After the background specific prologue, the Rescue is the first main story mission of Cyberpunk 2077. Jackie and V are tasked with infiltrating a scavver hideout and rescuing a woman named Sandra Dorsett.
But after rescuing Sandra and progressing through the story we’ll be contacted by her again for another side quest. It’s at this point we can discover that perhaps Sandra was specifically targeted because of something she knew... specifically some shady NightCorp AI research that she uncovered on the net. We discover this information during the quest Full Disclosure if we hack into Sandra's databank and read the datashards in her apartment.

I get the feeling that Sandra Dorset is going to lead into Phantom Liberty somehow...just a theory.
V does bring up a good question: How does someone like Sandra afford such a nice apartment and Trauma Team platinum coverage? Would've been nice to learn a bit more about her.
She's a corp, plus probably she could've done some dirty stuff for money before, like other ppl in the Night City.

@@arehtman3329 They operate in maximum secrecy. Canceling the Platinum before the kidnapping could have tipped her off if she noticed in time or if anything have gone wrong and somebody dug into that later it would look very suspicious. On the other hand just being kidnapped by a random gang and then her panic button not working due to virus was just "bad luck". Could happen to anyone really. ;)
No doubt a runner of her caliber knows exactly how to skim off the top of all the major corpos without them ever knowing.
I got the feeling Sandra’s story was closely tied to the Paralezes seeing as how her databank talks about mind control by corpus and then we find out later the Paralezes were subjected to the exact same thing

@@argentshrike516udy only recommended V to scroll the braindance because Perelaez wanted someone who had experience scrolling through raw BD. We don't know who recommended that security firm. Mr Perelaez said it was an acquaintance but could not remember who, since it was most likely erased from his mind.

That shows cdpr made a pretty bad job on implementing readable lore without overwhelming the player. I wanted to read every lore shard but the game hands them to you every single minute with 6,000 words per shard, ridiculous.

Seems the TL:DR is Don't F' around with Night Corp. Should be an interesting plot line to follow up on in the sequel. Even if you choose to cripple Arasaka, the hydra's head hasnt been revealed yet.
@@Ghost_Text I don't think its a hydra...I think its more like a pantheon of angry, jealous godlets that are using little people as pawns, for their own BS. Story wise, that makes our characters the "demigodlets" or children of the gods messing up their machinations, in the tradition of Hercules, Perseus, etc
Remember, the Greek Gods were always competing with each other, and their half human offspring were always messing up one or the others plans and fun.

It took me 3 playthroughs before I realised that Sandra's mission, The Peralez's mission & Garry the Prophet's mission were actually interconnected.....AGIs, mind alteration, links with Scavs & Maelstrom.....what is Night Corp up to?!?!
Well I am pretty sure that Night Corp is run by an AI.
It will blow your mind when you realize the Maelstrom Cyberpsycho one that was the ritual is also connected.

My over all theory on all of this is that before he died Rache Barttmoss created an AI that would bring down Arasaka and other corporations, get rid of the blackwall, and mikoshi, all in one fell swoop. That AI lored Johnny and V to its cause by using Alt's engram. But its ALSO the AI that Maelstrom have been trying to bring to the real world in a meat sack (human). All these other stories are chess moves that the AI has been making to ensure that it gets what it wants. Unfortunately, I get the sense that the AI doesn't care what level of damage it causes..and things will get MUCH worse if it succeeds.

Of course, I let Sandra keep her secrets, but after watching this it looks pretty likely that what she uncovered is related to stuff going on with the Peralezes. Johnny was right, there was an AI involved, but Night Corp was behind the AI.

