I got to experiment more. Battery says 6.5 hours but I doubt it. Im thinking regular power mode (not energy saver) 1-3 hours of casual use like music, work chrome tabs). I’m basing thing on my previous experience with lenovo laptops. Also this is a 14 inch with a small battery.

You can check your task manager > performance > memory. This laptop has 4gb ram built into the motherboard. Depends on where you buy it from. Some included an extra 4gb ram stick making the ram 8gb ram total
To be honest im totally fine with tn displays. To me having 1080p is more important. Ips screens have better viewing angles but I hardly notice it to be honest. Just my opinion. Others really want ips displays but I think they look at the laptop from various angles
@@whattmeter frankly I've never used tn panel, i have ips panel laptop. But i saw some videos about tn panels' view angles (which is bad). That's why I'm concerned a little. However considering your comment, i don't have to worry about tn panels so much :)
I think it depends too on the refresh rate. You could also look at the tn display on laptops in stores like at best buy or walmart to see if you like it before buying a laptop. Also tn displays are a big upgrade from CRT monitors so that's probably why I'm ok with it. If you really game a lot and need quick reflexes ips can make a difference. I'm a casual user so even at work I use tn mostly because they are cheaper.
I haven’t taken it out of s mode yet. Not sure about the Performance boost yet, im working on starting to compare the cpus. You are right though, even price wise this is similar to the laptop with the 3200u

I am working on comparing the AMD athlon silver vs the amd ryzen 3 3200u. Should have a video this weekend. It's been tricky comparing them because CPU benchmark scores can vary. Even just changing the thermal paste can affect results. I'm still learning as I go along and the comments have been helpful thinking of ideas.

I've had this laptop for about a week, and its battery life is very short. From 100% battery doing simple video viewing, it goes down by half in slightly over an hour. Is this normal for this laptop?
@@whattmeter Nah, running it in power saving mode produces these sort of results. Also, I have many pending windows updates that may contribute to the reason its battery life isn’t fully optimised, but I’ll have to see how that goes.

Unfortunately I would not use this for those programs because of the 5400 rpm mechanical hard drive. There are many versions of this laptop, i would get something with better specs because autocad and visual studio are resource intensive programs

On paper though they both have the same clock speed of 2.6 GHz. the 3250U came out a few months later than the 3200U so the 3250u is a newer model. In my opinion if you compare this stock to the asus vivo book 15 which is more than 400 bucks, the asus vivo book 15 is better. Not sure which model you are referring to for the asus and what cpu it has but the asus has the Faster ssd. This laptop has a smaller screen. Both the lenovo and asus only have one ram slot. Although I will double check if you can add an m.2 ssd to this lenovo. Both have 8gb ram, but the base speed for the cpu of this lenovo ideapad is faster than the asus with the intel i3 I reviewed recently. The trackpad on lenovo's arent the best. I am familiar with lenovo's and some people don't like the trackpad. I use lenovo for work and long hours and I really like it, but I am used to using budget laptops. I see budget laptops as machine's I don't have to worry about too much since they weren't too expensive when I got it.

Top of the laptop is plastic with a paint job of brushed aluminum apparently. Bottom of the laptop is plastic. It was hard to tell with the paint job, but I think this laptop is all plastic. Will double check.

I would try to get the laptop with bugger storage. Both are similar and can be upgraded. Unless you prefer whichever has the bigger screen

Check your power settings when you open lid. It must be turned on. You can set it so when you open lid it doesn’t turn on
