      they all do sound great, and I was trying to get a new N5+ started contacting in April three different ways, no replies... then I see a post on FB, they had discontinued it and in it's place they'd be making a new version. The 3D one here. I still want the one before the 3D, it's a different tone.

      @@Xyrium I have the N5+ Gold and where I landed on it is that it's great if you want a more amp like high-gain drive into a small practice amp. I bought a previous version of the no5 based on your videos, Pete. So many distortion and overdrive pedals sound like a pedal into an amp- which is a thing, but not always cool. That isn't the case with Sinvertek!! Starting with all knobs at 5 I'm able to very quickly get something that sounds and more importantly feels like the lead/crunch channel on a tube amp! Initially I thought the switches were too subtle, but once I dialed it in I found that they're perfectly tuned to make the distortion work with different clean channels. Thanks for reviewing their newest, great demo! I have one question- how do they make any money!? They're super affordable for what they are!! Thanks again and good luck with the Rock Show and COVID!

      Titanium Version ( Limited 99pcs / USD209 )
      Our chief designer-Wu will do the electronic test and final sound check himself to ensure you get
      a top standard Sinvertek product. Compared to Drive N5+, this version has a 20% improvement
      in tone detail and quality.
      Gold Version ( Limited 99pcs / USD299 )
      This is not a normal product. It is an artwork and weapon Wu created to make his dream come
      true. Its competitors is an amp, and has enough power to start a war againest top amps. All
      work will be hand modified by Wu, mainly including selecting gain components, matching each
      gain stage and use rare find NOS FET which from his own private collection in the first gain stage.
      Also doing the electronic test, sound check and final assemble. Compared to the Titanium version,
      Gold version stands at a new level, the tone is extreme transparency and 3D feel. If you're used
      to playing with top amps, meanwhile don't trust other devices can do it, please try this version.

    This sounds great, and the a/b comparisons are impressive, but as an acoustic guitarist I have a newbie question: Why?
    If you have to run this through the clean channel of a similar sounding amp, which has its own drive channel, is this intended to give you the Soldano drive channel sound with a cheaper amp / one with different characteristics? If do, then does it make sense to do the a/b testing with such an amp? Surely, if you already have a Soldano you don't need this...
    Also, the "experimental guitar fan" in me wants to know how it sounds direct, and also how it sounds into the drive channel. 😈

    • @ToneNerdPickups
      @ToneNerdPickups 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It essentially give you a 3D channel. Many songs have cleans and dirties, but the single dirty channel many be the best option for both the rhythms and leads. You may want to dial things in differently for each

    • @PeteThorn
      @PeteThorn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The guy who designed it really intended it to be used the way that I demonstrated it. Which isn’t to say it couldn’t sound good another way but I opted to stick with his intended use. I decided to show the pedal the same way that he turned it in, into the clean channel of the SLO. Of course he did that so he could directly AB with the overdrive channel of the amplifier.
      Of course you’re not going to do that in practice, if you have the amp you’ll probably use the amp but I think the idea is that into a good/decent clean channel of whatever amp you have, you will be able to get quite a similar sound.

      I think the idea is to get as closest possible to the preamp sound of that amplifier and then of course you’re gonna run that pedal into whatever clean channel that you’ve got. Hopefully it’s decent. This isn’t a pedal for somebody that already has that amp but dialing it in through that amp seems to make sense, because it’s a direct comparison to the distortion channel

    Way too complicated for me.

    So to make this pedal sound like an SLO you've got to run it into the clean channel of a Bogner Extacy or and SLO. And if you already have an SLO you don't need this pedal. Plus .... it's got x2 too many dials and switches. Not for me thanks :)

    it needs more knobs for me to have any real interest in it. I hate simplicity
