Of course you can. You can find it through many things. Finally you understand that happiness is something you really love, sometimes. Age is one way to understanding life more. At her age I was a buddhist as well. If it works for your family, and you find peace and love, I am so happy for you.

    • @ArcaneTuber
      @ArcaneTuber 3 ปีที่แล้ว +43

Yes, like the question of why would God torture people forever (in Hell)? how is that true justice? how can he be a loving god? I've heard the explanations: "because God is a just judge, that is Perfect Justice", "Who are we to question God?" "God is the author of life, he can do whatever he wants" "because God is eternal, the punishment is also eternal" . That explanations do not satisfy me, how is that moral? how is that just? just because someone creates something does it give him the right to torture his creation? (example: do the creators of Dolly (first cloned sheep) have the right to torture her?) and they try to convert you using fear tactics, I'm an skeptic, but I think the law of dharma makes more sense.

@@Ocean_of_wisdom_01 Many of the bad things that happen today are the result of bad and selfish decisions of human beings. We cannot blame God.
Now, sin not only affected human life, but also all of creation, corrupting it in a certain sense. Natural disasters and pandemics are caused by this corruption. Just as God allows us all to make decisions, and people can make bad decisions, He can also make natural disasters or pandemics act under His justice as a consequence of sin.
God can allow natural disasters and diseases (you can take it as epidemics as well), as well as avoid them or make them disappear. God is good, just and holy. We cannot totally and precisely question His decisions, because He knows what He does. What we do know with total certainty is that He is good and will help us according to His precious will always, even in or after natural disasters or pandemics. We should not remember God only when bad things happen, but also for the good ones, that is, why not remember and be thankful for all the good days He gives us? Days without natural disasters or pandemics? He is good and loves us infinitely. and His decisions fulfill fascinating purposes.
God loves you and created you for great things in Jesus.

This is not to condemn anyone but Jesus is the only way the truth and the life. It’s not about arguing which religion or faith is right... this is literally your soul and eternal life at stake! Jesus is REAL guys and he is coming back soon. But it’s also not about a religion, it’s about a personal relationship regardless of what some other Christians might say. I can testify for this myself as well as many others! It is hard to convince people who are so deceived by the schemes of the enemy and I do understand people if they take different viewpoints as that is the way of the world now but Jesus literally DIED a PAINFUL PAINFUL death for us and although people reject this, he still did this. He did it as a way to save our souls, and there is actually evidence for this based on people’s testimonies and the power of God in peoples lives, let alone the evidence of Jesus Christ from even secular historians who are not Christians. The Bible says that there will be a veil over people’s eyes due to the enemy, but when the truth hits you you will realise that Jesus is real. I was practically an atheist myself and I wasn’t always like this, but I literally heard the voice of God. No crazy moment or anything but it shook me to the core because it changed my whole perspective. The enemy has planted so many distractions to sway people from receiving and accepting the gospel of Jesus Christ and that’s just the reality and even many Christians have made it difficult for people to understand the true message of Jesus because they haven’t represented our faith well. We do not judge anyone and only wish for no soul to be lost and to extend the love of God and I pray for peoples lost souls as we are in the last days. Please just try it for yourselves and don’t let anybody else put you off - do your research and learn for yourself (by reading the Bible for yourself, especially New Testament) and you will see that God continuously tries to help and save us. Honestly, you will actually feel it for yourself. God is waiting to help you, heal your pain and is not there to make you feel bad, but you have to accept Him for who he is also! He is a holy God to be respected. He also teaches us to be a good person and to love everyone/not judge, as a moral and kind person. Hope everyone has success and nothing but blessings for this year and I pray for you all to experience the power and revelation of God for yourselves ❤️

Do you find that Buddhism actually gives you some practical tools that you can use to help you to cope and manage your mental illness? As opposed to Christianity that tells you that if you just believe the right things and believe in Jesus "he will make you well" or "he will help you". That without you having to do anything. I am Buddhist turned Christian then back Buddhist my self lol, no joke. But I have to say, it is true that Buddha says life is dukkha, which translates also disatisfactory, but he doesn't end it just there. That is only the first noble truth. He says that there is a cause to suffering which is ignorance in the form attachment or aversion to what is always changing, and the labeling things as self, which is caused by wrong view. Buddha teaches the path of meditation to attain insight into the way things are. He then goes on to explain the path that leads to the end of suffering, which is the realization of Nirvana, the awakening of wisdom, compassion, and righteousness. There is an end to suffering. I can't say that here and there you won't lose sight, cuz I do many times in one day, but I have seen the truth of suffering, its cause, and its cessation through direct insight into the nature of things and I'm just a regular guy to be honest. I've suffered and done some unwholesome things out of ignorance like everybody else. And I understand your views on the Christian side of things. Sorry for the long message but as a fellow Buddhist, I just wanted to share that with you and wish you peace and happiness.

