Yamato did way better than Luffy. Kaido even said Luffy's advanced Conquerors was sloppy and that he got arrogant. Kaido then started crying cuz he was disappointed

Yamato showed more skill yes, but Luffy lasted longer considering he was weaker than Yamato and didn't even know Advanced CoC until he finished tanking about 90% of Kaido and Big Mom's attacks. I mean, the guy took a Boro Breath and a Ragnarok at point blank, 0 defense, and still got up talking smack lol 😂. I'm not saying Luffy > Yamato btw.. just saying Luffy performed better considering his disadvantage.
Luffy might get the finishing blow on Kaido but Oda has written himself in a corner for Luffy too 1v1 him. It would take all the Supernova at wano to beat him. Kid will find a way to land a devastating blow to Kaido which was foreshadow back 10 plus chapters ago.

I just don’t think that Luffy alone is capable of doing something that I’m sure the strongest of pirates in the past haven’t been able to do. it’s hard to pinpoint how Luffy is against particularly strong enemies at times because he seldom does a regular 1v1 from start to finish. Against Doffy he had a lot of help not just from law but after Doffy withstood his first gear 4th assault the people bought Luffy time to recover. The Katakuri fight was just weird overall to me because katakuri was almost literally beating him the whole fight until he lost (and also the outside interference made things weird since I don’t know if Luffy would’ve been able to wound katakuri the way he did to himself to try to “even” the fight”) I just think Oda has done a good job showing Kaidou isn’t like all these other villains we’re used to seeing take L’s but Luffy and something miraculous will have to happen.

21:34 Can confirm Sawyer is 100% right. As an Asian I can say that male superiority is deeply rooted in our history and traditions. Position of high ranking official can only be held by males and the role of a woman commonly viewed as housekeeper. Similar reason why Mulan have to disguise herself as a male to enlist in the army, Kaido only used the term "son" because he wanted Yamato to be shogun of Wano.
I think the reasoning behind Kaido calling Yamato " son" is pretty simple. Kaido most likely wanted a son to be his heir or the eventual Shogun of Wano. Women are traditionally not allowed to be a Shogun. So, to remedy that. Kaido just raised Yamato as his son instead. Also, just the fact that Kaido named his daughter Yamato, which as far as I know, is a very masculine name says a lot. This does throw a wrench in the theory that Yamato is a clone of Kaido because then, i imagine they would be able to manipulate her gender to be male.Or maybe Yamato is also a failure of sorts but Kaido decided to raise her still.
I really do believe it is as simple as this. And going around calling herself the son of Kaido while also saying she's Oden is a way for her to stab Kaido right where it hurts the most in order to equal an entire life of mistreatment and abuse, like "yeah, I'll be your son but the worst son you could ever imagine".
Yamato may be based on Lady Oscar (the rose of versailles), a japanese manga whose protagonist is raised by her father as a son because he only had daughters and needed a male as an heir. So I think your theory is true.

Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing... Kaido wanted a son so when he got a girl... he was going to have a son no matter what. He was going to treat her like he would treat any male to toughen her up to take on the role of Shogun. There are people here today, that are so obsessed with having either a boy or girl heir. But, when they get the opposite sex they literally treat their child, like the sex that they wanted to have. I just think people need to chill with crying about "fictional" characters and just enjoy the story.... Isn't that what really brought us to One Piece 🤔

I’m finally here sawyer, I was one of those naruto fans that keep persisting about not watching one piece back in the day and throughout the years it kept peeking my interest because that was the only thing you kept uploading so I decided to check it it out and it quickly became one of my favorite series of all time. I’m now caught up with the manga and the anime. That’s an achievement in it of itself 🤣
I hated one piece for over 5 years because I tried to watch the anime and I couldn't make it past the first 15 episodes. Whenever it was brought up I groaned and rolled my eyes. Then, I began reading manga instead of only watching anime and I grew to love it. One piece fan for over 6 years now.

