Buddhas core teaching is compassion and non violence to every centennial being. So as Buddhists we don't need to look into Lord Jesus Christ to learn about kindness and compassion. But I think Lord Jesus Christ was a very kind, kind and compassionate religious person according to his teachings.🙏

@@vision2096 That's what I mean, it's believed Jesus studied many beliefs and pulled wisdom from each. When I say Buddhists live "in line" with his teachings, I don't mean they follow him. He followed them and today's Christians don't. I'm atheist by the way, I follow no religion but I love the Buddhist philosophy. I've always lived my life with peace, but I was born here among Christians who love anything but peace. They love war and destroying anyone who isn't them. I didn't want to go dark in my original post. Thank you though for your reply.

@@chessnut991I do understand what you are trying to say. I don't think it's anything to do with Christianity, that makes people or leaders in a country to go into wars. It's purely out of ignorance and fear of losing a country's identity or place. You can find bad people in every religion, caste, race and ethnicity. It's nothing to do with where you come from or the colour of your skin. I think every faith promotes love, kindness, compassion and good morals. It's the religious leaders who contaminate the teachings. That is also out of ignorance, fear, greed and selfishness to keep their faith in power or validity. On the other hand there are a lot of Christian missionaries who help the needy without prejudice. It's good to have these kind of civil conversations. I am a South Asian, living in a western country. It's the white people who helped me and my children to get up on my two feet, when we were in a very vulnerable situation. They didn't see my skin colour or my race. My own people abandoned me. So there are bad apples in every race, religious group and ethnicities. Blessings to you 🙏❤️

Mind and brain are two different points of reference and Jesus is are neurons surrounding Adam and Eve left and right brain. The Christ is term it's a chemical reaction in the brain. I was raised in the Catholic Church but fell away as a sinner. I found my Christ consciousness years later after studying other religions and practicing certain yoga and meditation. The most powerful thing you can do is to live consciously in everything you do. I gave up the outside world as much as I could. Be very conscious of what you consume whether that be food, drink, drugs, media, relationships, conversations etc. A key would be to become extra sensitive in this over stimulated world we live in. Once I did this, amazing things started to happen to me and veils that covered my eyes were removed. For myself it actually brought me back to the church. I wouldn’t worry so much about switching the outside as much as working from within. This will automatically change you on the outside regardless. But in this state you will know what to do.
Conscious living, doing what you’re capable of doing, fasting, meditation, prayer, discipline. 🙏

Jesus said some profound things. Some things that I believe is very true. But also some terrible things. Christianity and the Bible has some very deep problems and flaws that makes many very cruel, from the fear of eternal punishment. Buddhism does not have the same problem. It is not a problem to be "a little bit Buddhist". But being "a little bit Christian" is a big problem. People who are a little bit Christian, spread Christianity through the good parts.
There are, today, more and more Christians who spread that every other religion is from Satan. They say that Buddhism is Satanism because Buddhists worship themself. It has become so dogmatic that it has become useless. No matter how wise and loving Jesus may have been.

    A little fun fact:
Siddhartha sat under the fig (Bodhi) tree meditated for 49 days (fasting?). Jesus went into the desert and fasted for 40 days. In both cases, they overcame the demon (in their mind?) and attained spiritual awakening, found "Nirvana" in the case of Buddha, "Kingdom of God" by Jesus. Perhaps, the difference in the choice of words/phrase, were due to the language of the social/cultural norms, understanding etc., in those ancient time.

The story from India goes that Jesus spent many years in India as a young man, and was forced to leave. Apparently the religious leaders were so incensed at his dismissive attitude to established norms that they wanted to have him killed, and he fled back to the middle east. Here, too, he so angered the powers that be he was sentenced to death. Only appearing to be dead, he was removed from the cross after only six hours. After being revived, he was smuggled back to India where he died an old man. So it makes sense that the heart of his teachings dovetails with Buddhist and Hindu spiritual practices.