I love that they follow up on this story. The world of cyberpunk has so much depth and I'm really happy to see people giving it another chance
This is one of the best stories in Cyberpunk 2077. I really loved diving into the lore and getting new context to missions and NPCs!! Say what you want about the technical failings of this game, but the storytelling in this game is *Elite* 🏆
This and the Peralez are conected
Sucks that she didn't get any more spotlight after this. Meredith got a smaller role and you could hook up with her. Sandra could have been an interesting crew member or romance opportunity.
I really need to replay this game and read through all the fine details like this. I just assumed Sandra was being paranoid, even after cracking the data bank, and just guessed she had PTSD which is why she didn’t want to trust V, but seeing that she is uncovering an actual conspiracy and knows that people are onto her puts the quest line in a completely different light, as I just only first took it as “paranoid corpos will just be paranoid corpos”
I always do a netrunner build (except that one time I built a gorilla arms tank lmao), and always wanted to do more with this conspiracy questline after gaining Sandra's trust by congratulating her in her fight against NightCorp. It's details like this in the game that made me fall in love with CP2077. There's more to these quests that definitely can be expanded on, either in expansions or sequels.
Every update makes it feel like a new game, I must’ve replayed through like at least 7 times all with different builds lmao guns, stealth, hack, fists. Can’t think of another game I can safely start a new character and not get bothered by the hours I spent on the last one because I just enjoy the ride lmao. Tbh, I wish they kept an option for you to save Jackie somehow. I get that they were trying to create a sense of urgency but it was honestly so wholesome going through buildings and clearing out scavs with the homie, there should be companions

It is how Arasaka works or how any other monopolized company that wants to silence any underlying failure in the company works. The same goes for the Peralez, they want to control the masses with beautiful faces like Jefferson.
Wish they did more with her story and even made her like a romance option since the game have a real finite number of them

4:30 Nightcorp hired the scavs to hit Sandra, but that was stopped by us, who were contracted by Trauma Team, who were there through Sandra's coverage, which she likely got through working at Nightcorp, the company trying to kill her.
That seems almost too plausible.
We were hired by kako, not the TT. Also she could've just bought Platinum membership.
One thing i thought of while watching is does this AI have anything to do with the peralez missions. since the AI is meant to "condition" a target, which is exactly what is happening to the peralez', does that mean nightcorp is behind the brainwashing and is trying to take control of night city from the shadows by controlling prominent figures?

I think that little virus you pick up from Sandra when you save her is what gets you on Mr. Blue Eye's radar to begin with.
I just did this quest today and it never occured to me that Sandra could be hiding something. I just thought her paranoia and beefed up security was a response to the trauma of being abducted and almost killed for her chrome.
Its a nice detail that Sandra's hair grown out a little since you rescued her. Assuming the scavs shaved her head to get to her brain cyberware easier.
I always use a melee build (LOVE those mantis blades!!) but I always kept her alive. Her attitude is annoying, but understandable under the circumstances, and I actually *support* what she's trying to do 🤔
Would’ve been cool if they made her a romantic option, but like if you go down the net runner build/path. If you do, you end up getting more dialogue with her and more Eddie’s for your trouble, so it would’ve been cool to see that stretched out more into an actual relationship. Plus would mean a lot with her being the girl you saved in the very beginning, then maybe she asks about Jackie and yea, would’ve been cool

@@r1pbuck very much so. I just saw the 2018 e3 reveal trailer showing all of the features, for the first time last week. Holy shit, so much was left out, definitely needed more time. I hope they are still gonna implement some of the things still, but probably not.
Damn never noticed this. Didn't even notice she was the same person from the start and just blackmailed her lmao. First playthrough I played pretty braindead but hopefully with NG+ soon I get to experience things like this again.

7:53 haha the first I did this quest and picked this route I instantly thought about Mass Effect when she talked about Leviathan and Cerberus. I even thought it was an easter egg but couldn't find anything specific, unless it was about the big looming threat and secrecy
check out that part when you shoot scavs throw your car, you have been followed by 3 black cars that looks identical to that one in the peralez mission