I also overcame my Christian faith and found Humanism as speaking to my values and then later secular Buddhism and Stoicism. Buddhism is beautiful in its practices. Being mindful, striving to be a good person, wanting to be a good person, Buddhism is valuable to anyone, no matter what religion you have.
The Jesus of the Bible was also a great teacher of wisdom and of being a good person, it is just sad that Christians are not like their Jesus, they do not carry the light they claim to have, they do not bear the fruits of the spirit the bible teaches about, their racism, homophobia, tribalism and just their need to be right all the time instead of being good had a great deal to what lead me to take that step back and eventually overcome my faith.
Still today, I have nothing against people for wishing for something greater than themselves, for believing in a god or gods of love, but I have no time for those for whom religion is a weapon to destroy, a reason to hate and a means to justify their bigotry, who preaches hell and damnation, these people, some of them comment on here, these people are addicts to their dogma, they have their Christianity, but they lost their Christ.

I love your video ♥️ growing up as a Christian I completely understand you. I don’t like labeling myself but I guess I would lean more towards a Christian side. But ever since I was a child I questioned religions because I wondered “what makes Christianity so special? I believe God is a good God and I don’t believe we are the only path towards him” and in my church we grew up learning that ALL other religions are bad. It was very fear based and I could honestly say I wasn’t happy. Over time our pastor started changing, he decided to focus more on personal growth and working on the mind and we believe that the Bible has great teaching but it isn’t the word of God. It was written by man. Our spiritual life goes far deeper than 1 book. Once my pastor started teaching this way about 80% of our church left and became super hateful towards us. And I do not judge them for doing so but it kindof sucks because we have not done anything harm them. I believe they show anger towards us due to lack of understanding. They are clouded by religion. I can honestly say I feel truly free and happier now that I’ve taken a more spiritual path.

There's hypocritical people within every religion, and every walk of life.
If perfect good has a source that we, as Christians, call God, then unGodliness has a source too (the Devil).
God's ways are of perfect love, perfect honesty, perfect dignity, perfect humility, etc.
The devils ways are of "not" love, honesty, dignity, n humility, but of anger, fear, dishonesty, n pride.
God's ways are self-"less", and God is completely selfless. The devils ways are self-ish, and Satan is selfish.
God's path is the God-centered path, in which one puts God at the mast and center of their world and their life. Satan's path is "self-centered".
When people give up their own will (their own "selfish" desires), to carry put God's will, then they give credit to God, bcuz all goodness comes from God. Whereas, all evil has its source which is Satan. And, the individual person has free will to choose to make good honest choices, or bad, dishonest, selfish choices. All goodness has a source, of which comes from God, and all evil has its true central source which is the devil. So, when people do bad, they are not evil themselves, but they are in the grips of, and corrupted by evil desires. That's why it is said to hate the sin, but not the sinner. Bcuzthey are entrenched and corrupted by sinful nature n desire, but that is not who they are.
Unconditional love sees beyond ones bad behavior. Ask most any parent who has a child that they love.
This is why Jesus says to love thy enemy. Bcuz, they are lost, and they desperately "need" love.
If love is what is most important to you, then bcum a Christian.
If enlightenment is what is most important to you to you, then bcum a Buddhist, (or Hindu).

You have chosen the perfect path for your moral, social and spiritual journey called life. Know yourself and your purpose of life. Be your own light. You are responsible for your happiness and sorrows. Every thing and every one in this world is interdependent. As such there is no scope for being selfish and harming others. Harming others means harming self. Supporting others means supporting yourself. There is a law of cause and effect. Whatever you do, that has to have a consequences. Good cause will bring good consequences. Bad causes will bring bad consequences. Meaning of life is to be happy and to give happiness. That’s Buddhism ❤️🙏

Indeed I agree, and many don't seem to see the problem with crediting / blaming an external agency for personal problems /accomplishments. Often Christians will object that they own their faults / sins, but they thank God for whatever good they have in their lives when in reality they created both and own what is bad and disown what is good due to a distorted sense of self.
Buddhism also teaches that there is a solution to the problem of suffering (Four Noble Truths), not merely that life is suffering, though that is the reality we start with.