But a person perishing for his friends (all of his disciples escaped, and one was exposed as a fraud) is always admirable, yes? But the idea of taking on the past, present and future karma of others since the dawn of existence is not only unjust but unlikely. Nonetheless, I admire most of your Christ of St Mark very much. It is your St Paul and your Gospel of John that I find highly improbable and ethically and morally unsound. But I am sure you could say the same of our Tathagata, yes?

Jesus and Buddha are dear to me. To me they represent Bhakti and Jnana Yogis, Jesus being centered around Bhakti, love and devotion towards oneness and Buddha being centered around Jnana, meditative absorption towards oneness. The balance between Embracing all things and Letting Go of identity and notions of things. Emptiness I feel can be paralleled to the vastness of God, where emptiness is form and form is emptiness, God/Brahma and true reality is beyond name and form. God is vast, as the expansion of the infinite cosmos and within all things that we relate to the 18 realms of phenomena (6 senses, 6 sense objects and the 6 consciousnesses between them which is also empty and therefore are not separate self entities). You can find aspects of Bhakti and Jnana in both teachings. The common ground between the too can be found in the golden rule. Treating others both friend and enemy as you would treat yourself is the expression and experience of Inter-being. I and the father are one ❤

Hi Matt! Thank you for this video! You have summarized so beautifully what I think/feel/believe. (Yet again…).
I was born and raised in very catholic country. I was always searching though… I kind of ended up “dismantling” my “preconditioned” understanding of Christian faith. But I could not abandoned Jesus and his teachings. I have red Bible, and I tried to read it through my own “lens” of understanding things. I could love Jesus more that way. My spiritual search did not end though. I have ultimately “landed” in Buddhism. I felt I “needed” more active “tools” for my spiritual growth. Buddhism was the answer for me. I was able to achieve SUCH spiritual progress as a human, I was not able to achieve with teachings of Catholic faith. I did not stop loving Jesus though. I always saw him as LOVE on Earth. Interestingly, I think I can say that path of Buddhism helped me to be a better Christian as well :))
So again, Thank you! And Thank you for the other videos as well!!

@@BuddhasWizdom Oh, thank you for your words Matt! I truly appreciate your response. I could not agree (again) more with what you wrote.
Universal Love - that is exactly what kept me going trying to find a path that offered no judgment but personal growth, acceptance and love not only for self but in benefit of others. I know I know, Christianity supposedly offers the same, but I just could not embrace the dogma. It just often did not make sense.
After watching this video I realized that I see Buddha and Jesus as spiritual brothers. Connected, not separate, definitely not opposite.
Anyways… I actually thought of something right now - would you consider deep diving on the topic of Three Poisons and maybe also explaining the role of Deities in Buddhism? Like Red Garuda, Chama the Loving Mother and such. I found that people not necessarily understand their role in our teachings. For example, my husband is an atheist and he just found it funny that I pray to Big Red Bird. HaHaHa. So just a thought, or two. :) No pressure!
Again, thank you for your reply to my comment!!! Made my day!

I am not going to say this correctly, but I'll try. What Christians think and what Christianity has become, is very different than the teachings of Jesus. The teachings are very personal, narrow is the path, a tree is judged by its fruit, we can do better, we heal ourselves, over and over again, Jesus called us away from the church and towards the narrow path within us all (single be your eye). He died not for our sin (the moon goddess) but for his belief in the sovereign individual and not the sovereignty of the ruling class be they the bankers, church or state.

Thanks. Very very good TH-cam channel. To me, as good as Seeker to seeker !
As a christian who also practice in Soto Zen tradition, i am very touched by this kind of speculations about the deep meaning of these spiritual paths, even if i have doubt about some aspects. One of them for instance is karma. As far as i know, Jesus never talked about this notion in the Gospel. When he heals, (paralytic in Béthesda), he's saying that this men is not suffering because of his sins, but in a certain way to manifest "the Glory of God".
Immortal soul, God as person (manifested in the Holy Trinity) hell, damnation (Jesus talked a lot about hell, procession, demons), are other particularity that can be pointed as conceptual différences (The Bouddha also talk about hell in Dhammapada).
I think Thomas Merton wrote very interesting things about Christianity and Buddhism, especially Zen.
It is a interesting approach anyway and yes, we can affirm that when Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindous realize this indescribable peace related by many mystics or masters, there is a common experience. But to me it is a absolutely necessity to avoid "new age ease", and these kind of "spiritual ego market", which does not seem to be the case for this channel.
    best regards