So many cool possibilities in NC, cant wait for the next cyberpunk game. Hopefully it will actually be an RPG rather then a stand alone story, not that the story is bad mind you, it's actually quite good, just wish I could forge my own story in NC rather then be apart of someone else's.
I think the actual target is probably a bit larger in scale. Maybe the population, Corpo leaders perhaps… The Peralez couple seemed a lot like a test bed to me… (one that came into fruition)
Sadly even if you help the Peralez it wouldnt have mattered. Theres so many more politicians that Night Corp is already working on as shown when hacking the data van.
Am I the only one who wanted this to be the start of a Sandra+V romance? Bonding over netrunning seems like the ideal way to start a romantic relationship 😉
I think everyone appreciates these deeper dives into the game's stories.
It was a later play for me when I cracked the Databank encryption and got a clue as to what was really going on. This whole situation makes me wonder if a much larger part for Sandra was planned. I also wonder if she will be a character in the Phantom Liberty expansion.
I wish you could fallow up with her. This storyline had so much potential, its a shame everything always had to be about Arasoka.
Wait for the sequel. I think the expansion is going to be focused on Militech, and I think the sequel will focus on Night Corp. I know Mike Pondsmith always hinted that the true story of Night City lies within Night Corp ...
I noticed you couldn't resist referencing ME when Sandra says Leviathan. That actually isn't a reference to anything by Cyberpunk though. Leviathan and Cerberus are two of the hardest hitting Icebreakers in Cyberpunk (and the original Netrunner CCG). They were part of my runner deck.
That's the answer to who's messing with the Perazales, Night Corp. Sandra said they could do it to anyone sounds like she would know.
Still, the moon thing doesn't match the puzzle. What those "human DNA or...?" concerns of her even mean?
That AI sounds suspiciously like what went after that mayoral candidate...
These small stories are great to find but it does sadden me that there is not much more than that. Everything we do in terms of the larger side missions leads somewhere down the main questline, sometimes you just want to stray really far away from that and see what happens, like in skyrim you have the dark brotherhood, would have been awesome find a secret netrunner gang and see them through their goals for a bit. (sort of like voodoo boys but not complete assholes)
well the main story is that u are dying limited on time and trying to find a solution so just running from the problem sounds like a bad idea ngl

Time sensitive main stories don't fit too well with open world games, they create a disconnect between world and main story.
Sure, let me do all these side gigs instead of actively looking for what I need to do to survive.
Witcher 3 had a similar issue early on because you are supposedly in a race to get to Ciri before the Wild Hunt does, but first let me play detective/monster hunter in a bunch of villages. It didn't feel as big of an issue in Witcher as it does in Cyberpunk where they constantly remind you that you are at death's door. Doesn't help that your current health depends more on the quest you are in rather than the time that passed making you seem closer to death in one mission than you are in the next
@@NanoNaps i totally agree and dont think cyberpunk 2077 is the masterpiece everyones says it is tbh. the worldbuilding is rly good tho and if they fill in all the gaps they left, project orion might be a masterpiece. i also hope the next one has an "ending" that lets u keep progressing afterwards or rather doesnt have a complete ending. the thing with reloading to before the meeting with hanako and also how slow ur level (compaed to street cred) and especially the attribute specific lvling is feels kinda off. not to mention how much i hate randomized loot especially for iconics...
That's the thing. Everyone is a complete asshole, that's Night City after all. The only honest people are the people working in it, but they typically don't have any grand schemes going, because well, they are honest people just working in someone else grand scheme. Like the typical fixers you work with, generally are alright people, but at the end of the day they are working from someone who is working for a corporation, even if they don't know it. The clueless mercs are the only honest people left.

If you wanna go into the limtied time, fully do it.
It would have been pretty fun if it had actually given you a time limit (though a VERY generous one)
And you could pop the blue pills to add time to it but debuff yourself for a while, or pop the red pills for the reverse, get a temporary buff and play as Johnny for a bit, but the timer drops faster for a bit

She's definitely the most interesting side character and it bums me out that she can't play a bigger part or even beva friend or romance for v.
Same here, she could have been a Corpo friendship/romance which the game didn't really have.
I don't count that Militech Corpo chick.
Carpe noctem is also mentioned during Garry sidequest that ends with Malestorm and some MIB meeting. Also Dorset notes looks like a tie to Garry's aliens talk.
Aaaand their(Malestorm with suits) dialog also might be tied to tarot card with wolves. Does it have ties to Mr Blue eyes quest? Maybe.
There is more to that storyline ingame and its aa-mazing.
Wakako calls Sandra the client during the first quest: "Is the client alive and well?". So she definitely had a contingency plan as you said.
Sandra Dorsett's story is one of the many loose, dangling threads in this game. Notice how V continues to have access to her apartment even after the final quest is complete? I wonder if she was intended to be come a relationship or even a romance for V. It wouldn't surprise me if she made an appearance in Phantom Liberty.
Oddly enough she did make a brief appearance during PL, during the betray songbird path. I chose Sandra to help me with that mission. Keeping her alive lets her assist you with extracting So Mi which is pretty neat tbh.