Christians' belief is blind. That is why they thank god for the good they enjoy and own all the sufferings. Hi Jemima, your video got linked in a FB Buddhist group I was in and I ended up watching it. Great to hear you've been finding benefit from studying Buddhism and feeling happier in life!
Just a few things I wanted to highlight that can be common misconceptions within Buddhism: - 1st Noble Truth, "Life is suffering". It sounds like you got a very positive interpretation from this, however in the West Buddhism has sometimes been called a pessimistic religion because of this teaching. However the context of this teaching is important. Buddha never said all of life is suffering. He said certain things are suffering - ageing, sickness, death etc. However as you address the cause of suffering and eliminate that, what you discover is an underlying core happiness. The teachings go:1) Yes there is suffering in life.2) Here is the cause of suffering 3) Yes it is possible to eradicate suffering by eradicating the cause4) Here is a way to do it (eightfold path).
The idea is that as you begin to find the causes of suffering and eradicate them internally, what you are left with is happiness as your basic nature. Even though the teachings talk about suffering a lot, the underlying assumption is hugely optimistic - that you have a basic goodness, a core sanity within you naturally. So yes accept suffering as you say, but it's important also to investigate what are the actual causes of (mental) suffering.
The second point I wanted to say is that in Pali/Sanskrit and Tibetan (the main languages the Buddhist texts were originally written in), there's actually no word for 'religion'. The word religion comes from the Modern/Western world and was used to describe the Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam). When Westerners learned about Buddhism, they threw it into the same category as 'religion' becaus that was the closest word they had to describe it. Buddhism is more like a combination of religion, philosophy and also a first-person science (of the mind).
These points don't come from me but from my Buddhist teacher Alan Wallace. I hope they are relevant! May you continue flourishing and discovering greater meaning in your life :-).
    Liam

I am a buddhist Sri Lankan. The word 'suffering' is not hundred per cent correct to define the word 'dukkha'. 'Dukkha' is anything out of enjoyment. All the enjoyments in the world comes to an end. That is like if we throw something to the sky it will be sure to come back to the earth. That is why buddhism says 'the world is situated on dukkha.

I have always had the same questions, if there was no sin in the world before Eve ate the fruit then how was she able to sin against God to eat it? How can God sit back and throw his children into hell because they lived in a country where they never even heard of him? Like you said with the dinosaurs too. I know someone has to be there to put souls in us and for the after life but the bible is very confusing with a lot of holes in the story.

    • @coopergates9680

Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, and a God is not an exception. The Christian God knows in advance who's going to hell, whether a serpent will tempt Adam or Eve to do something, knows that Lucifer will rebel and fall, etc. etc. all kinds of stuff that goes wrong in those stories is God's fault.
More generally, sin is something against God's will, so it's just manipulative to create people with the plan of them turning against God, only to punish them. A God creates sin by definition. If there's no God, there's no sin.

Ironically if Jesus taught anything it was to follow his words not his person to get to G-d. Christians reverse this to make it about a the Person of Jesus and ignore his teaching.

There's wisdom to be found in alot of religions. Some Christians want to blind you to that.
One of the most powerful experiences I had was watching a Taoist master on youtube about a year ago talk about his practice, and it made me wake up to that reality as somebody raised a Christian. If peace, happiness, gentleness, compassion, are wrong, I don't want to be right. In the western world, our ideologies often make us choose a life of stress, for no reason other than to fulfill ancient myths that other people manipulate against us to our detriment.

Asian culture is very submissive, and they pray to their gods, and they do it with such humility and submission,so I tried the same thing in my religion and GOD himself has revealed so much to me, he likes Submission...I guess all this sub and Dom business amongst couples are very popular as well, even people are realizing submission not being Proud and haughty is a great humbling tactic. and ' HUMAN LIFE IS'
BUDDHA SAID " Just as a drop of dew on the tip of a blade of grass will quickly vanish at sunrise and will not last long, so too, Bramins ( lay people ), human life is like a drop of dew. It's limited and fleeting; it has much suffering, much misery.
One should wisely understand this, one should do what is wholesome and lead the spiritual life, for non who are born can escape death.