John 8:12 Jesus says " I am The Light of this world". The Buddha was frequently called "So Dipa Lokasya", or " The Light of the world", Pali " So Dippo Lokasya". The radical etymon forming "buddha" is 'bho', or " light", Greek 'pho', the popular greeting Buddhists and Brahmins addressed to each other.
In Matthew, Jesus is said to cite a fable of Aesop when referencing a wolf in sheep's clothing (Matt 7:15). One Buddhist jataka has more agreement with Matthew than Aesop as, like Matthew, the wolf is explicitly described as a religious huckster. In JESUS' GODAMA SOURCES I have covered two other Buddhist jatakas quoted by Jesus that are said to reference Aesop's fables but have closer verbal agreement with the Buddhist versions.
Right after the last verse quoted in Matthew, Jesus asks "do you gather grapes from thorns? Figs from thistle?". This is like the reoccurring Buddhist question "can rabbits produce horns": used frequently to convey the ridiculousness of looking for things that conditions wouldn't permit to come into existence. A similar Buddhist line for these people is the accusation that they are like those who "cook sand in hope of getting cooked rice".
One telltale sign that the Christian versions are dependent on the Buddhist versions is that multiple forms of of the Buddhist versions exist within a larger Indian context compared to a single Gospel version.
"A man winnows his neighbor's faults like chaff: his own he hides, as a cheat the trick die from the gambler." -Dhammapada.
"Why do you see the speck in your neighbour’s eye, but do not notice the log in your own eye?" Matt 7:1-5
"Let none find fault with others; let none see the omissions and commissions of others. But let one see one’s own acts, done and undone." - Dhammapada verse 50
Take the pestle from your own eye, and then take the mote from another’s.” -Marathi. “The blind of one eye perceives not the film on her own eye but sees the speck on another’s.” -Hindustani.“The defects in the eyelash are not apparent to the eye.” -Tamil proverb. “They know not their own defects who search for defects in others.” - Sanskrit saying. “The sieve with a thousand holes finds fault with the basket from which the grain is sifted.” -Behar.“ The sieve says to the needle, ‘You have a hole in your tail.’” ―Bengalese.―The Antiquity of Proverbs, p. 263.

One of the characteristics of a Bodhisattva is the willingness to sacrifice their own limb or life for the sake of others.
Once Gautama Buddha was a Bodhisattva in his past lives. He was a sage who lived in the jungle. One day, he saw a tigress that had just delivered her cubs. Since she had just delivered her cubs, she didn’t have the power to find food and tried to eat her own cubs to cure her hunger. The Bodhisattva saw this and felt pity for the cubs, deciding to sacrifice his own life by jumping of the cliff to the point where the tigress lived. This level of sacrifice is extremely difficult for ordinary minds; only Bodhisattvas, those who aim to become future Buddhas, can do it. Jesus sacrificed himself for the sake of others, exemplifying the true actions of a Bodhisattva. Infinite compassion without discrimination is the essential characteristic of Bodhisatva.
As a Buddhist, I truly believe that Jesus is a Bodhisattva.

