Wishlist houseplant unboxing!
I've been wanting this plant since the beginning of my plant collecting journey. I actually had 3 attempts at this particular hoya plant in the past but each time something didn't work out. In this video I talk about those stories and unbox the beautiful variegated hoya compacta from We Are Plant Lovers!

I have had all three. Variegated, regular and Mauna Loa. I had a cutting of the Mauna Loa and I paid 30 dollars for it and it was about 12”. Life happened and I no longer have my original compactas.
I now have the regular one and a cuttings of the outer variegated and it has freaking mealies! Ugh !! I’m trying to get rid of them before I pot the cuttings.
Your compacta is gorgeous! I have found the Mauna Loa for 300 but I can’t justify that purchase. Lol

Omg I’m jealous of your Mauna Loa! Totally get that, life can get in the way sometimes and plants take a back seat. I’m sorry about the mealies! Definitely routine cleanings with alcohol. If you get mealy bugs on plants with hard to reach crevices, thoroughly rinse the plant with a full force shower, then spray the soil and leaves in 70% alcohol. It works every time.

I should have tried blasting it with water! I did do a strong alcohol drench though. But it was crazy literally the next day it would be covered again. It was SO infested.

I too lost a Hoya compacta to mealy bugs. I now have a small green and variegated. Mealy are terribly on Hoya compactas! I love watching tours and genus videos. Those are prob my favorite 🤭

USPS/Fed Ex/UPS just don't know how to deliver plants. I just had a box delivered today with 12 plants inside that was posted this side up plants and they still managed to tip it upside down. My mouth was open the whole time you were unpacking your hoya. It is absolutely beautiful.

you bet im jelous of the compacta! i used to have a very large green one- unfortunately infected with mealies, treated like crazy, bugs were having a feast inside the curled leafes . . it also died