Unfortunately, Buddhism can’t answer many of my questions about creation of the universe, morality, destiny and the purpose of life.

I think christians believe in first humans as adam and eve, Buddhists believe more in science. There is no first birth. We started as smalllest organisms with very small conscious, and as evolution happened so did evolution of the consciousness. Gods are helpless celestial creatures, much helpless than humans. Because humans can try to reach nirvana. If u have further questions would love to help. Furthermore, for the truth about our existence read books on abhidharma. May the triple gem bless you.

So, I was so fearful and devastated at the beginning and accidentally had a chance to read few things about Buddhism on you tube and gradually listened more , and more , finally I spent about 15 hours a day to find out more , so we are literally locked down 3-5 months on first phase , second phase 1 month and now 3 one ,probably will be till March mean almost 3-5 months , so I’m full time Buddhist now , transformed my life , learning about Buddha made me strong and positive, and I’m very relax now . So, it completely change my attitude and hopes for tomorrow, I read and lot of sutta and do meditations and yoga too , it helped me so much . I’m really delighted 😁 . I try to learn deepest possible and if I had a chance to tell others about the Buddha and help them out .

Just watching you and hearing you speak gave me chills of positive energy. Do not get me wrong I love Christian but Buddhism is something in different level. You must read or listen Bob Thurman if you really want to get to the advance level of buddhism!

Wow, it’s great that people do recommend bob thurman. He is a truly a western master/scholar of Buddhism, and I personally feel he has some level of realization. Tibetan Buddhism is based on the Sanskrit tradition of Buddhism, pretty complex for avg westerner.

Adam and eve weren't created before animals according to the Bible in Genesis 1. The church you went to is definitely not a place you should go back too.

Buddhism is actually the most peaceful and most tolerant religion/practice of all them and they don't judge on any thing but what you do that is bad

I went to an Anglican school and you are an inspiration to some name sake Buddhists in Sri Lanka who really have no understanding of the value of Buddhism and sell their religion for money etc. You showed that buddhism is the one true religion which accepts all as one and also doesn't force the people to believe in a made up force.

    How Dharma changed my Life...
    Author:Anim Choeney Dolma.
Everyone admired on my beauty when i was young and in my school days. It was from all the direction that i get many proposals and letters for adoption. Yet,just to smile and laugh would often make them happy as many boys cheer's upfront of their firends.
I was also an average student who always scored pass marks and that took me till grade ten when i finally became paralyzed for rest of my life. My beloved mother who cared me always cried for my unfortunate ill luck. Visiting hospital would be equivalent to going toilet rather it started adding more pain every day and night.
This took so long till the end of year when my board exam finally was on door step. Writing with a paralyzed hand was another problem when myself is with fear of not qualifying for higher studies. I managed somehow for my exams and i was permanently bedridden for whole winter. At that moment, i learned our life is impermanent and everything that surrounds us are all impermanent. What helps us after all is only dharma. Believing on Bhuddha, Dharma and Sangha is only our friend after all.
Keeping that in mind, i started to get blessings and teaching from a teacher who teaches monks in our locality. Practicing Dharma was tought but doing regularly and praying teaches us a lot in depth.
One evening, after my regular prayer i walked slowly to my bed and when i started doing meditation keeping Buddha in my mind, a monk dressed man came by my side asking me to be nun for the rest of my life to enjoy as normal without sickness. I suddenly opened my eyes but could see nothing. This took my decision in my family to be a nun. They are indeed happy when i suggested.
After being in a nun for almost 3 years, My God!my body gradually started to be normal as if the nails are out one by one. Now i am back to my usual and i can do everything for my self and for the santient beings. If i was not a nun, i might be in the suffering world like before.
If you have faith on Dharma, there is always a blessing. Have faith and keep on praying. Blessings are always your.

Don't take the easy road. Mindfulness, compassion, etc is all this video talks about. That and more is what Believing in God is. Now you chose buddhism, now you are by yourself. You have to depend on your self, on your thought to solve everything. But christians are not by themselves, they have the love of Jesus Christ in their soul guiding them. They have Jesus who died for them. You know what is amazing that regardless of your faith Jesus Christ loves you and died for you, despite your unfaithfulness in him. Who does that??? Does your Buddha or buddha god, I don't know know me? Did he die for me? Don't take the easy road. Pray. Read

Each religion has a big following. That is proof that they both work in providing spiritual solace to their respective followers . If it works for you, enjoy the ride.
