@@TunaonToastwithStryker I came here for fat Mike, but I'm definitely gonna check out your whole catalog now. You're really good at this! I'd love to see you interview Laura Jane Grace from Against Me. She's hella iconic and underrated. And most interviews I see with her are so focused on her being trans that they rarely get to anything interesting. Which is a huge disservice to her and her music. I think you could do a good one tho.:-) pls consider it.
Never get enough of fatty interviews. I've been a monster fan of nofx and fat mike since freshman year in high school. And still can't wait for them to put out new music.
Second time listening to this episode. Gonna miss NOFX😢❤. SO MANY GOOD TIMES, MEMORIES AND GREAT SHOWS!!! Thanks for everything, and great interview Stryker:)
I've been podcasting for a decade, punkin since the 80's, and a nofx fan since I was making memories. This was the best podcast I've ever heard/seen. Eating sketti at 4am and half drunk. Life is good, rent is due.
I turned 40 on January 6th. I heard Nofx the first time in 1991. Ribbed. Flat out still my favorite album by them and in my 10 fav all time albums as well. Just the Flu, Green Corn, Moron Bros, etc etc so many great songs and the playing is so fast and tight and the guitar solos are blistering. Fat Mike, Eric, Smelly, and all the other guitarists they've had thru the years- man, I still love this band, and am truly happy all of them are alive in 2022 thru monster addictions and a live fast die young attitude. I've survived 21 years of an i.v. heroin and fentynl and cocaine addiction so I feel pretty grateful to be here too. Hopefully get a band going again this year. It's not to late ever when you love what you do the music can still be good- respect strycker
You’re a fucking gem Stryker. Thanks for making this podcast and doing your own thing. Whatever you do to keep that smile and enthusiasm, keep it up. It’s contagious my dude. This interview is great
one of my closest friends introduced me to NOFX around 1996 we loved skateboarding to it and he was probly the biggest NOFX fan I have ever met in my life he fucken loved them and loved Fat Mike he passed away in a car accident about 10 yrs ago Rest in Peace John Paul Costilla listening to this for you my brother
Rest in peace to your good friend John , he had amazing taste in music. must have been a rad guy, he will live on in your memories for life just as my late friend who passed in 2017 does with me. 🤝🏼
This was absolutely amazing!!!!! Thank you. It was awesome to see that Fat Mike was actually enjoying the entire interview. Also loved the advice he game on success and being happy!!!’
Fat Mike definitely did catch lightening in a bottle with the late 90s-early 2000s FatWreck bands! All those bands he mentioned, Lagwagon, Strung Out, Propagandhi, No Use...., Good Riddance, shaped my entire musical world and they still influence me to this day! Those bands in that era occupy a large portion of my all-time favorite records to this day. I still listen to that shit on a regular basis!
What a great interview. Fat Mike is an absolute treasure. And as someone who lives in Vegas and was at the PRB show that got NOFX kicked out of town , I'm pleasantly surprised to here the punk museum will be here.
this is an amazing interview. love the chemistry between you both. i hardly ever listen to podcasts and interviews especially ones this long. usually just clips / segments but like i said this is an amazing one. all the way through
Mike is one of the very few that just keeps getting more punk rock the older he gets. Those shoes, man he rocks them with confidence, makes clown shoes look cool as hell, lol
Maybe he was flattered , id be flattered to have a kinda famous guy shout me out. As a shout out generally means """"a bit of props to my pal""" but as fat mike.... it might be funny to see if he cringed or smiled or said...f him. I get it i guess! No disrespect meant to you at alll!
They've been bandmates in Me First & The Gimmie Gimmes for quite a while. Plus Chris was in No Use For A Name for years on Fat Wreck Chords. They're buds but it'd still be cool to find his reaction for the HOF.
Mike is always entertaining, and his new podcast is awesome! I've known the band since '84, and when they had no where to play back then because Erik's dad was working in the shop where No-Fx practiced in La Cresenta (above Sunland/Tujunga where I lived), they played in my garage. I called it punk rock ditch day lol! Anyway; half way through their set our big heavy ass garage door came off one hinge and fell on top of Mike's head and shoulder, and he held it up with his head and shoulder, but kept jamming through the song Ant Attack until I was able to push the cotter-pin back into the hinge,, he was so fucking punk! And my brothers friend fought with one of Mike's friends, that was not punk, and made me look bad and made me so mad. I've been a big supporter ever since, and I'm very happy that they are all happy and doing well. That was a fun podcast, well done Stryker! 👏🏻😃🎉
I lived in Tijunga / Sunland area as a kid in early 80's. I was friends with actor Paul Walker then. And we both played on same Little League teams, for two or three years. That area has gotten worse I heard? Cheers!
Great interview. First punk tape I had my mom buy me was punk in drublic. Met mike at a no use for a name show in San Francisco. He gave me $20. Nothing better than when you meet your idol and he’s a cool guy

Props to the host for rolling with whatever Mike pivoted to. Never lost his cool, always maintained his enthusiasm and curiosity. I reiterate Mike is a genius, but I also believe he has a borderline personality disorder. Nothing against his views or opions, but as the host perfectly pointed, "or is it how you voice your opinion?"- Cofidence and conviction are important. Humility is even an more important.

I can imagine that for "major" society Mike can be just some crazy weird old punk, but the reality is that many of us should take example from his hard work and creativity. He achieved a lot. And some of the things he said in this podcast make great sense and are very inspirational.
The NOFX story and philosophy is great. It makes sense - they were/are big but not Green Day big. Yet have lived an amazing crazy life probably not missing that much compared to “bigger” bands. Success is subjective :)

Warped tour WAS awesome back when nofx played at lassale park. In buffalo ny.