So that you don't get distracted by the need to provide comments as you read, and you'll just be silently researching after every panel you read, unlike Rogersbase or KoL hype-filled screaming reactions.

I found it weird at first that oda decided to switch yamato and kaido back to their human/oni forms, but then i realized he did that for luffy to recognise yamato since he didn't see her hybrid form..
These in depth reviews are so good. As for the Yamato son/daughter debate, which I didn't know people were even still worrying about that, it kind of fits the theme of wano. There's a lot of characters who have duplicitous identities in this arc, there was Momo being a dragon which is reflective of Kaido and many characters not knowing that about it (even in this latest chapter) there was O-kiku, the fox Monk that fought zoro at the bridge, Killer not having his mask on and laughing, Momo's sister, that traitor kanjuro, the porcupine guy that sacrifice himself (forgot his name)... if you want to go even deeper you can even look at the duplicitous nature of the smile fruit, how it offers power in a mismatched form or forces somebody to laugh for the rest of their lives. A minor running theme in Wano is definitely about identity and roles mixing within a single person. Yamato is a she, because she is a woman and that's how she sees her gender... which I believe is in SBS 100 but Yamatl is also "Oden" who is male and a father (as in she carries on his will, almost like a D. Clan member would) and she is also Kaidos "son" as Sawyer said for gender conformity to the Shogun title. (Which I think some of the Tobi Roppo even though Yamato was a boy? I mean it's been years and some of Kaidos top officers don't know she's not a boy? That probably means Kaido is the one perpetuating that he has a son) There's a much deeper conversation to be had here. I hope people manage to listen to each other and move past real world pronoun arguments so the story can flourish more. Or maybe I'm an idiot, idk. Great video Sawyer!

Just found out yesterday that the Shogun traditionally is not the emperor of Japan. The Shogun is considered the military leader and in the past challenged the emperor's court to be the one in control. I never knew this, I thought they were one in the same.
yes, shogun is not the emperor. . the emperor is still exist but it's more like a symbolism or puppet.. since back in the day shogun is more active than the emperor... if I'm not wrong

Another theory here. Based on the old momotaro story in Japan, momotaro (momo) will have three followers when fighting the devils, a dog (Yamato), a monkey (Luffy) and a pheasant (Possible Marco for his fruit as a bird or Aokiji for his name [“ao” means blue and “Kiji” means pheasant])… so we are possibly waiting on one more helper and if it’s Aokiji we should expect Blackbeard too. Also imagine if this is real and Aokiji is coming, how many years ago did Aokiji appear before Wano and Oda had this all planned out already
Another possible candidate for the pheasant (real long shot so probably won't happen) could be Hiyori. Only real evidence is that she, as Komurasaki, had a Peafowl/Peacock (a type of pheasant) on her dress.

I always enjoy your reviews a lot. But let me tell you, the last part of this video was so good! Thank you for including your take on the debate about Yamato's gender. Which btw, it only happens in western countries. People need to chill out, enjoy the ride, and let Oda tell his story and explain things at his own pace.

@@outkastshadowking2719 I always called her a "she" but she does call herself "Oden" and by extension she thinks she "should" be or act as a man. Also, she's being called "son" by Kaido who is trying to make her Shogun (women can't be Shogun). So yeah, it's complicated. But in my mind, she is confused about "becoming" Oden, and she is too influenced by Kaido's plans. So I'll call her a "she" until Oda tell me otherwise.
I just think this is all a big mistranslation. It shouldn't be translated as "Kaido's son", it should always be translated as "Kaido's child". The Japanese pronoun is gender neutral, and it's getting emphasized more the the gendered pronoun in Yamato introduction box, "Kaido's daughter"
When the battle is over, I don’t want to see the power-scalers and the anime onlys to start claiming Luffy beat Kaido. It should be recognized that Luffy and Co. beat Kaido, cause its going to be like saying Boruto beat Momoshiki, when we all know it’s nowhere close to the truth. Aside from my small rant, great review from Sawyer like always and another hit chapter for Oda.
What's people's issue with luffy getting stronger? Not saying he'll deserve ALL of the credit, but we're approaching the end of the series... At some point, he has to be able to solo a yonkou (preferably before another half decade)
I agree with this. I remember the same for Luffy vs Doflamingo, I highly doubt he would have won, had it not been for Law radio knife wich prevented Doffy from healing internally with his fruit ability... plus all the damage inflicted by him.
@@petitflowr275 I don't think Doflamingo could have taken Gear 4th. The gamma knife wasn't so devestating that Doflamingo couldn't function as normally, we don't get any clear evidence that it hindered his ability. It makes logical sense, but it is only speculation.

