all of us 'mere mortals' this Friday night...thank you so much, Pete... **YOU TOTALLY ROCK!!!!** (I'm not sure if I ever mentioned that to you before...hehehe!!!) 💗💗💗
What the difference between the old No 5?
Great demo as usual Pete! I watched this last week and ordered it right away. Just received mine today! : ) Thanks for the continued inspiration man! You are amazing!!!
To my ear it kinda nails that "Groomed Noodler" tone, with a boost option. Nice demo. I have one coming!
great demo - great playing !
One of the best distortions I have ever played and modestly priced too. Talk about proper amped sound pedal, this is it! There's a demo on thatpedalshow where Simon McBride demo's it. Mick and Dan's reaction sums it up!
Now, that sounds AWESOME!!!!!!!
Great review as always Pete,
You're one of the best on TH-cam.
hey Pete! nice video as always 👏👏
everything sounds good in pete's hands
Damn good sounding pedal.
I like that!!! That's my type of overdrive/distortion.
Great demo, Pedal sounds excellent. Your solo was fantastic! Time and phrasing on point Mr Thorn :-)
Great tone and playin Pete!
as usual , nice playing , once again. the sound is great.
Sounds so natural, very much like EVH on the first album, Marshall SL wide freakin' open! But with even more clarity and definition. Sounds fantastic as is, but I bet it would sound downright insane with a slightly "hotter " pickup a JB or Tone Zone perhaps. I want one of these....
Sounds Great !!!
Killer tone pedal
Found one on Reverb a few months ago. It's really good. And it's the limited edition one.
holy shit..... ty pete 🤘
Really killer sounds Pete thorn great effect great review.
What a great sounding pedal!!! totally sounds like the pt100
MSRP of $149? Wow. I was expecting more in the $199-$225 range. Pleasant surprise.
My next distortion pedal! Was going to go Wampler or Friedman, but this sounds the best to my ears.
Slammin playin
Everyday I say I am not going to watch anymore pedal demos, The I think well I give it a few seconds, and damn if Pete hasn’t done it to me again
Sounds great Pete, Awesome playing as usual, thank you, Cheers
Hey Pete great stuff as always but No. 5 drive is the old version, the new one you show here is just called Drive N5, arrrg I want one, sounds amazing, cheers.
This pedal looks pretty versatile. I wish it has a sag knob, though. It seems really tight.
Nice pedal-holding rig, Pete!
I just bought the only one I could find, which was on reverb of course, looking forward to trying it out, ot sounds identical to the green channel on my jvm head from what I can hear, apart from this, I cant find any other videos, and as they are hard to come by used I think I can sell it easy enough if it doesnt work for me,
Number 5 alive! 🤖
Hey Pete, is the pedal you demoed a prototype? I ask because as I look online the ones I see have different graphics although all the knobs and functions appear to be the same... I don't know if I am looking at a previous version or the new version...
I know you've done a demo with multiple pedals before but I think it would be cool if you did more like that. So maybe a great drive pedal as a "main od" and then a pedal you think stacks well with it before or after and why, and say another pedal that gets used as a mild drive for blue on the same board that works well on the same board. Why I say this is because in a cover group you could be doing pop songs to blues and hard rock, all from one pedal board so you need at least a mild nice clean(with slight transparent drive) to mild drive, to nice hard rock tone . And to achieve that you need at least 3 drive pedals, the trick is, they all need to work together. Maybe one is always on, but the others need to sound similar.
0.55 super cool lick man
Does it sound similar to your Ethos pedal as well? Any chance to have a room for this one on your board, to mimic the amp channel?
Yeah man, I feel it 🤘
I'm confused by the on/clean boost/gain boost switching. So you have to hit the pedal twice to turn it off and three times to get it on but without any boost or do you need to hold the pedal down to turn it off and short clicks just toggle between on and on with boost?
You can set it that the switch just turns the pedal on and off or set it up that when the pedal is on one click of the switch can activate the volume boost, gain boost or both. In this mode a double click turns it off and when off a single click turns it back on to the mode you turned it off in
So I guess they are not getting the pedal back. It looks nice. Sounds nice. Going to website. Thx for the vid.
Great review, much appreciated! I have this N5 pedal and I noticed when the gain is past about 1 o’clock there is a lot of hum noise in between your guitar playing. Any tips on how to quote this down? Thank you in advance.
More great playing and demo by Pete. However, I've realized over the past few years that I don't care for distortion pedals for my playing at least, including the one's that are called "OD" pedals (I'm looking at you Friedman BEOD). AND YET I keep watching demos of distortion pedals . . . . ;-)
They make a KILLER delay.
Pete what are your amp settings for this ...wow. awesome
Generally I will just set the amplifier for a fairly neutral clean sound
Have you tried the n5+? They released it in 19 summer NAMM
AronMay thanks for this comment, I had no idea there was a newer version
So versatile
Hmm... is that a shiny new black Suhr I see perchance? Great sounding pedal, and very versatile, but your amp has that "certain something" that just beats it. Damn :O)
Best review yet
Hi Pete, one question...What is the difference between this pedal and its previous version?
Hey Pete this or the engine by dry bell?
Thanks for another great review. I really liked the previous version of this pedal and your review of it several years ago. One question, Pete: how does this pedal sound with single coil pickups? This pedal obviously rocks when used with humbuckers. I’m just curious. Thanks 🙏🏼!
That intro tune!
N°5..... Classy!
If you happen to still have the Distortion No 5, do you think you could make a short comparison clip of the two? I own the Distortion, wondering if I should order a Drive.
Nice to se the black signature shut back in action here. Does it have the new bridge on it now too?
YES
Do those EQ knobs light up? It’s impossible to seen how they’re set
Thats the only problem with it. Cant see where those knobs are set.
are you demoing the new drive plus pedal ??? :)
YO Pete , will this bad boy oust the Ethos TWE1 from your new pedal board ?
kick ass guitarest, did you make that pedal?
This one or the Abasi Phatos?
Another excellent demo. Thanks Pete. Do you think you might add this to your pedalboard? Sounds amazing through headphones but being in a live room real speakers must be out of this world. Thanks for the links. Awesome playing too!
It's possible ya!
I want one !!! NOW !!!!
So order one already!

@@MrDavemiley Dude, My Sinvertek DRIVE N5 delivered today (Monday Nov. 12th) so a total of nine days.
Pedal arrived in 100% perfect condition!
I wonder how it would effect an amp that you didn't like the drive channel ie hot rod deluxe? Great video as always.
This pedal through the clean channel of a HRDX would sound miles better than the drive channel
Dang! I wish I had gotten that instead of the Atomic Overdrive.
is that a Suhr t-shirt Pete?
If you have a link that will ship in the US with the price, I would buy now.
Great sounding pedal. Went to place order and I cant fill out the purchase order they ask to download and fill out and send with my phone. Seems a little complicated. Too bad, sounds good.
Maybe later when I get to my computer in a week or two...but I'll probably forget.
Great demo as always though