There's a few missions that allude to this. There's a mission where you help out a politician and it suggests that he's being mind controlled by a secret group of people. The more you look into the lore, it also suggest that cyberpsychosis is caused by those same secret groups of people and that even the food plays a role, in that it's made of cloned human flesh. It's known that cannibalism causes psychotic breaks with people, that combined with cyberware being not only easily hacked but encouraged to integrate within yourself, suggest that the general population is basically being controlled too.
I loved slowly figuring this out through my three playthroughs, started out as a solo Street kid and then became a ninja nomad and then finally the corpo Runner it all clicked in the third playthrough. Though I had a pretty good idea what was going on.
A real pity you cannot interact with Sandra after discovering the plot with the Peralez and the weird stuff about the Prophet.

I was chatting with a friend who claimed that he went back to Sandra's apartment and found her dead. Unconfirmed though since I've never done it myself. My current playthrough is as a Netrunner so I might try it myself this time through. Good video.

Just found that the Gig from Reyes "Family Matters" you get a shard with the same experiment notes. And a cyberpsycho girl that killed her sister in that basement of the house. Maybe this gig was connected to the Sandra Dosett case.
Sandra became hostile to me after I returned the databank for her even though I didn't crack into it.
Normally I crack into it and can go the congratulations route for dialogue.
Could this be related to the mayoral candidate and him being subtly changed?
I kinda wish this interaction could continue. Invite her to lunch. Befriend her. Maybe dig deeper into NightCorp’s conspiracy and undermine it. Be more than just a job. She clearly has been deeply scarred by the scav encounter.
Being a nomad during the maelstrom quest you tell militech how they are getting robbed, their radio frequency are compromised
It's as if you saw my comment on your Peralez video. Garry the prophet, Sandra Dorsett, and Peralez quests are linked. And I believe the story is not over.
Could be what they expand upon in the DLC, it will be a "spy thriller" afterall.

so glad I came back to the game after giving developers time to fix it there's so much story behind every action. even the tutorial mission had a deeper story that in itself could become a DLC good some players look for them & share what they find.
I literally got her second mission a few hours ago, this is my first playthrough and I was like "erm who is she....apparently I rescued her.....ok!" 🤣
I got to Sandra's place and I honestly couldn't remember if I tried to crack it or not. So I kept on denying the fact and she was like, "Uh huh, just go." So I did. 🤣

The game, side quests and the ncpd missions are HUGE, they all are connected to each other its insane. I keep finding new story lines after 400 hrs.
Sandra is best girl for me in CP. I was very disappointed that we couldn't romance her, especially after the teasing with the ARG.