We need a talk. I'v always been under the impression that Luffy needed to learn Advanced Armament in order to imply those same principles on Conqueror's Haki instead to weaponize the 3rd Category of Haki. All was well and good and made sense. But now we see Yamato, who does not know Advanced Armament yet can weaponize her Conqueror's all the same. And now I'm left on "Hold up a minute" it doesn't add up. Or is it possible that she DOES know Advanced Armament but only to project her Haki outside her body, she doesn't know the further step technique to inject Haki internally in an enemy or object? And if that's the case, then Luffy may not stop using Advanced Armament just because he can weaponize his Conqueror's. Or maybe he uses _both at the same time_ ? This really needs clarification.
Clearly Luffy using internal ryou is special ,she has shown to have the emission ryou like zoros and you dont have to have adv armament ,adv armament is just flow ,if you understand flow then you can coat yourself.
Luffy does internal damage haki which is the highest technique, Yamato is more than likely using the stage just before the invisible armor. Think of it like this Armament is gas, Conquerors is nitrous. Conquerors is naturally stronger than Armament so even if Yamato( and even Zoro) can't do internal damage like Luffy Conquerors takes your techniques to a higher level.
@@jeffj3976 Emission of Haki is still Advanced Armament, that's what Rayleigh showed in training and that's what Luffy wanted to learn initially in the first place. The Internal flow technique is just a step beyond that, a very deadly one at that. When Luffy got back up after Zoro's Ashura we got a flashback panel of Hyo explaining internal damage Haki, then Luffy said something along the lines "all the attacks I tried, they're still not it" Which makes me think up until that point the only times Luffy did Internal Armament was when his life was on the line (prison collars) or really calm (with Yamato's cuffs, Red Roc), and he's been trying to become more consistent with it since then. When he figured out weaponizing CoC, he did three things; 1- Block Kaido's club. 2- Punch to the gut. 3- Uppercut. You say he used both in conjunction, of these 3 which are the ones when Luffy used both CoC and internal Armament at the same time?
Excellent comparison on how Odin was similar in strength to Scopper, which could reflect on how Sanji will eventually develop. I was also thinking that the Straw Hat pirates need to eventually be at least a level higher than a main yonko crew. We know the Big Mom pirates 1st and 2nd commander’s had kings haki. This means Luffy’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd would need kings haki eventually to one up that crew by 1 level.
I THINK most likely...since one of the guards at the Torii sea fortress at the start of the battle (the big devil looking dude Luffy KOs) and Black Maria both seem to come from the same race as well.

Yeah but youre translating to English audience. And there is no separate Ogre race. So it works well because so popular and almost overused. That first beast Urameshi fights in Yuyu Hakusho is also an ogre demon. Not an oni :)
Ogres and Oni are literally the same thing lol. Ogre is just a westernized iteration of an Oni. What I'm mad about is the fact that they changed luffy calling Yamato "Yamabro" in the unofficial to "yamaoa" which is such a downgrade. The unofficial nickname fits her perfectly and summarizes luffys basic character traits as well as anything. He remembered in the middle of confronting his mortal enemy that Yamato considers herself Oden and refers to her as YamaBro. Thats awesome and wholesome af
@Society of Light not if luffy knows that Yamato dreams to be oden who is a male. Im sure if/when her life is in danger and luffy does that scream of concern, he'll yell out Yamato. If he refers to her as yamao in everyday situations instead, thats just what her name is to him. The point is that Luffy not only remembered her name, but her idolization of Oden as well. Even if she doesn't join, im amazed at what a genuinely kind and considerate spirited soul luffy has.