Apply Newton's third law to your life, what he says? "every action there is an equal and opposite reaction", 2500 years ago Load Buddha said the same thing "Hethupala Dharma" which means Karma or Karma birth and Die with a reason, he said us to think out of the incidents, their might be several reasons with verities of perspectives, but we mastered always only think one way in this Samsara, so we do the same thinking again and again, he told us to think different, see various ways, the ability comes through lots of practice, experience teachings or learnings .
Do you know why Jesus' hand has to hit with screws by the people? what is the reason? when you asked that question in your mind, if you built your meditation, it will give you answer, because in this Samsara he has given a pain to another Bodhisattva in another life. Then you must ask yourself, do that so? is he can be a bodhisattva? the answer is "NO", because Bodhisattva has not given any pain to anybody when he started his journey. He has the power to be enlightened himself, but he think of others who suffers in this Samsara, so that only chance he given willingly to the world system, and he started to walk on the earth step by step ever since.
    Buddha and Bodhisattva is like a King and King's son or heir to the throne. There are millions of rules we do not understand of this subjects. Bodhisattva can verified by a Buddha. So Gauthama Siddhartha did not told Jesus has the power of a Bodhisattva. He didn't say that, but Buddha can see infinite possibilities of future, present and past, while Buddha was remaining silent, but he said there is another Buddha, but he is not a God or any other kind of soul. He is special the soul built by this environment and trained uncountable Kalps of times. So do not judge with a name of this era and compare Jesus to Bodhisattva, Jeasus is a legend, but not a Bodhisattva, you do not have enough data to judge in this world,;
if you want to see the truth, you need to build up your mind using meditation.
Why I am saying this, Look Ants, small insects, but you need to remove "time" magic on your mind, then you will see these are all humans but they had done bad things, and their soul power become very low. So they have to birth and die in million times. For an example Dog's breath, see how faster than Humans, and the dog lives in 10 years or 20 years of human life .Even when you see Artificial Intelligence, you must started small programs, and then you consider the bigger programs like AI robots. The same way our soul has been made by the environment. Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Soul is another element which is being remained silent. Only Buddha told how to control it, he knows how to open the mind, and see that people cant see, and he saw inside the soul has facts which suffers a lot,
there are nine facts, but I will take one : "sexual desire"
Jeasus had these nine facts, but he was remain silent, because he built his own power, which is a negative power of environment, doing that, he suffers a lot in the end of his life, why ? he never understands this nature law of earth or system or whatever you called this system. We called it "Dharmathawaya" - in Sinhala Language.
    Example:
IN Dc universe Flash has positive power, but reverse flash wants to be a flash, or a good person, but he cant, because he never understood that. These imaginary stories built by humans, but there are facts that people can use to understand actual reality. But you have to learn Buddha's teachings, only then you will see things differently, and will be able to see the nature of the law by learning Dharma.
Bodhisattva once said "You are the one who drew the picture in Art book, you are the one who colours it, but you die in that moment, in next life you see the same picture, but you did not understand you drew it, you blame it to the system, or the god or mother or father etc, but you did that Karma, and you are unable to understand, this will be iterated unless you realised you are doing it. and you have to make it stop, nobody can help you, only you can do it".

Thank you for your deeply philosophical comment and for drawing parallels between different spiritual teachings. Your reflections on the laws of karma, the nature of suffering, and the path of the Bodhisattva offer a lot to consider. It's fascinating how you connect these concepts with broader narratives and theories, even extending into areas like science fiction and the natural world.
Regarding your discussion about Jesus and the Bodhisattva, it highlights an important point about spiritual figures and their roles within their respective traditions. It's true that in Buddhism, particularly in the Mahayana tradition, the role of a Bodhisattva is defined by a commitment to achieving enlightenment not just for oneself but for all beings, and this is seen as a path filled with compassion and devoid of causing harm.
Your analogy involving characters like the Flash and the Reverse Flash creatively underscores how actions and their intentions can lead to different spiritual outcomes, similar to the teachings of karma in Buddhism.
The story of the art book you mention is a powerful metaphor for personal responsibility and the understanding of karma. It's a reminder that often, we are the creators of our own experiences through our actions, and realizing this can be the first step toward liberation.
Your insights are a valuable addition to our discussion, and they encourage all of us to delve deeper into these topics. We appreciate your engagement and look forward to exploring more of these concepts in our videos.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts and for being a part of our community.