my first playthrough, I was impressed by how good cyberpunk was running. no bugs except I think a T pose in the cinematic before the 1st mission....now I'm realizing there were so many missions I didnt get pinged for, thanks to my 2nd/3rd playthroughs and videos like this!
Apparently I got her databank and didn't realize I opened it. When I told her didn't I genuinely thought I hadn't but she got all pissed. I ended up killing her because she stiffed me on the pay.
Good stuff, dude. I recommend you add faint background music in future explanation/lore videos. It adds so much to it overall. :)
Interesting video. I have a theory I posted on another channel some time back that I will post here for thoughts. Sandra Dorset and 7 others in the game have rings, and each of these characters are having issues that go deep. Other notable members with the ring are Jefferson Peralez, Mr. Blue Eyes, General in the car when you complete a job for Regina Jones etc.
My theory is each person with the ring is under some type of control, and each person correlates to the mystery statues around Night City. That plan in some way is to allow AI to take over the city. I know it sounds odd but hear me out.
V when they jack into Sandra gets sick with a virus. This virus persists even in V after getting cleaned up by Vic. This virus is then spread through every interaction V jacks into, hacks, or even monitors from Delamain right before the Heist mission (Which causes Delamain to fracture into 8 different personalities) up to certain endings.
Johnny is not Silverhand but rather an AI and part of a virus that is spreading throughout the city... like RA.B.I.E.S. if you will.
With your missions and interactions, you are taking out every gang, all of the major corporations except for 3 (Night Corp, Kang Tao, and Militech) that I would consider a big thing.
You can find a crashed transport for Kang Tao that has a case that is open and something missing, while not so far away Militech is killing and cleaning up a group of homeless.
BartMoss created a virus that self-replicated and then is found dead and a notice to not open till 2055 or something.
What am I getting at here is the entire game is 1 giant woven story that you as the player are slowly killing off Night City with an AI virus upgrade version of RA.B.I.E.S. that when mixed with machinery it does what it can to kill people. In some cases, the system fights against itself, as seen in some of the offspring of Delamain, and the evolution of Jonny after the first night.
I think all with the rings are at some point not them but controlled by their AI self. I think Sandra much like multiple personality disorder was not aware she planted herself there to get captured by the scavs so she can spread the virus, how Jeffereson feels he is going crazy, how V blacks out and Johnny can take over, and I would assume Mr. Blue Eyes is an AI controlling a body. I think the only person that has overcome the virus is Garry the Profit and he tells you the entire storyline and game within the first few minutes of meeting him.
If you read up on Cyberpunk the tabletop game, it goes into how the cyber-psychos are potentially sentient machinery fighting for control of the body. This has been updated in Cyberpunk Red but is kind of touched on even in Edgerunner.
V pretty much also says it to Sandra at the end of the interaction if you're a netrunner. 7:59
Sorry I know this is long and written rather crazy. Trying to get it all down before work.
TL DR - Sandra (along with other ring wearers) unaware to herself is being controlled by an AI (AGI term in game) to take down Night City, which you as the player V (who is virused) are assisting in taking down any additional threats by interacting with machinery and technology all over the city.
"Carpe Noctem - seize the night"...
...and Cyberpunk's DLC is called Phantom Liberty. Anyone else see the correlation there?
Either way, I have a strong feeling the DLC will expand upon Sandra Dorset's story and it'll link with the Jefferson Peralez questline/Mr Blue Eyes
So, does this mean that Night Corp is not the one behind what is going on with the Peralez, and his wife, among others? Both are mind hacking, I guess is the best description, but Night Corp is currently looking at how to create new cyberpsychos, going by those shard entries. Which I think is a reference to the old and discredited MK Ultra project. I mean it is a "great" idea if one Corp wants to cause problems for another Corp by using their own employees as weapons against said Corp. I am not sure right off what fields Night Corp is involved in, but say they are competing with Arasaka for a contract, having an Arasaka employee suddenly go psycho and wipe out a valuable research team and then kill themselves is a perfect one-shot weapon to use.
Now I hope Cyberpunk: Orion makes Netrunning more awesome. Imagine having a choice of Leviathan, Cerberus, etc as additional options in our Ramdeck.
Like they could have different stats and give you different "default" programs seperate from our chosen Quickhacks.
Like Leviathan could have a Drown/Thirst ultimate causing the target to go rabid and choke on their saliva. Or another one called "Data Flooding" Streams a deluge of data into their ocuset/optics forcing them to produce an excessive amount of tears.
Cerberus could have "Heatwave" causing several targets to overheat
Shiva could have "Cold Snap"
forcing the user to suffer hypothermia by breaking their cyberware coolant containment.
Ixion or Zeus could cause Short Circuit to spread between multiple targets.
Throw in something like Diablos or for Control/Covert type hacks and Anubis for Contagion/cyberpsychosis type hacks
I like Sandra and her quest is really interesting if you pay attention!
Wonder if she'll come back in future DLC along with Jefferson, it seems like whatever this AI was that Sandra discovered is actively brainwashing Peralez's family.