I was just going with Kaido and Momo dragons being mirror images and Luffy and Yamato mirroring with that double snake based attack on Kaido but your idea that the antagonist in the story mirrors Kaido was a good insight.
With everything Kaido has taken I seriously believe he's truly the strongest Yonko. I mean I just don't see Shanks having the same durability, offensive power maybe but no way is shanks taking a Gamma Knife and walking it off
Maybe 1 v 1 but id bet money if it was the redhair pirates vs the beast pirates the beast pirates would lose, especially if after shanks commanders beat kaidos commanders shanks let them help him fight kaido.
You're looking at this like DBZ, where all characters must share same stats or they're fodder. Shanks doesn't need to be dragon level tank. He could easily make it up with his agility and techniques + Don't forget that of all the Yonko, he is without a doubt portrayed as the one with the strongest Haki, he wouldn't become Yonko with a one arm and no Fruit unless his Haki game is *absolutely Disgusting* So you must be careful before you generalize like that.
Well, we know that kaido has been defeated and captured multiple times over his life, so I wouldn't be surprised if shanks has beaten him before, his claim to fame is that he can't be killed.
I think it's odd people can't accept that a character might be over Zoro. Based on what we've seen, Yamato is stronger. She actually knocked Kaido down, something Zoro complained he couldn't do. Obviously she's not gonna slice him with her club. I love Zoro but i don't think it's blasphemy to accept that Yamato is currently stronger than him and close to Luffy. Of course that's gonna change. It's just odd that people have to go and use mental gymnastics to explain why Zoro is actually stronger right now

Yamato is still stronger than Zoro and Sanji. I would argue she's even above Luffy at least for now until Luffy gets his next big powerup. Yamato and Luffy are reaching levels of power that can't be reached unless you're "special"
@@thetruth997_ For most of the fight that Yamato had with Kaido, she was painting and tired despite the fact that Kaido wasn't trying with her. We know this because he didn't use haki until chapter 1023, and that was when he was trying to kill her. Kaido was always trying to kill Luffy however, and wasn't afraid to use strong Conqueror's haki infused attacks against Luffy. Kaido was more serious against Luffy than he was against Yamato even now, and yet Luffy was still able to turn things around and even temporarily gain the upper hand. So Luffy is still stronger than Yamato.
That would suck, the planet being plagued by knock off devil fruits. Imagine if the rule applied to the failures that only caused people to smile forever.
Definitely think the firepower of Ashura was higher than anything Yamato has put out. I think they're very close, they're meant to parallel Roger, Rayleigh, and Oden obviously and I think on that crew the dynamic was the same where Oden was just below Rayleigh.

Kaido using the title oni seems to implicate that Kaido is based off Kintaro or known in some myths as Kaidomaru and if true it is likely that Kaido was raised by a yuma umba which in this case could be Higurashi Kurozumi which is why Orochi and Kaido had formed the pact as they are cousins.

Luffy might get the finishing blow on Kaido but Oda has written himself in a corner for Luffy too 1v1 him. It would take all the Supernova at wano to beat him. Kid will find a way to land a devastating blow to Kaido which was foreshadow back 10 plus chapters ago.

I just don’t think that Luffy alone is capable of doing something that I’m sure the strongest of pirates in the past haven’t been able to do. it’s hard to pinpoint how Luffy is against particularly strong enemies at times because he seldom does a regular 1v1 from start to finish.
Against Doffy he had a lot of help not just from law but after Doffy withstood his first gear 4th assault the people bought Luffy time to recover.
The Katakuri fight was just weird overall to me because katakuri was almost literally beating him the whole fight until he lost (and also the outside interference made things weird since I don’t know if Luffy would’ve been able to wound katakuri the way he did to himself to try to “even” the fight”)
I just think Oda has done a good job showing Kaidou isn’t like all these other villains we’re used to seeing take L’s but Luffy and something miraculous will have to happen.