@@BuddhasWizdom How are you Peter? 😊Beautiful, that is a good compliment,. Okay I will have to say few words, First, we have to understand why Buddha and Bodhisattva characters needs to this world. Every system in this universe has a procedure or system based on these few facts : "Input, process and Output"; unfortunately, we are staying in the state of process[ some might understand, some might not, some might not interest, some are believing what they are really belief in the past, and not interest or afraid to think out of the perspective. Because some might think God will kill,] "No". 😊
In Buddhism, Load Buddha and few Rahath Bikkus can understand world system, and how it works and who runs positive side, and negative side, basically good and bad. Everything has their own system, Buddha told this written in Thripitaka, "everything based on reasons , actions and consequences" : Sinhalese called this "Hethupala wadhaya : හෙතුඵල වාදය".
As a human, we cannot understand why we are living here in this earth, birth, die, illness, why this is happening?, some might fight, some countries fight, and lead to a World War 4 or 3. Why?
In questions religions will answer this :
Christianity answer : God's Wishes, or desire.
Other religions answer : God's desire or wishes.
Buddhism : Everything is based on reasons, and their doings, actions, , desires, needs , wants, decisions, hate, frustrations leads to these incidents,(Sufferings).
Buddhism not only religion, it has a vision, goal to show you, why you are living in this world? Why Birth, Why Die? Why cant you stay forever without dying, grown...Why cant you achieve the output while you are living.
Do you know Sariputta or Buddha or any other Rahath Bikkus, or Arahat Bikkus can control Die, grown?. It is possible. But you need to let go the attachments on your mind, it has so many facts, and it has so much research you have to dive into, so I will let you do that.
      Buddhism is a massive subject.
Why am I saying this? Once Buddha grab some leaves to his hand and asked Sanga or Bikkus " Sanga, Do you know how many leaves on my hand? When you compare the leaves on the trees in this world, and my hand, What is the larger amount of leaves in this two scenarios". Sanga Replied "Load Gauthama Buddha, leaves on the trees are the larger". Buddha replied again" Sanga, my teachings that I taught you are the amount of my hand, but there are many Dhamma that I did not taught you is like the leaves on the trees in this world". "Sanga replied : Amen which means "Sadu".
I will Continue to write on your channel and give my thoughts comments, Thanks for welcome me to your Family.😊
      Warm Regards,
      Sadun.

While they shared many traits in common, I think both were on their own spiritual path and their respective followers have molded their narratives into Christianity and Buddhism.

There is a gap of 500 years between the 2 masters teachings and I believe that Jesus is adapting the philosophy of buddhas teaching to create his own philosophy. Buddhist believes that 1).To end suffering is one’s own action, path and understanding. We cannot rely on others for salvation. 2). All forms are impermanence including our physical body. To resurrect after death does not send the right signal to Buddhist teachings. 3). If Jesus is a Bodhisattva who have such great influence to the world population, we believe that there must be some indication by Gothama Buddha during his time or in his scriptures. He has introduced many Bodhisattva and Buddhas of the past and future but not anything on Jesus. We strongly believe that Jesus teachings might have some similarity with Buddhism but he is not a Buddhist Bodhisattva. Buddhist Bodhisattva teachings will always lead us to the ultimate, that is to attain Buddha hood.

Beyond beautiful, as it is all our story, together we all form 'GOD' if you will,
they show us we to can do this.