She ends up dead anyway. Yoiu find her body when dealing with a NCPD alert on the north waterfront of city center, corpo plaza after she gets fired and locked out of her car and money and loan sharks get her.
This quest has more lore to it than you think. look at this quest and then look at the dream on quest line with jefferson and his wife. The two are linked and unfortunately don't have a satisfying ending in my opinion.
While talking to Peralez while Mr Blue eyes was watching us, a bunch of Delamain anouncements showed everywhere and that was so creepy. Also while doing the part of the mission when you're catching the dudes who try to escape to an invisible AV I found in the laptops a site to vote to merge Night City with NUSA, I didn't find that site in any other computer or at least didn't notice it before, so I think that quest will be related to the NUSA plot and the next DLC story.

This type of stories is the reason I love this studio, already in the Witcher 3 you had these quest were you felt like you just scratched the surface of another big story another charachter's life. We were already given lots of information that gives you the impression that these people arent NPCs and developpers gave a thought to every detail.
WAIT A MINUTE!!!! when i began roaming around for the first time the game, i remember seen the dead body of a corpo, randomly in the middle of the sidewalk, splashed blood all around him, obviously looked like he jumped form the building in that block, maybe that was the guy who snapped that Sandra was talking about in the tests and the conflict with the coffee! there´s nothing random in this game!!!
After watching your breakdown videos of all these side missions I feel like a total dumb a** for not noticing any of these things or linking them in my 1st play through.
Lol in 2 of my playthroughs I somehow must have accidentally opened her data bank because both times I delivered it to her she got mad and only paid me pocket change, so I killed her.
I ended up doing the same thing and killed her, too. The way she thinks she can get away with stiffing my cybered up V with Gorilla Arms and get away it just rubbed me wrong.
i feel like this loops back to the placide quest you made a video on that i watched recently. knowing this information, I feel siding with nightcorp is a mistake.

May I remind you that on the first hour of Witcher 3 you interact with a character that doesn't become relevant until the expansion? I feel (and hope) that Sandra, this project, along with Mr. Blue Eyes, Alt Cunningham and Jefferson Peralez will be key characters in the DLC.

I did too. It's easy to do if you do Regina's mission first and get the shard. You have no idea It's for another mission and just start decrypting and reading stuff in your inventory.

@tigrispanthera5496 Regina has a mission to retrieve an object from a person that she believes skipped town on her. I won't spoil too much, but it takes place in a Scav hideout. Sandra's databank is in the same building. So, if you do Regina's mission first, you can get it before Sandra calls you about it. If you don't get it, Sandra will send you back there to get it. The thing is, if you get it first without knowing it's hers, you'll probably open it. That's why she got pissed at me. I didn't know it was hers. I got it way earlier in the game.

You forgot there's a correlation also with what is happening to Jefferson Peralles with Mr Blue eyes being one of their A.I. and again Space is mentioned as during Path of Glory the AIs hire you to go to space and infiltrate the casino.
It's a shame so many of the side quests are so barebones, because the few that have meat on them are so good.

Always thought it was weird that, not only does she not show any signs of having her implants removed, she also doesn't appear to have that many implants for them to even rip from her. So why would they take her over some of the more obviously augmented? Still wonder about that other guy in the tub though, guy has even less cyberware...
Sooo. During this mission i have discovered that if you hack her turret and put it in friendly mode for yourself, it will start shooting at her. She will shoot back but will lose. Anybody have a answer why? She wasn’t my enemy. But also kinda funny. 😅
I like how this adds another element in the game, corps conspiring arasaka with the chip, militech with the brainwash of the Peraleze's, the net plaged with rogue AI's in the net being block by the black wall and Alt which I think does not have good intentions after the destruction of mikoshi, maelstrom basically being a satanist group, and other gang shenanigans, maybe fixers doing dirty stuff it just shows a lot of time put into showing the lore of Cyberpunk.

You know I absolutely love the Mass Effect connection. It would be cool if the worlds were in the same timeframe but that’s definitely impossible.🤣