Position of high ranking official can only be held by males and the role of a woman commonly viewed as housekeeper. Similar reason why Mulan have to disguise herself as a male to enlist in the army, Kaido only used the term "son" because he wanted Yamato to be shogun of Wano.

I think the reasoning behind Kaido calling Yamato " son" is pretty simple. Kaido most likely wanted a son to be his heir or the eventual Shogun of Wano. Women are traditionally not allowed to be a Shogun. So, to remedy that. Kaido just raised Yamato as his son instead. Also, just the fact that Kaido named his daughter Yamato, which as far as I know, is a very masculine name says a lot.
This does throw a wrench in the theory that Yamato is a clone of Kaido because then, i imagine they would be able to manipulate her gender to be male.Or maybe Yamato is also a failure of sorts but Kaido decided to raise her still.
I really do believe it is as simple as this. And going around calling herself the son of Kaido while also saying she's Oden is a way for her to stab Kaido right where it hurts the most in order to equal an entire life of mistreatment and abuse, like "yeah, I'll be your son but the worst son you could ever imagine".
Yamato may be based on Lady Oscar (the rose of versailles), a japanese manga whose protagonist is raised by her father as a son because he only had daughters and needed a male as an heir. So I think your theory is true.

Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing... Kaido wanted a son so when he got a girl... he was going to have a son no matter what. He was going to treat her like he would treat any male to toughen her up to take on the role of Shogun. There are people here today, that are so obsessed with having either a boy or girl heir. But, when they get the opposite sex they literally treat their child, like the sex that they wanted to have. I’m finally here sawyer, I was one of those naruto fans that keep persisting about not watching one piece back in the day and throughout the years it kept peeking my interest because that was the only thing you kept uploading so I decided to check it it out and it quickly became one of my favorite series of all time. I’m now caught up with the manga and the anime. That’s an achievement in it of itself 🤣
I hated one piece for over 5 years because I tried to watch the anime and I couldn't make it past the first 15 episodes. Whenever it was brought up I groaned and rolled my eyes. Then, I began reading manga instead of only watching anime and I grew to love it. One piece fan for over 6 years now.

As for the Yamato son/daughter debate, which I didn't know people were even still worrying about that, it kind of fits the theme of wano.
There's a lot of characters who have duplicitous identities in this arc, there was Momo being a dragon which is reflective of Kaido and many characters not knowing that about it (even in this latest chapter) there was O-kiku, the fox Monk that fought zoro at the bridge, Killer not having his mask on and laughing, Momo's sister, that traitor kanjuro, the porcupine guy that sacrifice himself (forgot his name)... if you want to go even deeper you can even look at the duplicitous nature of the smile fruit, how it offers power in a mismatched form or forces somebody to laugh for the rest of their lives. A minor running theme in Wano is definitely about identity and roles mixing within a single person. Yamato is a she, because she is a woman and that's how she sees her gender... which I believe is in SBS 100 but Yamatl is also "Oden" who is male and a father (as in she carries on his will, almost like a D. Clan member would) and she is also Kaidos "son" as Sawyer said for gender conformity to the Shogun title. (Which I think some of the Tobi Roppo even though Yamato was a boy? I mean it's been years and some of Kaidos top officers don't know she's not a boy? That probably means Kaido is the one perpetuating that he has a son)
There's a much deeper conversation to be had here. I hope people manage to listen to each other and move past real world pronoun arguments so the story can flourish more. Or maybe I'm an idiot, idk.

Just found out yesterday that the Shogun traditionally is not the emperor of Japan. The Shogun is considered the military leader and in the past challenged the emperor's court to be the one in control. I never knew this, I thought they were one in the same.