Well, I´ve been a monk in Thailand for some 5 years, learned the Pali script and lived this path of the Buddha in the deepest jungles and caves of Thailand. There it is more or less the Theravada Buddhism, though my personal master, or better said his soul originated from Tibet, and is teaching the way to the Boddhisadtawa more than the for the Theravada more common way to the Arahandt.
The exact status of Jesus´ soul is nowadays very difficult to figure out, but some voices consider Jesus´ path rather the path of an "Arahandt", which is kinda divided in four pre-stages, Sodaban, Sagitithakhami, Anakhami and then finally the Arahandt. This pre-stages are stages kinda every living human being can aim for to secure the entry into Nirvana within the next few upcoming lives, a Sodaban will be reborn only 7 more lives, an Anakhami will be reborn only once, to then become an Arahandt in that next life.
And it is a quite easy system to understand, every stage has its pre-state, the convinced and passionized will to finish... and the final arrival at this goal.
A Sodaban has to get rid of his/her desire for all kinda wealth, tastes, beauty and kinda learn to sacrifice things that he/she calls his/her own for the sake of others, has to put away this craving for one´s own sake and more or less the sexual desire, as much this for lay people is possible.
A Sagitithakhami (or however they would write that 😋 ) has to get rid of all kinda bad moods, like anger, wrath, stress, vengeance and all that stuff.
An Anakhami has to put away all still left, let´s call it "stupidity", if you pardon me for this harsh sounding word for such highly developed human beings, but even themselves would call it that, it is the point where these people start to really be able to control every single thought of them with highly aware mindfullness. Those people will be able to suffer severe physical pain without an attached mind, since they watch every single second of pain as just one single second that comes and goes away, as natural it just can occur.
As you see, are these pre-stages divided also in the amount of rebirths, 1, 3, 5 and 7, and sometimes they are kinda melting together between the one accomplished stage and the next pre-stage.
Well, some say that Jesus finally not died at all and then went either back to somewhere in the Himalayan mountains, or some say even Japan, but if we now take one variation of Jesus´ story, that Jesus really died on the cross, the fact that Jesus will allegedly reborn at some day to THEN reach eternal bliss, then it rather lets conclude that he was an Anakhami who will be reborn only once to then gain the "Arahandtship".
The reason why at some places Jesus is more considered as an Anakhami than a Boddhisadtawa is because a Boddhisadtawa would not really put himself in front to be looked at as "the salvation", there is less "ego" in that path, a Boddhisadtawa would surely not have cried out loud... "God, forgive them, because they don´t know what they are doing", but would just hung there with the smile of a Buddha.
Therefore they consider Jesus having been kinda at the stage of an Anakhami on the entry while he was caught by the Romans, who then just before his death, or during his death entered the state of being able to absolutely being mindful at this point of time and become an Anakhami, to be reborn only once again.
Boddhisadtawas are a bit more difficult to attain, they require more "pre-lives" than just 7, Sitthartha, the actual Buddha, the fourth in world´s history, had 10 pre-lives in which he had to "solve" various quests in every single life, the very pre-life of the actual Buddha i.e. was to be born as Wasandorn, who sacrificed every single thing in his life from beginning to the end, even when being asked by a greedy merchant for his wife and children he gave them away to fulfill this quest... to be then rewarded in the end with double, a story that makes me think very much about Joob in the Bible. This pre-lives of a Boddhisadtawa can include some very hard quests, one that comes into my mind now was that one Boddhisadtawa had to cut off the own head as a sacrifice, since the Buddhaship is even worshipped by the Gods, all those celestial beings, whether one now calls them Annunaki or Hindu Gods or whatever, they came down to get taught by the Buddha, even those celestial beings have realised that their lives are a big suffering and that the Buddha offers an exit to this.

I am a believer of Christ and may by the blessing of god I forever be. Jesus Christ is like my parent, he is set deep within my heart. However, I don’t really like how Christianity sometimes tries to manipulate his teachings of salvation. Jesus Christ is kind and compassionate and did everything for the sake of mankind. I don’t believe that he would be selfish enough to say that to follow his teachings only. That is why i consider Buddha as my guru.
So in short, Jesus is like my parent, to whom I submit all my devotion, and Buddha is like my Guru whose teachings i deeply follow.
I know that there can be many contradictions between the teachings of Lord Jesus and Buddha, for example, Jesus taught that there is only life and after that there will be heaven or hell. Buddha believed and taught about rebirth and multiple births. To be honest, i believe in heaven and hell as Jesus taught. This is why i practice secular Buddhism rather than traditional Buddhism which allows me to focus on present life and not to worry about what will happen after.

The way is the way of desire. The subtlest impulse to life. Desire is all there is within the flow, it is an endless river of passion. Sensuous to the human touch and our desires are easily entangled in wants and needs. Complexities of belief and ignorance.
Materialism is nothing more than giving a name to new forms of uncertainty and lack of understanding. Nature radiates the power of unity and we will learn nothing taking everything apart and making a fuss about all the pieces. Materialism is the illusion of something and nothing. An enquiry into the nature of corruption, through our own misguided lives. Life is not material, it is a signal, a transmission every atom and fractal is mirroring
Wants and needs are endless needing and wanting that reaches no satiation. Noble desire is an endless dream of awakening, coming to our senses, focussing, and flowing in effortless ways. A desire of getting closer to the source, where all rhings fall into place and move with the grace of synchronicity.