Another theory here. Based on the old momotaro story in Japan, momotaro (momo) will have three followers when fighting the devils, a dog (Yamato), a monkey (Luffy) and a pheasant (Possible Marco for his fruit as a bird or Aokiji for his name [“ao” means blue and “Kiji” means pheasant])… so we are possibly waiting on one more helper and if it’s Aokiji we should expect Blackbeard too. Also imagine if this is real and Aokiji is coming, how many years ago did Aokiji appear before Wano and Oda had this all planned out already
Another possible candidate for the pheasant (real long shot so probably won't happen) could be Hiyori. Only real evidence is that she, as Komurasaki, had a Peafowl/Peacock (a type of pheasant) on her dress.

Also, she's being called "son" by Kaido who is trying to make her Shogun (women can't be Shogun). So yeah, it's complicated. But in my mind, she is confused about "becoming" Oden, and she is too influenced by Kaido's plans. So I'll call her a "she" until Oda tell me otherwise.
I just think this is all a big mistranslation. It shouldn't be translated as "Kaido's son", it should always be translated as "Kaido's child". The Japanese pronoun is gender neutral, and it's getting emphasized more the the gendered pronoun in Yamato introduction box, "Kaido's daughter"
and just like they won't change Zolo to Zoro, they also won't fix Kaido calling Yamato as son.

When the battle is over, I don’t want to see the power-scalers and the anime onlys to start claiming Luffy beat Kaido. It should be recognized that Luffy and Co. beat Kaido, cause its going to be like saying Boruto beat Momoshiki, when we all know it’s nowhere close to the truth.

What's people's issue with luffy getting stronger? Not saying he'll deserve ALL of the credit, but we're approaching the end of the series... At some point, he has to be able to solo a yonkou (preferably before another half decade)
I agree with this. I remember the same for Luffy vs Doflamingo, I highly doubt he would have won, had it not been for Law radio knife wich prevented Doffy from healing internally with his fruit ability... plus all the damage inflicted by him.

@@petitflowr275 I don't think Doflamingo could have taken Gear 4th. The gamma knife wasn't so devestating that Doflamingo couldn't function as normally, we don't get any clear evidence that it hindered his ability. It makes logical sense, but it is only speculation.

I'v always been under the impression that Luffy needed to learn Advanced Armament in order to imply those same principles on Conqueror's Haki instead to weaponize the 3rd Category of Haki. All was well and good and made sense.
But now we see Yamato, who does not know Advanced Armament yet can weaponize her Conqueror's all the same. And now I'm left on "Hold up a minute" it doesn't add up.
Or is it possible that she DOES know Advanced Armament but only to project her Haki outside her body, she doesn't know the further step technique to inject Haki internally in an enemy or object? And if that's the case, then Luffy may not stop using Advanced Armament just because he can weaponize his Conqueror's. Or maybe he uses _both at the same time_ ?

Clearly Luffy using internal ryou is special ,she has shown to have the emission ryou like zoros and you dont have to have adv armament ,adv armament is just flow ,if you understand flow then you can coat yourself.
And yeah Luffy can still use internal destruction with coc coating ,when he first learnt adv coc we saw him use both two in conjunction
Luffy does internal damage haki which is the highest technique, Yamato is more than likely using the stage just before the invisible armor. Think of it like this Armament is gas, Conquerors is nitrous. Conquerors is naturally stronger than Armament so even if Yamato( and even Zoro) can't do internal damage like Luffy Conquerors takes your techniques to a higher level.
@@jeffj3976 Emission of Haki is still Advanced Armament, that's what Rayleigh showed in training and that's what Luffy wanted to learn initially in the first place. The Internal flow technique is just a step beyond that, a very deadly one at that.
When Luffy got back up after Zoro's Ashura we got a flashback panel of Hyo explaining internal damage Haki, then Luffy said something along the lines "all the attacks I tried, they're still not it" Which makes me think up until that point the only times Luffy did Internal Armament was when his life was on the line (prison collars) or really calm (with Yamato's cuffs, Red Roc), and he's been trying to become more consistent with it since then.
When he figured out weaponizing CoC, he did three things;
1- Block Kaido's club.
2- Punch to the gut.
3- Uppercut.
You say he used both in conjunction, of these 3 which are the ones when Luffy used both CoC and internal Armament at the same time?
Excellent comparison on how Odin was similar in strength to Scopper, which could reflect on how Sanji will eventually develop. I was also thinking that the Straw Hat pirates need to eventually be at least a level higher than a main yonko crew. We know the Big Mom pirates 1st and 2nd commander’s had kings haki. This means Luffy’s 1st, 2nd, and 3rd would need kings haki eventually to one up that crew by 1 level.
So if Kaido and Yamato are Onis are they the 3rd missing race that Big Mom wanted for her crew along with the Giants and the Lunarian 🤔

Yeah but youre translating to English audience. And there is no separate Ogre race. So it works well because so popular and almost overused. That first beast Urameshi fights in Yuyu Hakusho is also an ogre demon. Not an oni :)
Ogres and Oni are literally the same thing lol. Ogre is just a westernized iteration of an Oni. What I'm mad about is the fact that they changed luffy calling Yamato "Yamabro" in the unofficial to "yamaoa" which is such a downgrade. The unofficial nickname fits her perfectly and summarizes luffys basic character traits as well as anything. He remembered in the middle of confronting his mortal enemy that Yamato considers herself Oden and refers to her as YamaBro. Thats awesome and wholesome af

If he refers to her as yamao in everyday situations instead, thats just what her name is to him. The point is that Luffy not only remembered her name, but her idolization of Oden as well. Even if she doesn't join, im amazed at what a genuinely kind and considerate spirited soul luffy has.

I think it's odd people can't accept that a character might be over Zoro. Based on what we've seen, Yamato is stronger. She actually knocked Kaido down, something Zoro complained he couldn't do. Obviously she's not gonna slice him with her club. I love Zoro but i don't think it's blasphemy to accept that Yamato is currently stronger than him and close to Luffy. Of course that's gonna change. It's just odd that people have to go and use mental gymnastics to explain why Zoro is actually stronger right now
I think it’s pointless to power scale after every single chapter.

Yamato is still stronger than Zoro and Sanji. I would argue she's even above Luffy at least for now until Luffy gets his next big powerup. Yamato and Luffy are reaching levels of power that can't be reached unless you're "special"

@@thetruth997_ For most of the fight that Yamato had with Kaido, she was painting and tired despite the fact that Kaido wasn't trying with her. We know this because he didn't use haki until chapter 1023, and that was when he was trying to kill her. Kaido was always trying to kill Luffy however, and wasn't afraid to use strong Conqueror's haki infused attacks against Luffy. Kaido was more serious against Luffy than he was against Yamato even now, and yet Luffy was still able to turn things around and even temporarily gain the upper hand. So Luffy is still stronger than Yamato.

That would suck, the planet being plagued by knock off devil fruits. Imagine if the rule applied to the failures that only caused people to smile forever.

probably not since smiles can be farmed and reproduced multiple times. DFs are only one of its kind so the DF reincarnation after death makes sense.

Na, Yamato > Zoro. She didn't scar Kaido because she's using a club. Just like Kaido didn't scar Luffy in act 1. They crush bones, not cut skin.
Definitely think the firepower of Ashura was higher than anything Yamato has put out. I think they're very close, they're meant to parallel Roger, Rayleigh, and Oden obviously and I think on that crew the dynamic was the same where Oden was just below Rayleigh.
@@Alaspooryorick98 Where does Sanji fit in then? Oda is clearly pushing the Monster Trio dynamic and doesn't wish to get rid of it. He has kept it up for years without it ever changing, and if what you're saying is true then it may threaten it.

Kaido using the title oni seems to implicate that Kaido is based off Kintaro or known in some myths as Kaidomaru and if true it is likely that Kaido was raised by a yuma umba which in this case could be Higurashi Kurozumi which is why Orochi and Kaido had formed the pact as they are cousins.
